  3. Out yesterday in the gale force winds trying to shoot woodies......................great sport but very poor cartridge/kill ratio. The birds were very sporting in the gale force winds ........................had a good day and we managed to pick 41.
  4. I also had deer stalking on my ticket before gaining level 1 & 2 .As long as you have permission to shoot deer it should be sufficient ...................... but I have thought for some time now that the police will start on insisting on level 1 before putting deer stalking on your ticket. I strongly recommend you take the course as being a newcomer to stalking you will learn quite a lot. You cant have enough knowledge. Good luck with your choice of calibre but I recommend the .243 , great calibre with which I have taken all 6 species of deer. Let us know how you get on .

  9. Job sorted I hope , well done mate. What do you think of that amber filter now ............it certainly does the job eh............. We also got called out last night to sort out a lambkiller ................. flicked lamp on in lambing field and spotted a fox straight away sniffing around a couple of ewes with new born lambs. It was walking away from us so I gave it a tiny squeal with my lips only to stop it but it turned and sreamed in straight at us. It had to go through some gorse to get to us so as it disappeared i told my mate to be ready with the rifle because as soon as it

  14. I read in the Shooting times this week that squirrel pox has hit the red squirrel population in NORTHUMBERLAND FOR THE SECOND TIME. The virus has so far killed 15 red squirrels in the Morpeth area and is feared could spread to the Kielder reserve where 65% of the UKs reds live ............................I hope not as I love watching there cheeky antics whilst Im stalking my ground. So come on any lads from Northumberland get out and cull some grey invaders !! I dispatched this one yesterday
  15. Hi V-max, After the first casting , the muntjac bucks antler cycle follows a regular adult pattern of shedding antlers in late April - May and cleaning the velvet off the new ones by September. CWD bucks do not have antlers but have sharp tusks which they use for fighting and marking territories. If you want I can probably arrange a trip on the munties next year if you fancy it !!!
