  1. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. The goal isn't to match animals. This isn't bear baiting. The goal is to hunt and catch pigs. If I were to put the roughest APBT on a mean boar hog the hog would have the dog killed in less than 20 minutes. It is a race to get to the hog before it kills dogs.
  2. A nice game-bred pit is harder to handle but full of fire. Or, you could try your luck with one of these S**t eaters..... They should be on fire!
  3. My buddy has some pups. Not sure where you are from, but I am in the States.
  4. Thanks guys. I have some more videos I've posted on my youtube channel. They may be a little too rough for this forum though.
  5. I have crossed my best jagd with a game bitch. My jagd was killed two weeks ago I have some pure jagd pups off of him too. I did this cross breed to try to pull some of the bark out of the jagd and put some more size in it (all for hog hunting). Hopefully I get some dogs with nose and range. We will see....
  6. Real tight bolio on top. Bottom is scatterbred.
  7. Just do a search for hog cut vests. There are tons of different styles. They are all flexible. I use cut collars and vests in combination. Some vests have the collar built in. Usually you have to have them specially cut for small dogs like the jagdterrier. They run about 35-75 USD.
  8. I vest my dogs in Kevlar sometimes. Usually though it is too hot for them to wear it. Plus the hogs tusk will cut right through them. My dog got six deep cuts through the vest in October. Basically shredded the vest. It is was double layered kevlar with a felt pad inside. Didn't matter. The dog was still all cut up. Good catch dogs will learn to catch the ear. If they catch lower or on the snout they will get ran through.
  9. The little dogs usually just bounce when they get hit. The big dogs almost always get torn up more.
  10. Haha, mine work! No these dogs are off my German male and off Arkan and April. I haven't bred Krol yet. I will probably stick him to April next. He has figured out the hogs pretty well now. Only problem is he is an older dog. We will basically just use him for breeding. You do the drahthaar cross yet?
  11. This is a video of my dog Hammerin Hank. The dog is not yet a year old. He bayed up a really nice hog for over 10 minutes, but the catch dog was on another hog. He got a little too aggressive and ended up cut. He is doing good now though. Just required some staples. http://youtu.be/YBAcdUN1o5A
  12. White dog is straight pit, however he has a touch of blue lines in him. He is actually a tall dog. He just looks a little squatty anytime I come around with a video camera. Those pits can be pretty timid. Here are some more videos from the trip:
  13. I tried to post this once. Not sure why it isn't working. Anyway, great hunt this weekend. Here are some highlights:
  14. I always take a third. I like a longer dock. They are easier to grab with a little more handle.
