  1. Nice one mate good bag there. Ive been out beating today and its been bitterly cold all day, cant ever remember it being as cold as it has been today. Was cold in the morning but I dont think it rose a degree all day. Im out with the ferrets tommorow hopefully will be a bit warmer lol. ATB, HJ
  2. That scouse woman was doing my head in. The ferreters could have done a better job making it more professional. Like they pulled a latched on ferret off a live rabbit, better just to break its neck then get the ferret off etc. Loved it when he was spiting on the ferret to get it of that rabbit and the presenter said he was making a ferret distress signal
  3. Do you even have a MK3 ferret finder? as you keep claiming they go in the same way, I can tell you that they dont and I would happily bet my bollocks on it. Dont start saying people are talking 'utter bullshit' when you clearly dont have a clue what your on about!
  4. Think its one of the original mk3's stubby. Alot of the advice you will see on here is for the updated mk3 with the pin pointer, may be easier to contact deben for instructions.
  5. The smell of rhododendron hedge cuttings, smells lile marzipan.
  6. I mix mine 60/40 water/antifreeze, works a treat. HJ. PS, sorry to get offtrack but I found all my ferrets dead this morning, any ideas?
  7. Its a mk3 as it says on the unit. Liek someone said do a search for mk3, be patient with it and do lots of practise as it seems to be tricky to get the hang of for some people. Its a great locator if you learn to use it properly.

    help

Download AVG Free antivirus and do a scan. Its a good program and will stop any future viruses.
  9. I was thinking more of kids getting exploited , i know its experience for them but surely they cant be expected to work 8 hrs for example in all weathers for a couple of quid & a drink of pop There not expected to, its really not like a job at all, not like your employed or anything just turn up. If they want to go they can, most kids are with parents anyway. ATB, HJ
  10. I dont get paid for beating and I'm happy with it. They treat us well, all the regular beaters get a free professional clay day and bbq/pub lunch in the Summer where as the guns have to pay £100 odd quid, which covers the beaters tickets too. The beaters days are never the last shoot so were not clearing up the shitteres left over. They always have more than enough beaters too. Plus you dont get treated like your getting paid, if that makes sense. If they have a pop at you you can tell em to feck off, all part of the craic. But I would say on large full keepered estates, where its
  11. I get a pie at lunch time lol thats about it.
  12. Take a look at this I'm half disturbed and half really want one haha HJ

    A HELP OUT!

I feel for the bloke I really do it must be terrible, especially at this time of year with kids. But I personally think theres more worthy causes to send money to? Without meening to sound like a miss world contestant there are children starving, getting beat, hospitals for terminally ill kids etc.....
  16. I've just signed up and stuck a thread up
  17. Eat more pies, butter and lard etc then you can buy normal sizes
  18. Thanks Gin I will have a look.
  19. Anyone out there into making knives? Stick up some pics I wouldnt mind giving it a go, only with a ready made blade to start with. I want to make a hidden tang with a blade around 10cm. How to I actually go about getting the tang into the wood handle? do you drill a hole in the block then knock the tang in with epoxy on it to hold? Im just worried that as the tangs are tapered then the wood will split when its tapped in. Also when buying the 'spor' how do I know that its the right size for the knife blade? Would probs be easier to buy a kit but I just wouldnt find that fun
  20. So many good people have left this site in the last year, its a shame. Lets hope 09 wont see as many leavers... HJ
  21. I hold mine up by the scruff with one hand and clip with the other, seems the quickest way for me.
  22. I like the double stranded net, I bet that lays nicely. Do you find it makes much difference? Looks a good day out. I must be the only fecker working this week atb, HJ
  23. If you read the old books you will always hear of ferrets killing and going to sleep next to the warm carcuss. Has anyone actually experianced this? I havent dug as much as you old timers lol but I have had a fair few digs and never once broken through to a asleep ferret lol. Is it a case of ferrets are better treated now with proper feeding and living conditions so they dont feel the need to stay down after a good meal of bunny? Have you ever broken though to a ferret getting some shut eye lol? ATB, HJ
  24. There seems to be so much hassel about the mk3 and people not being able to use it. It really isnt that hard if you actually sit down and learn to use it. The depth on it can be abit hit and miss but so is the mk1, I think this is down to soil types etc??
  25. Thats to do with fish safety not durability, strength etc hj
