  1. Too many people these days would have walked away...
  2. Im a physicist, aparantly! But i would kill to work outside everyday, hate the indoors.
  3. No hunting life calender this year? Im moving out into a place of my own around the new year and its the first thing that came to mind, lol
  4. Just the pup, and ive got enough work for her. Ill get another pup when shes well entered and I know exactly what shes capable of, whens shes around 2 and a half to 3. I think 2 working lurchers is plenty for most, but of course some people might have a brace of lamping dogs but also need a dog for more specialist jobs.
  5. bringing the next generation of hunters on is as important as the next generation of dogs
  6. may i suggest a few well placed blank shotgun bangers... I have to ask is there a bidle path close by? and your crazy idea re bangers etc, just might result in a serious accident possibly to Horse and Rider....... and You COULD be held responcible..... perhaps a friendly chat would go a lot further Of course your right... Just a joke which i hope everyone understood. Some signs clearly stating where riders cannot go would also cover your backs before taking further action I should imagine. Coupled with a friendly conversation as oposed to the stereotypical keepers attitude.
  7. may i suggest a few well placed blank shotgun bangers...
  8. Oh B> that it the best news ever! I was quite aprehensive about taking her, as you know, but to be honest she didn't let me down at all, and when she found that pricked duck under the brambles in the water and retrieved it, or tried to LOL straight up through the brambles, I was made up. Just think how much she'll improve this season with going out regularly! I know that she's done quite a few different things so far, but that was the first time she'd been surrounded by so many guns, dogs and people. I'll have to work on her picking up so I can send her out for a dropped bird! She takes
  9. Look forward to seeing these come on. Dill was the talk amongst the beaters last saturday, everyone was pleasantly surprised with her.
  10. As long as there are true terriermen there will be true earthdogs. Those that breed the best dont let their stock fall into the hands of the puppy peddlars. Im sure in the future the fell type will develop into a show dog but im also sure that the working lines will still be strong if you look in the right places.
  11. You reckon the keepers have time to take photos on a driven day? I'd love to do a write up on ours but never really have chance to take photos. Maybe i'll try next week. One of the beaters on ours is a photographer and messes about once a season, if he gets some snaps this year ill make the effort to put something together.
  12. Nice to read a thread with pics about a driven day. I must try to put one together at some point. Mixed bag or mostly pheasant?
  13. Very different to my part of the country then. Round here most keepers dont have a dedicated terrierman and are pleased to find one. If its your sorta thing then beating for a couple of shoots during the season will be productive. Once youve shown your face, alot of keepers dont mind you bringing a couple of terriers on couples for the day out, gets yourself chatting to others about them and before you know it youve got your first do with the keeper checking earths. Above all be professional and errr on the side of caution and you will find your the only terrierman allowed on the shoots becaus
  14. just a few, never mind, im sure youll do better next time. haha
  15. my personal favourite "what you up to this weekend then?" "shooting" "shooting!???" "yeh..." "are you a farmer then?" "no.... im not a fecking farmer....."
  16. I hope so! Ive not long had the pro hunter
  17. Surely thats wrong??? I would have thought an elephant would have pissed all over that??? Land predator perhaps?
  18. Not unless they came via Virgin airlines matey, we don't have a population of raccoons over here. Could be mink but more then likely otter, we had a koi breeder here in the Lincolnshire wolds, the otter decimated the koi pond until they installed an electric fence around the pond 6 inches of the floor......... I saw a bloke walking one on a lead down by the Trent near Notts a few months back. Not wild obviously but i could hardly beleive my bloody eyes!
  19. The photos piss all over the cuntryfile callender!
  20. Dont buy this expecting a book, buy it expecting a piece of art. Darcy's love of the hare, the running dog and the course. Its fecking great, nothing like it out there.
  21. Listening to you lot isnt doing my patience any good. Cant bloody wait to come home to find my copy!
