  1. Well the phone rang last night and a very apologetic client made his excuse of the bad roads so him and his friend would not be coming. So I rang Karl who works for me when I have 2 clients out. There not coming matey. Well what you doing then. Well I'll go out now anyway. If you can get here we'll go on mine he said. Ok. Pulling up at his house he soon had his stuff into my truck and we were away. Arriving on the shoot a deer ran into the wood as we pulled up. We couldn't get all the way up the track as a drift was as high as the bonnet *aaaa* So stalk
  2. Thanks w.viz for clearing that up. I knew the costs of dsc2 thought someone had hit gold saying £100. If they can stalk witnessed for that on 3 stalks and shoot 3 deer I will have some of that for meself......WHERE?(just the stalks as I have my dsc2). Your right under the new system it will be dearer when all 3 stalks HAVE to be done by "APPROVED" witness's. Its also a good idea to book our outings for dsc2 on does/hinds they are the cheap alternative. Its cheaper to register when you complete the level 1. If you do it immediatley I think.
  3. Is that to register for dsc2 or to complete all 3 stalks and the portfolio ? As that is more then reasonable considering thats shooting 3 deer and having the paperwork done. Wont even cover a mans time nevermind the beasts /fuel/ phonecalls etc etc.
  4. well with correct bullet choice they are fine. but its only a couple of years ago they were refused for roe in england think nothing will change soon.
  5. admin may we lock this thread now as the dog lads coming on and talking about illegal behaviour is becoming very boring.weather or not a dog is better then a rifle is irrelivent now only one is legal. regards john.
  6. well done buddy on the deer and the photos where you in yorks..?
  7. well he hasn't come on openly saying hes slipping the dogs on deer. though he leaves little to speculation. but what rattled me earlier was to come on the topic and openly condemn a legal and "best practice" method of deer control saying an outlawed method was better not as good but better. then you all want us to stick together, when PRE BAN means jack shit to the dog lads round here who run kill leave the deer and intimidate the stalkers and landowners. if you are a cos-ha coursing man who only now runs rabbits then i apologize and take my hat off to you. happy new year. john.
  8. John R, I think you may have mis-read Ranger V. The first part of his post was a quote from someone else. The lurcher boys from the our local traveller camp have been leaving their 'catches' to rot to save getting caught with them. I don't think that is something that Ranger V is into nowadays, if he ever was! no I saw the post was a quote some time ago when vim was vim we clashed and now have put that behind us. It was his post on letting dog lads get on with it I was replying to. he maybe isnt poached there much as red and fallow are bigger deer. but here where the roe ab
  9. again it boils down to personal opinion the fact is deer with dogs isn't legal and writing about it shouldn't be on public forums. My living is with deer and pheasants and the lads who hunt the deer by day or night are stealing MY lively hood. Vim I don't want to lock horns with you but you said once before you shoot deer for a living for some of the year.Is the deer money better in your pocket or theirs/or slung in the hedge bottom. It isn't the coursing that rattles me its those that wander the fields by day and night going where they like and killing deer unlawfully. I might have known
  10. the only point im making mate is my sport is legal your is not, so go back into sherwood forest robin. leave the deer to the stalkers. I like deernut have come accross 1 to many injured deer by dogs or carcass's left to rot to care much for your methods its best we agree to disagree rather than fall out. if you are unsure on the law regarding dogs there is a very informative post at the lurchers and running dogs section. regards john.
  11. Good thinking there though you learn this in dsc1+2 but feel you'll never use it
  12. Transmission and Development Adult flukes deposit eggs in the ducts and cavities of the liver of the host. From there, the eggs pass to the intestinal tract and are eliminated in the feces. The eggs need moisture for development, and will hatch in moist feces or shallow water. Low-lying marshy areas, well suited for snail propagation, are ideal sites for fluke development. It takes about 25 days for eggs to hatch into the next stage, miracidia. Miracidia enter the proper snail host, in Michigan usually Fossaria parva or Stagnicola palustria nuttaliana. In the snail, development p
  13. Nice one mate I was shooting pheasants yesterday but back with the deer today spent alot of time in the seats -nothing couldn't even bounce one in the crunchy snow and ice.....so very well done on a result.
  14. Hey and the only teeth marks in it will be yours when you eat it eh????
  15. What a silly thing thing to say.... You a copper.. so is smoking weed, driving over 30, drinking under 18, and courseing hares! I'll just ring the filth and tell them that i am doing 100+ down the motorway, oh and i'll leave my name... teesssshhhh. Yeh your a modern day robin hood mate they will talk about your exploits well into the next century. A true hero and sportsman......or are you just a poacher and a thug who blatently breaks the law, I really cant decide.
  16. My day went well never had a blank peg. shot 11 pheasants 1 massive pigeon and a rabbit. Also had a hare a pheasant and another pigeon which were'nt picked.
  17. nth yorks shooting driven game. breakfast at the local pub 8.30 sharp. regards john.
  18. BUT DEER and DOGS is illegal matey.(nothing clever about that either) Put your real name up and talk like that.(stand by what you say) Dont think so. Its certainly no fun for the deer.
  19. I spend every day stalking deer and would like to see you just walk out and shoot 1 of my deer. you must have some tame animals around you. likewise i could step over my fence and run a hare whats clever about that. each to their own merry christmas to you all.
  20. When a deern runs on a shot like this it is a reflex reaction like a headless chicken and a lung/heart shot is best practice.........AND A LEGAL METHOD. Dogs are not and the chase stresses the beast more and may ruin the meat (in relation to flavour). I come across far more wounded by dogs deer then will ever see wounded by large calibre deer rifles. I dont want to enter into a row over dogs here, I use one to trail wounded deer. But a coment like yours stag on a stalking topic is out of order and usualy comes from someone acting outside the law.
