It's amazing the weird stuff you see when your out and about,,that's going to be a funny vid,, sounds like you had a cracking week up there,,, as you say seeing the difference in a pup in such a short space of time is great,,, done the same here with this border terrier pup I have,,a good few days up north with plenty of rabbits really makes a difference

Show yer skills Tomo...get the recipe up ....that pie looks fit No recipe ,,, evry one is a little different ,, depends on the herbs in the garden,,cupboard ect,,,but in a nutshell ... Rabbit,,stock vege,,, carrot ,onion, garlic clove,,celery ,,leaks, potatoes,, and sweet potatoes,,, stock cube ,, red wine.

Blind bake means baking the bottom of the pastry in the pie dish ,,,you put the pastry in,, then put grease proof paper on top,,, then some dried beans,, I think you can youse rice,,, or you can buy special beads made from pottery,, these weight the pastry down in the pie dish,, otherwise it puffs up like a poperdom.. But to be honest I never blind bake the bottom,, just get the pastry in ,, then the filling,, then get the pastry lid on,,, egg wash it,, and bake for about 45 mins

There easy really ,,, just a good rabbit stew,,, let it reduce to the right consistency ,, then pastry from the supermarket ,,

Just get on the net mate,, bbc good food site is ok for recipe's,,, you will find plenty for pastry,,, just decide what you want,,puff,,short crust ,, ect,,, personally I think short rust is best for pies,,, Are you doing it for some Spanish friends mate,,,if so don't let the side down,, show em what proper British cuisine is all about,,,lol

Most Important Quality In A Running Dog.....
TOMO replied to BORDERSCOT's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Like what giro said in the first post,, there's many different attributes that can all be important .......one thing that many lads would list down the line is speed....and in genrel I would agree,,,but speaking on personal experience,,, that bitch in my avatar was up there with greyhound speed,,, and feck me did she fell some quarry ...but she new how to use her speed,,and her mouth,,,, she was one of them dogs, that when she was behind somthing,, if it got away,, you would be very surprised .. -
Good stuff jim,,, we went north that night,,, and it looked worrying with the mist fog,, but when we got up there it was blowing well all night,, warm though like you say,, just a tee shirt on and a thin hiking jacket,, and the sweat was rolling down,,, had 65 on the night,,, hopefully some more nights this coming week,,, but it's looking warm for the early part
-
It's a not uncommon to see them go to ground,, I've done it many times over the years,,, also seen one go up the inside of a tree trunk that was fallen over,, the trunk went up at 45 degree angle and the hare could be seen at head night through little holes,,, and of course we let him be.. On the fens when it was all legal,, everytime I went on organised doo's,,, you would see at least one going to ground , weather it be a badger set,, pipe,, rabbit warren whatever,,,and woebiteide any fecker that tried to stop them.. On one place we went,, next to a barn was a big stack of pellets,,,

I have the ones your buying mate,, the parlour 2,, mrs got me them last Chrimbo ,,,, in neaprean ,,, I have size 12 =47,, and I'm normaly a 12 although some shoes I have are 11.5. There good boots mate,, far Moore comfortable than any of the different muck boots I've had,,, not to mention lighter,,, there also very soft ,,,, however,, I find them not to have the support around the ankles ,,, I have been up the dales in them once,,, but won't ever again,,,boots all the way up there. But down here on flat arable land,, they take some beating,, I can littery walk for ever in them
-
I've always believed that winter seed to be bad,,, it looks great,,, but that soft tilled soil gets up in the quiks,,and they can get infected,,,the old dog was always having problems with that...I think soft grass land is the best for a dogs foot
-
But then again,,,it don't get much harder than catching them on the road...lol
-
Same as you in a way,,, not down south though,,, out in lincs on my old permission round Grantham,,,loads of stone on the fields ,, real nightmare .
-
That hurt my head trying to read that sentence wilf,,, I bet that was hard to wright ..lol

I'm I hearing it right ,,this mother has walked from court? The one who starved the child and left it laying in a cot for 2 years,,, I saw her walking in to court the other day on the telly,,and couldn't understand why she was on bail,,,and not remanded.
