  1. " £1 A mole " Id have thought any stragglers, would have been more aware, nowadays. The days of selling yourself short,i thought, were over...............
  2. Another farmer stored, half a dozen phostoxin flasks,on the top shelf, of a kitchen cupboard !
  3. "control/transport/storage/use of phostoxin/talunex can also be a big issue " interesting point there, reminds me of the farmer, carrying around a couple of flasks,in the FOOTWELL of his tractor ! I remember him stopping and saying, " ive got this stuff ,for moles" he then produced a well dented flask, and says "oh, i must have crushed this one with the foot pedal !!! " unbelievable...............
  4. But on the right site, in the right conditions it is a one time, go home and forget it treatment and as such it can be cost effective! ...and I'm sure with a little more thought they could have made one applicator to deal with both, (but that's business I guess) I only use Phostoxin, it does what I want when I need it. Genuinely, no disrespect , but youve just revealed all i need to know..........(and i apologise for my last post !) I rest my case.............. Hold on ...........you dont happen to be an MD ,of a commercial pest control co, are you ? ( Im sorry mate

  7. By ' doing it right ' whats your approach ? emptying half a flask of phostoxin, per mole.Or maybe a full flask ! If i tell a farmer,i can do his moles with either gas or traps,no prizes for guessing, what methods going to work out better ,price wise ,for him....... Oh dear, which part of my post did you find confusing? Forgive me mate, but the first sentence of your post, was only, " stating the obvious "...........(hardly worth saying !) Funny , and here was me thinking , it was YOU that didnt fully understand..........(just didnt want to be rude !) lol Im sure some of the me

  11. Of course not !! lol Thing is if you have to really ' overdose ' with it, ( and i bet, more often than not, repeat the application ! ) its hard to have any confidence in it ,being either an effective, or efficient method. It then makes you consider, how ' cost effective ' the treatment, actually is,compared to alternatives.
  12. Ha-ha,i dont doubt you mate ! I dont rate the stuff highly at all.Far too often, the outcome, is disappointing. He did hint at though, how ,they made sure they " blitzed " the place with it. (did i spell that right ! lol )
  13. Well,...speaking personally,...I used to trap large acreages of agricultural grassland, and although I enjoyed the work (and all the rabbiting/mouching rights, that often accompanied the job).....nowadays,.I prefer to treat large Country House garden lawns and nice tidy sheep farms,.. and sundry smallholdings.. As a Pest Controller, of several decades now,.I have found that it is favourite, to do less work, for more money,..as opposed to being, a rushed of me feet,.busy, busy,..fool.. Obviously,.you have to find your own place in the industry, and geographically,..the remuneration for tradi
  14. I was recently talking to an MD,of a commercial pest control co. Told me he had (surprisingly),NEVER failed achieving control of moles, with aluminium phosphide. It was always 100%,successful !
  15. It may at least stop some farmers,( and other untrained individuals from aquiring it) Up here, farmers could get it easily, over the counter, at any agricultural supplier, etc, who cared to stock it.All that was required, was the farm holding number, and a signature !
  16. I was about to say, nice photo Phil, (bottom one) and was going to ask Matt, to perhaps treat us to a nice molecatching scene, lol
  17. "full time" ,should be,but not at the moment, for me. lol Consistent heavy rain, falling for too long now, on already saturated ground, SERIOUSLY hampers things, here !
  18. to be fair ive been in farming/keepering/moles my whole life (while short a full life) and ive never asked a farmer why he wants moles caught, ime trapping on real fell ground at the min ile put a photo up its miles from a silage field and all their is,is rock scree and herdwicks!! just out of interest,MMK what ratio of moles to traps do you get? up hear on hill ground (mostly grazing),there can be alot of thistles, docks ,and other undesirable weeds, which establish easily on the molehills. Its not uncommon for the farmers to have to spray them,to get it under control again.I also rem
  19. " unfortunEALTY thats why mole catching is becoming a scarcer trade because mole catchers dont want anyone else knowing their secrets or tips " Sorry, but i couldnt disagree more !
  20. " i put a couple down as i said but also use Duffus and they seem to always get the mole before the Trapline ones. " Thats definately telling you something then ! LOL
  21. Personally, after some experience with them, i feel these traps are a bit overrated............. but i suppose the " each to their own " attitude , would also apply.
  22. I bet you got quite a surprise, when you pulled the trap out ! lol
  23. Count me in. Just let me know what your wearing so we don't clash. I'm thinking..............crimson. But on a serious note. It's likely to be all sewn up anyway. Probably settled over 18 holes and a wee dram. The tender process is just a niggling formality which has to take place. If any of you are lucky to get a touch. Then fair play and have a good one. Yes Moxy, i wouldnt be one bit surprised,if that was the case............Believe it or not ,the same place had a massive rat problem also, less than ten years back. The solution ?...........was to bring in an oufit from New Zeal
  24. The national trust ( scotland ) are about to tender out, a rabbit control contract,on the small scottish island of Canna. Its all over the press and media. ( do a search)
  25. Someones currently selling some on ebay.Described as " spot on " for mole traps. ( judge for yourself ) Also noticed a colour mutation mole,in the taxidermy section.
