  1. Youre right BH, most folk will shoot them as part of a general bag. The spot we go to is predominantly woodcock ground. We must flushed/seen close to 100 over 3 days. There will be thousands of them tucked away on the forestry blocks.
  2. Yes Neil, definitely good numbers of Woodcock and saw plenty of snipe but shooting them is a different matter !!
  3. Our annual trip up the west coast was a productive affair this year. We were informed that woodcock were in short supply this year and we should show restraint.........well they weren't where we were and we didn't ..............The usual spots held good numbers of birds and with the dogs working hard we managed to squirt a few down and put a bag together. By the end of the first day the dogs were knackered. its really hard going for them working in the bracken and briars. The second morning we were up at 6am to flight duck on the foreshore, there is normally plenty of teal around at this

Ive got a little olace up the Dales that I rent out as a weekend holliday let. It gives me a better return than a full time tenant but involves a bit of work for the mrs cleaning etc....
  9. i took a good friend to A&E 2 days before Christmas. He wasn't right, slurring his words etc, thought he'd had a mini stroke. Did a CT scan and found a tumour on his brain. OK, its bad and I wouldn't want it in my head but we can deal with it. Fast forward to following morning, having seen 3 different doctors none of whom had been told what meds he was on (even though each one had written it down). So I go in to pick him up as he was being discharged with a follow up appointment, and just as we are about to leave another doctor appears and declares 'as you know you have primary lung c
  10. Funny, had a long tailed tit on the feeder in the snow yesterday that had lost its tail. Wondered what it was at first amongst the tree sparrows. Had a house sparrow on as well which is a rarity round here !
  11. It’s to do with fish that have cartridge. I sometimes take a dogfish for the table but you gotta bleed it and gut it quickly otherwise the cartridge breaks down and releases ammonia.
