  5. pre ban the sporting chance is given to a fox your running,.................and they aint that easy to catch sometimes lol what would people get out of killing a helpless fox in a fence.......... a dog / hound is an apex predator to a fox and its natural to a dog or instinct to take a fox ........................nothing more natural me thinks some places need controlling and if that was on permission of mine that had fox problems i still wouldnt of killed it because thats not the way i work.................i believe in a sporting chance thats just the way i am,................im sure the f

  7. thanks for shareing ,....i would of thought you would use bigger dogs and save a few injuries to the smaller ones........ i havent a clue about hog hunting lol
  8. each to there own i prefer a nice traditional method with nets and a dukel as we do alot of hedges and i wouldnt use a gun because i dont think its safe ...............you can miss a rabbit with a gun but not usually with a net and you could be putting pugs at risk from a shot towards the ground...........lol............. and then you got the dog as back up and i think the bag would be better the traditional way...........(just my opionion) i like the tranquility of the countryside and it would do my head in with that racket let alone what state the meat is in after they had a cartridge put
  9. you intended to do what is right for the animal.............and it was a good intention which shows how much you respect animals and the countryside.................. others might of thought it may suffer and put it out of its misery and you gave it a chance ,............there very hard animals and it may make a decent recovery..........who knows ......
  10. waste of time................nothing else would want to bolt after hearing that racket above ground ...............ferreting should be done with minimal sound and disturbance ok when your bushing trying to push things out of cover to other dogs
  11. where are they suppose to release them .............no matter where they do it , it will always be someones problem and im all for them helping animals and releasing them and if that means doing what we love by controlling them then so be it .................. but i understand what you mean they will release them near poultry farms etc .....................which for the farmer is a pest but keeps us busy..................
  12. Hoodwinking is not strong enough....its theft !......The rspca spend 5 million per year on prosecutions............when you donate to childrens charities you know your money is helping children...................when old Auntie Mabel puts her fiver in an rspca tin she thinks her money is helping animals not fighting crime !.......i,ll pay money to help any child but im not paying money to fight crime..............donate to the rspca and you dont get a choice. great statement,............you always see media of animals in a bad state which make folk think there contributing to a good cause
  13. your right pal and to be honest i wasnt thinking straight ....................i was just remembering how we done it years ago and really forgot about the current time were in and i should of stated preban ...................so i got meself to blame i guess im just old fashioned ............... i dont do much these days with the terriers and there was terriers in my garden when they visited and they were happy............but i only keep pet russells ,..........which wouldnt harm a thing..... so hence why they were happy.............. your right about it not helping the whole cause of things..
  14. i hope the antis read this as we are all classed as blood thirsty killers...............well done for doing what you think was right .......... you gave it a chance ,.............others wouldnt of .......... respect for that
  15. alimac for the record report me to the mods if its so wrong , i was just telling the lad how we use to do it years ago ..............just to help him out ........... ive had the rspca around mine and because i never break the law they were happy with what they seen and were very pleasant............... this is why im so open because i have nothing to hide they are welcome around any time and i would make them a nice cup of tea..............lol attitudes like yours make me wonder if your self and others have got alot hide...........
  16. very good reply whippet99. the only thing different that we would do is to use a garden fork instead of the spade the young dog can see the quarry and work it without getting too much stick. this is also great for teaching young hounds to mark. I personally don't like stop ending, if anything I would only let the dog see slightly behind the shovel and not get any stick, Just letting it know its their and smell up close, ragging a dead fox is good just to get them interested. The thing I don't like with stop ending is that it can easily ruin a dog, Every dog becomes a hero when you b
