  2. Well I am just thinking that I am only 18, People may just assume that I wont do a good job. I do actually have plently of experiance with machinery. My fulltime job is doing the grounds maintenance on a fishery. ATB, HJ
  3. Hello . In a few months I will be going self employed, doing small scale grounds maintenance. Tree felling, hedge cutting, mowing etc. The last few months I have spent all my money on getting my tickets. Ive done my Pesticides pa1 and pa6, Chainsaw crosscutting, Tractor driving, and use of Strimmers and Brushcutters. I have my Tree felling course booked for feb. Is there anyone out there doing a similar thing? any general advice? Or just people who have gone self employed, any regrets or happy? The only thing that worrys me is my age, not sure if people will take me seriously.
  4. Get 'a mouchers tale' by phil lloyd aka chalkwarren. Really is an excellent read, not just ferreting though it has some lamping etc
  5. 29 is my personal best. Had more enjoyable days with less rabbits.
  6. Feck sake its his choice if he wants to put it up. People blatently talk about coursing, foxing on here, and much worse when the bull breeds section was here. Do you really with the police are going to care about a few dropped rabbits? You obviously take your position as moderator very seriously!
  7. .......Your hands cant hit what your eyes cant see. HJ
  8. Get something made by a proper bootmaker, like meindl, lowa, hanwag, haix etc any of those makers are quality boots. Ive got non gortex Lowa Munro's, love them.
  9. Washer? I may have sneezed I dont even use my mk1 but its just sitting there so I will try to fix it. Will ring deben tommorow. How much are mk1 collars going for now? I have 3 or 4, may be worth just selling.
  10. Does anyone who where I can get one? do deben still supply them if I ring? and do they come with the wee screw that you fix them with? atb, HJ
  11. Sorry mate, your wrong. Used to be, and could still be in places, common practice in the indian ocean and arabian sea. Cats too, anything that gives off strong distress signals works well as bait apparently. So do you think that the youtube video is real?..... That video is so clearly fake its just daft. I did say it might happen in some small groups. I find it very hard to believe it is common practise. Who knows i might be wrong, hope not. ATB, HJ
  12. Im interested in getting some fish. I dont really know much about it. I would rather have like small tench, roach and carp etc than tropicals as I love my fishing and would find it more interesting keeping standard coarse fish. What would be very rough setting up costs? like the tank, filters etc sorry if its abit vague, HJ
  13. Maybe not H&J mate, I saw a program about shark fishermen in SA a while ago. While that video could well be a fake, it deffo goes on with some unscrupulous arseholes over there..... Suppose so mate. Havent seen the programme so cant say. The reason I find it hard to believe is because, its completey pointless. Using a dog isnt going to be any more affective than a chunk of fish. If it does happen, I would think its by very few extreamly sick people who do it because they enjoy watching it. Im still sure the video is fake. Dont know why there would be a dog in a vets with hoo
  14. Cant even believe that you believe it. Its a load of fake fecking shite to get people on the whole animal rights train. Why the f**k would people shark fishing go to the trouble of using alive dogs as bait. Sharks are lured up close to the boats with bags of fish hanging near the boats. a chunk of meat or fish is all thats needed to hook them. Plus alot of big shark fishing is just a tourism industry. Cant see tourists being all to keep on there skipper hooking up Rover lol! EDIT....plus notice the way that they are pulling back the dogs head skin to make it appear stressed out
  15. You've been given a link that will tell you everything you want to know about rat snaring. Snareman knows his stuff, use the articles! atb, HJ

Ive got a buck alpha hunter folder and its a quality item. That and my Helle Fjellkniven are both absolutly a1. Both are great but if I had to choose it would be the Helle for gutting and general use. Holds a stupidly sharp edge too.

  20. Check that shes getting to the food, one of mind is very submissive and I have to seperate her to ensure she gets a decent meal. If she is definitly eating loads then I would get her to the vet as theres something up. Ferrets cant get worms :thumbs-up: HJ
  21. This topic is about first things we shot, yeh he shot a blackbird but you got to learn somewhere......being as its all he has shot. Shooter1 look on the defra website about pests and what you can/cant shoot. Nice leveret in your avatar lloyd.....
  22. I agree with you, there is certainly alot of coverage of shooting and rural life etc on TV, most comes from hugh fernly twatingstall and jamie oliver etc I dont agree with the countryside being out of bounds, I think it might have the reverse affect. Townies watching tv could see the romantic view the tv paints of it all and 'escape to the country' . Who knows, but I enjoy most of the programmes. ATB, HJ
