    Most lads say my dogs are over weight as far as im concerened a fit dog can carry a little fat. If you have a dog so fit it aint carrying a once of fat ,or worse it aint even fit just halfed starved to look fit,its going to struggle on a decent night,or cold weather ect. Just back from a quick outing with a pup met 3 rabbits that were stupid enough to be out in driving rain,still a bit more experience for her, loose her out of car she starts doing laps of the garden,hardly starving me thinks.

    I do know more than most when it comes to nature and predators ect,there would be something wrong if not. When it comes to hunting though the more you know the more you relies you don't know,Unfortunately with the topdog lads if they dont do it or there friends dont do it its wrong.What makes them top dog lads they've caught a few rabbits and have the pictures lol

    Any one that can keep ferrets and lurchers and come on with a dogs have the fastest digestion of all mammalsFACT ,is hard to take seriously. Must admit mine rarley have to work all night very few do,but i dont feel less of a man for it Dark now better get out before the dog starves to death.lol

    Why though, they catch all i want them to do without it.Am on the falconry section talking about a 5 once sparrow hawk. A ferret feeds every 2 hours or so i dont take them a packed lunch though on a days ferreting.

    At least your talking from your own experience,Only seen one dog go of her legs once early morning,So she had been fed not that long ago really under 12 hours,Maybe some are prone to it maybe she was lacking something.She never done it again even when worked harder Maybe if i ever try and catch more than 3 rabbits i will need to start feeding earlier later.

    You might not like it or agree with it but its all true You came on with your starve the dog to save a few pence narrow minded my way or no way. We can change the subject to something your more interesting to you if you like how great you are how much youve done ect ect.

    Lol you could argue a wolf doesn't get wormed every 3 months,doesn't get driven to a place where there lots to catch,doesn't get the benefit of a 2million cp lamp,dosnt get to go home to a warm kennel with heat lamps supplements blah blah. But thats all of topic really,A dogs stomach has to work as hard as any other animal to digest meat,So it probably more relevant than a lot of things the TOP DOGMEN say is essential,But becouse WE wouldnt like it we think a dog wouldnt either.     If you knew you were going lamping you wouldnt probably starve the day before,But at the same time how many miles would a hound do on a hunting day having no food the day before? You shouldnt need to feed a dog 8 hours before going lamping unless your feeding bad food in my opinion. If a dog is well feed it should be well able to cope with a starve day,And its probably good for it. Your dogs do what suits you and your dogs,But remember you cannot beat nature,Its been tested alot more than the stuff you see on internet

    Zoos ect give there animals starve days,From my days with exotics lions,tigers would get 15lb of meat on the bone 5 days a week,wolves 5lb a day 5 days a week. Its just to replicate the fact in the wild they wouldn't always get food every day,meant to be good for stomach to get a rest(CLEAN OUT),also in zoos ect keeps animals looking fit and healthy you go to some zoos and see lions ect that are obese. I dont give my dogs a starve day but i do vary amounts so today they might get a little but tomorrow get a good meal,stops them getting pickie . Hounds get a starve day before hunting, dogs n

    The day i watch a documentary or read a book about wolves wild dogs lions or any other animal,and they say the alfa female is in season so instead of hunting,she stays at the den and has a gentle walk for herself.Will be the day i think there something in it. Till then i will take it as something that came from greyhounds where split seconds count and they can kill there selves running on a bowling green. Adapted by lads who want to over complicate things.

    Had decent nights on bad nights and bad nights on good nights. Right now though ground is seriously hard so will hang on for the rain.

    First two dogs gave me some of best memorys,Hunting for hours and hours rats to deer and anything in between urban rural,Walking for 3 hours to local estate run a hare or two then back hunting as we went. Getting up at 2 walking a couple of hours to favourite spot couple of hours hunting then walk back intime to go to school. One of those mornings waiting at first field for it to get light dog starts telling me she wants to get on lane i lose her hear claws on the road,Feel somthing run across my feet and growls as he almost ran straight into my legsmy first close incounter with mr fox.     there was sightings in Bangor co down a couple of yrs ago too You wont find a sighting since 2011 though

    I must be asking the wrong fellas so,No ones seen one Just looked on invasive species site still no extra sightings from a couple of years ago.

    Carry on. Dog fit and working,You stop because its in season,So then as well as hormone changes you have a complete change in work, routine.Dog thinks summits up mentally and physically. Also read on here how dogs often pull muscles behind at 3-4 weeks,Never had it my self.My thoughts would be this is dogs that have been left in kennel because its been inseason , comes out soft and flaby pulls muscles . Depends if you follow common sense own experience our blacks veterinary book i guess.
