  1. Nice wee film, i remembered, he prefers the 'talpex', for molecatching.Looked a handy wee digging tool,as well.Probably something 'customised', do you think ?
  2. 'trigger sensitivity' on duffus type mole traps, would be an interesting discussion, for me,....lol.But im a bit reluctant,to educate the 'up & comings' so i wont bother. They thiink theyre going to find everything out, (you need to know) on those "training" courses, at the "register & guild" . (i wouldnt bet on it !)
  3. Is it harder to tune the wire on these, then ? No, what i mean is, IF the springs are more powerful then , it is my belief, that the trap must be set finer for Mr Mole to trigger it with as least resistance as possible,...but i could be wrong, I usually am ha ha Cheers, i get you now, interesting,....
  4. Heard Flatpack are producing a barrel trap, which is all stainless steel, including the loops, springs, triggers, etc.I can see the appeal, anyone using them ?
  5. Seriously mate, ? lol I was ready to bite,big time,there,........but, i must be learning,.......ha ha ha
  6. I've two silvers in me freezer.... Can i have one ? LOL
  7. It was my main income for 3 years, I thought pay was very good, and I charged a fiver a mole ffs on farm jobs (caught lots of moles!) Most of these 'pro' mole trappers on here charge a hell of a lot more than I did but they all moan like f**k...I still do a bit now, but Im loving the forest work too much lol A fiver a mole ? ,might be alright , over vast acreage, populated with decent numbers. Not so good when your 'walking' a large area,to mop up moles here & there,.....lol Come to think of it ,havent had the chance to treat any ground, thats 'black' with moles, for a long while.Depend
  8. Hardly,........lol (well, for me anyway) and its not getting any easier.
  9. Nice one, good to see. Notice your from Lincolnshire, good ' mole country ' down that way, id bet ? lol Durham taxidermist, done me a few ' ordinary ' moles, before.Done well, at competitive price.
  10. I got them off a crowd called ' Countryman Of Derby ' The pictures there, mate.I believe i bought the last two, (unless thats all they had,as a sample or something) They were calling them the (somewhat surprisingly) 'bisley barrel mole trap'.
  11. I dont doubt the original fenn one, was better.More robust and a stronger spring, id bet.So its the "far east" this copys from, lol If fenn ever done a re-run,of the "original", i would use some.
  12. The traps surprisingly light,as well. Its also difficult to pack soil round it,to secure it better. Thanks also to a couple of lads off here,....(you know who you are, lol) who tried to help me locate, some of these traps.Couldnt really recommend this 'copy' of the fenn loop either.Spring isnt strong enough, its fiddly, and time consuming to install, as well. (i find)
  13. Was always interested in trying the old 'fenn loop mole trap',but theyve been out of production, decades ago.So i discovered someone had produced traps, similar in design,in recent years.Eventually got a hold of a couple, after a degree of difficulty. (scarce to get) Tried one out,and got a miss, first time. LOL Tried again , changed the style,of setting, bingo, a capture. When i went to check it,the trap (with mole in it) was lying on the surface, less than a foot from the hole,i set it. A fox, i thought at first, had pulled it out,.......no, more like a two legged fox ! Convinced myself it wa
  14. Can anyone suggest a good lightweight, hunting/country trouser, for the summer ? (im not keen on shorts, all the time ! LOL)
  15. "so other than dial a whore or just throwing yourself around the bedroom to pass the time if you been given free reign for a week" ...........hilarious mate, really made me laugh there !
  16. Ha-ha-ha-ha, i can picture this one mate, and it really made me laugh.
  17. Nice footage, mate.I would never have guessed , you wanted to become a film star ! ha-ha
  18. If its the same crowd im thinking of ,ordering from them, should be fine.Ive had 'genuine' talpex from them, and some of them wee yankee traps, (name eludes me at the moment !) which im not to keen on.Be careful if you want barrel types as well, cause they also stocked the " procter " (jeff Nicholls endorsed) ones at the time. (which i wouldnt personally recommend)
  19. I hope that's true and if it's the case. Then fair play. I don't hold much regards for the tendering process. In some cases. They "Have" to get the process rolling in order to seem fair. A formality of such. Although the decision has already made. But hey. Your right. You have to be in it to win it. It seems the 'New zealand' company, have had all the similar large 'rat jobs',previous to this in the UK.But i hope that some 'homegrown' talent, are awarded it,this time. ha-ha-ha I wonder if this type of job, would have ever interested MATT ? (Back in the day, when he was in

  21. I’d share your opinion on this TC. In fact I was in West Wales (Skomer) a few weeks ago. I saw loads of dead Shearwaters, and they’d all been killed by gulls; you could actually see the gulls standing by the burrows, waiting for the Shearwaters to come back. None of the ecologist types there were doing bugger all about it on that island – not even shooing the gulls away. I don’t know much about this Hebrides island – maybe, on a global scale, the Shearwaters there are more important than the last of our local black rats – but, if this is just some scheme by a group of privileged do-goo
  22. Up here the rabbit population, can be localised. So where they are absent, its the hares, and roe deer, that can cause problems,in 'new plantings'.
