  5. In my book foxes are shot whenever I get the opportunity , its about fox control not sport These foxes were shot on a small pheasant shoot where the shoot captain was very pleased , every nesting hen pheasant or partridge saved is a real bonus to them.
  6. On the ground at 5.50 am this morning , saw 2 does in field where I parked my car. Continued further on and spied a fox trotting straight towards me down a tractor track , I quickly lay down and let it come to me , shot it on the trot stright under its chin I spied another doe browsing on a hedge in next field , proceeding further on down some set aside I spied another doe , this time helping itself on a pheasant feeder , Where are the bucks I thought ? It was now nearly 8 am and I had one spot left to try , as I stalked along a thick banking another doe took flight , I t
  7. Well I was out again this morning at 6am to try and get my mates 1st buck of the season. Got him onto a lovely 6 pointer standing amongst some trees but unfortunately his shot struck a branch and the buck got away , very lucky. Never mind he managed to drop a charlie on the way back

  9. I arrived on my ground at 6am this morning just breaking light.I stalked across the 1st field and came to a hedgerow which I glassed down and spotted a buck about 250 yards away. I stalked down the other side of the hedge when all of a sudden the buck appeared through the hedge about 150 yards away , it appeared to have a limp . I dropped to the ground and crawled for some 40 yards or so to get into a shooting position , the buck turned broadside so I delivered a heart shot , he ran for about 30 yards or so before collapsing dead. 6.10 am and I had been lucky already I dragge

  12. Cheers lads .................I totally agree that the lamp man is very important , that is why I normally lamp most times out as it is very hard to get a good lamp man. I lamp more times than I shoot these days. Woodga , I was very grateful for your assistance on the night , it is definitely about a good partnership when lamping as we have testified on many a night in the past. Good teams get good results
  13. I guess the distance was about 120 yards
  14. Went to check the lambing fields friday evening and as I was talking to the farmer I spotted a fox skulking down the hedgerow in the next field , but too far for a shot. Laid up til dark but it never returned. Was back on the ground 6am the next morning , had a good wander about but no sightings of charlie just 3 roe does. So to plan B , out with the lamp last night. Lamped a fox in a field of gorse but it was hiding behind a hawthorn bush and I couldnt get a clear shot at it , so after about 20 mins playing it with about 4 different calls we gave a very harsh screaming call an

Went to see him today for a craic , while I was there had a quick walk around with shotty , only saw 2 greys which both met there end . Planned to go tonite with lamp but bloody fog dropped in again , hopefully try again tomorrow.

  19. Went out last night with the lamp to the Scottish Borders even though the weather was a bit misty , just went for a wander really. Stood by the edge of a strip wood and started calling, after a few minutes a fox appeared in the next field , I then changed the call to a mouse squeak and pulled the fox in to about 100 yards ....................... He was an old dog fox with a lot of teeth missing .....................
