  1. Thats what i thought "foul catches" meant too, Talpa,..lol
  2. wrong again your changing. "catching it by " From "catching it with" For the sake of clarity; I mean that I think the moles back leg may activate the trigger (knocking it forward) as the mole climbs over it. Hence the jaws not having anything in them. Yes, and i may have 'misinterpreted' what you meant by "foul capture", also.Cause i thought you meant caught or even 'pinched', the mole, in an undesirable part of its body ? But maybe you didnt ? ( just to confuse matters, further) ha ha ha . Someone else described having moles pinched under their belly. Do try and keep up.

  8. I gather these 'putanges' are a similar design, to the 'nomol' ? My brother sent me over the 'nomol', (lives in the states) long before, they took off over here.I tried them out for the 'novelty', and caught with IT (only set one , without pegging it with the cane) lol,....so i dont doubt at all, you can catch well, with them.
  9. " in my opinion some of the foul captures are caused by a mole going over the top of the trigger hoop and then catching it by the back leg " ,..... i doubt it, the moles body has cleared the 'jaws', by then ? (hope i understand what you mean, this time ?) lol
  10. Valid points. In my opinion some of the foul captures are caused by a mole going over the top of the trigger hoop and then catching it with a back leg. This got me thinking about the design of them and I did wonder about all that wirework the mole has to clamber over before it gets to the trigger. All the machinery is slap bang in the middle. Possibly they may work better on their sides? Never, had a mole caught by the "back leg", in one. Me neither. The mole has long gone past the jaws by the time its back leg hits the trigger. Sorry, i misunderstood you,on that one,...lol

  12. I wouldnt necessarily agree, with all youve put here.Discussing some of your "trap improvement" ideas with Steve, should be interesting, though.See if theres any 'validity', to them ?
  13. Well , i suppose this highlights, how much opinions about mole traps, can differ among us ? lol
  14. ha ha ha, good one bryn27. (i bet your not kidding, either) ?
  15. Ha ha , i know EXACTLY , what you mean,.. Dear old 'Fidgety' off here sent me a couple to play with a very kind gesture, I must say, but I wondered why he put a sticking plaster in the parcel with the traps right up to the point where I first set one Not for me I'm afraid It's 'Dodgy Duffus' or Talpex down here right now... until we get the new 'wonder trap' I hear you , mate. (know where your coming, from) lol & it still doesnt feel ,.....quite right. (probably never will) so i will be looking forward, to the "improved" duffus ? lol

  18. I must admit, i DEFINITELY underrated these traps,initially,......and thats ALL im saying, LOL
  19. Think i read somewhere once, it wasnt as effective for moles, as strychnine,& the taste of it, puts them off ?
  20. If we keep going like this, your gonna do 'ole Jeff ', & ' Brian & co ', out of a career,....lol.You wouldnt want to , upset , (what was it i read again, once, on the BTMR site ?) " our revered founder " ha ha ha
  21. ha ha , even if the 'decimal point',was moved a digit, i doubt they would shift it !
  22. Nice to see this version, of a "vintage trap design",being put to good use,.....lol Nice to talk earlier earthy If only I had mains gas or water, a modicum of technical engineering ability and really short arms I'd be knocking those things out on ebay left right and centre, and using the money I made to buy some nice shiny stainless steel duffus traps It sure as hell is nice to see them in use though all credit to you Perthy... Feelings mutual,Matt.

  24. Is that dibber of yours pointed,at the end ? you can still use them, like that,...but i prefer a "bullet" ,on the end,....lol Yes the probe is pointed, has always worked for me, know nothing different, but may buy a "bullet" probe just in case it is actually better I find a dibber which tapers, at the end, is better to use in really "stony soil", than one with a tip,....
