  1. Exactly this ? This section is full of those that talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Only a small handful actually get their boots dirty . Meant to be a hunting forum but more like Mumsnet ffs
  2. I knew it was dead but he made it even deader ? Have you put your dummy back in , I thought you weren't posting anymore ??
  3. Too true , I am the same ,done it for years as nobody meets my high standard ? Nothing wrong with being a grumpy old man ?
  4. Yep it's all about being seen to have done something
  5. So you were right ...a dickhead. I've always used soft points with no problem , I've found v max worse with the bullet splashing and not killing the fox.
  6. Wise words. The HMR is marginal on foxes and I see nothing wrong with another insurance shot. Personally if I was targeting foxes I would only use a centrefire ,the foxes I have shot with HMR were all opportunistic when out shooting rabbits .
  7. You can take as much as you want but better invite Ben down ?
  8. Ffs you are only jealous. We share a common interest i.e. shooting. We actually get out in the field a lot not like you and the other pretenders on here . Now run along little boy and fiddle with your sheep ? It must be awful reading all these hunting threads when all you can do is wonder what if ? I pity your sad pathetic little life.
  9. Thousands in Northumberland but still in big groups.
  10. They were shown this pic and well impressed
  11. Pity we arent as some serious culling would be going on ?
  12. Yep I would soon sort them but its not my ground. Good news as I was elected at the shoots AGM to shoot the pigeons and crows on 1000 acres as nobody else bothers. The area is great for both , place is alive with the blacks so cant wait to get on it this year ?
  13. No mate Northumberland. Forester has just emailed my mate to say he saw 9 this morning in a new planting and to get them sorted.
  14. Glad to report no drama on my outing last night with the HMR. Performed well again missing only 3 shots but that was due to me snatching as rabbits skittish and wouldn't sit still , consequently trying to track them on the quads isn't easy but I do like a challenge. Furthest shot was 108 paces ? Getting old though for stomping about the Durham hills carrying a full game bag but still I cant help myself.
  15. Yep a trans roe ...the poor unfortunate soul ran out in front of the van and committed suicide.
  16. I'm using Winchester , all cases checked but will be listening for the click.
  17. Yesterday afternoon I set off with my mate to cull some of the roe on his ground. Only 2 does have been taken so far so a few need thinning out. The weather forecast had changed and the winds were now 40mph hence no roe out in the open where we were expecting them so a change of plan saw us heading to the lea side of the big wood where it was sheltered. Almost immediately I spotted 4 roe edging along the side of the wood heading for a rough corner where they always head to. We made a large circle to get the wind right and were soon within 60 yards of them in some cover . To cut
  18. Thanks for that , out again with mine tonight but have all these thoughts going on in my mind now ,
