    Favourite bird has to be the barn owl. Love seeing all species of deer and particularly the beautiful red fox...

    Out last night to try and call a buck, only saw a doe but took charlie instead 165 yards of fa dry stone wall

    Got to within a few yards of this doe........ no bucka about She didnt want to leave.... Ended up with charlie...

    Out this morning at 4.30am , tried a call at a spot where I saw a doe during the week. After about 30 seconds or so a doe came running towards me up the field stopping only 15 yards from me , she stared at me for about 10 seconds then casually sauntered off. 'No buck ' I thought , however about 30 seconds later a buck emerged from the same part of the wood and slowly made his way towards me following the line of the doe which had just came to the call. So the rut is imminent .............get your calls out lads!!!!

    As it wasnt raining last night I popped out at 9pm last night for a quick look at a place for some cubs. As soon as I arrived I spotted a fox mooching about in the gorse , so I lay down and gave a quiet call , a well grown dog cub came bounding from the cover and was taken immediately. I thought where there is one there may be others so set myself up with a good vantage point and started calling again ......... After about a minute or so I spotted another cub coming in really well , this one shared the same fate as the other I continued calling and another cub showed

    The alarm went off yesterday morning at 4am , I looked out the window and it wasnt raining but it was windy so I went out to see what I could find. On arrival at a local farm I was beginning to wish I had stayed in bed as the wind was gale force and the cover soaking wet I stalked up the side of an oat field and could smell a fox had been here earlier , then I noticed old charlie slinking up the side of the field only 30 yards in front but I immediately lost sight of it .     Good stuff mate , glad you have eventually made a kill with the tikka . That set a side field seems to be a cracker for the roe. Are there a few bucks showing in that area now ? Should have some good calling around there in the rut !! Have the deer re-appeared on that field you showed me that holds big numbers but they had disappeared when we went ? Also any munties being seen around the chicken farm ?? Speak shortly mate , hopefully the Tikka will get some fallow deer later

    Aye Remmy , but that beast was so pumped up after running about all over chasing those other deer it was never going to drop on the spot mate unless youd necked it !!

    Remmy , try placing your bullet a little higher , high lung shot I find it drops them better than a heart shot.

    Ditch , soft points mate . The round just passed straight through the maggy with little damage , the woodies back end was blown off and the rabbit had a very large exit wound. The victims were tastefully arranged so as not to offend anyone. I went out on my own but the farmers son joined me to wait for the fox , he took the pic !! Very observant of you Ditch !!
