Ok then. Foxes do the most damage in the Spring when feeding Cubs killing lambs and taking a lot of rare birds chicks. We should stop hunting them in Winter when they are doing no harm ???

Our FEO doesnt know one end of a gun from another ? Hes wrong ...read the wildlife and countryside act.

I think your FEO is wrong , as I understand it all birds and animals are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 unless they are a game species which have seasons or a pest species covered under the General License. Therefore shooting a raccoon would be illegal as it is not on the recognised quarry list for mammals.

He was a big bodied beast. Farmer was out with me so no pressure ...150 yds off sticks , took top of heart off? I showed him a Level 2 gralloch and he was well impressed.

Yep I saw one at Wittonstall , coming home from lamping at around 4am and saw it walking down the side of the road. I stopped the car , opened the door and it walked past no more than 3ft away and continued into the garden of a nearby property. I think it was just an escapee though as the local police wildlife officers place was just at the top of the bank and he had all sorts of wildlife. It was actually on the North East news as the property owners caught it on camera.

See bullfinches , goldfinches and chaffinches up here. Watching curlew and lapwing yesterday whilst out stalking and a barn owl put in an appearance. Plenty nuthatch and treecreepers too.
