  1. In fairness mate the SCOTUS ruled it unconstitutional. As Chris says, it's not so much legal as cultural. That law wouldn't stand in court but it does illustrate how important religion is to the US electorate.
  2. I've probably said this before but this year it seems like every week there is a stabbing in Nottingham. I tried finding stats to confirm or deny but it's hard, plod seem to lump it in with a generic class of crime.
  3. Same. I couldn't feel more removed from those people. I'm not 30 yet and I honestly feel like I'm from a different species in society at times. It's a pretty big sense of detachment that frankly would disgust some people. Mind I'm probably not the only one that thinks I'm from a different species!
  4. It'd be equally as telling to see who the other 35% voted for. The absence of that info could imply to the reader that they voted Tory, but I'll bet that the Tory percentage is smaller than that, with a good proportion not voting at all.
  5. Interesting graph that. Particularly that the two faiths in question are also the two most predictable at the ballot.
  6. I wouldn't have thought digging a 3 ton truck out of ice that is stopping you from plunging into the icy abyss below is a very pleasant experience!
  7. And left right is wayyyyy too simplistic!
  8. Lads embrace it! Look at Hillary's speech where she called her opposition deplorable, they didn't get offended, they were honoured!
  9. Privatise public services..... that'll be a big fat yes from me! 'Vigilante' is a bit strong. A vigilante is unaccountable, hence the moral ambiguity with them. This is not vigilantism at all, it's the free market! It's minarchism! No wonder public officials and legislators are pissy, they're being found lacking and being replaced.
  10. There will always be a radical if the people want it. Which is why the first step has to be grass roots, on the street spreading your 'radicalism', using your freedom of speech to spread an idea and challenge the status quo. We're not really doing that, because it's all too comfortable at the moment for the most part. Brexit is a good example though. UKIP could never offer us a GE victory, but through such grass roots politics we forced a establishment party to change! One step at a time. You'll not break the two party system mate, you just won't. Its designed not to be. GE day for
  11. I probably agree mate which is tragic frankly. Though I disagree with you about voting for the establishment parties simply because I think it's futile to expect to be able to break the two party system. I think trumps political journey is a very good example of how to go about changing things. Play the system, don't try and break it.
  12. Not that I'm trying to silence you. I honestly think the only solution is to expose these things and have the discussions and arguments at grass roots level. So bravo! If people understand and believe in the rights and principles that are so symbiotic to democracy then 'we' might just start believing in them again and so demand they are protected while it is still possible peacefully.
  13. due process, freedom of speech etc are being pissed on and folks call those concerned sensitive and paranoid. See Chris, see, nobody cares. "All this democracy and stuff we have is just God given, duh!".
  14. The founding fathers are often a point of reference for me. Wisdom that is as relevant today as it was over 200 years ago!
  15. I see the British mentality is just too far removed from that mate. I've read their manifesto before and couldn't help but think the average Brit would be outraged by parts of it. If they actually managed the impossible and gained any ground they'd probably be banned as extremists. That said, it's like they have read my mind and printed it as their manifesto!
  16. You've been out the UK too long mate. Let me catch you up..... NOBODY gives a f**k for liberty these days! NOBODY! It's just not important, lol. 'Classical liberalism'.... nope never heard of it!
  17. Just for clarification, do you understand there is a difference between liberal and libertarian?
  18. Anyone fighting it. But particularly those who have lost their lives in it, like Sgt Matt Tonroe, and would have their contribution called "a waste". Mate I don't think this is the place to get into a debate over the ins and outs of this particular deployment of British troops and a comparison to all that preceeded it. We'll all just have to accept that I support this one and plenty other do not. Cleaning up a shitty mess that 'we' started.
  19. FYI they're not fighting Assad, they're fighting IS. As worthy a war as there ever was imo.
  20. No idea mate. Apparently he wasn't the only casuality so quite possible. One of three or four dead iirc, the others Americans.
  21. I believe this marks the first british death in this conflict. Thought that was thread-worthy. Not sure details, sure the DM or Sun have articles.
  22. You're all a bunch a fascist Nazi pigs! #genderisasocialconstruct #equalityordeath
