  1. Its difficult to age roe mate in years but its a young beast , probably a yearling maybe 2 years old at most !!
  2. Yes John it had a slight puncture under its eye which I can only presume was caused by another buck. The lymph nodes were fine in fact the beast was in very good condition weighing in at 48 lbs ....
  3. I was out for an evening stalk the other night basking in the sunshine , which makes a nice change , when I noticed a buck feeding on buttercups in a hay meadow about 300 yards away. I had to crawl on hands and knees til I got about 120 yards from the buck , I was sweating profusely I can tell you !!!! As he fell ..... As I performed the gralloch I noticed he was blind in one eye ... He was also wearing his Aladdins slippers .... He weighed 48lbs and was in great condition but I think better off being cull
  4. He posted on another site of shooting a buck at 245 m yet hes very quick to slag off others for doing this Keep it real Is this best practice
  5. Very poor game I thought . Nearly fell asleep !!Heskey one on one with goalie should have scored , pity it wasnt Shearer !!!
  6. I was watching Zeppelin on the TV last night live and was captivated about how good bands were live back in the old days. I have trawled you tube today and gone back to my youth . Zeppelins Whole Lotta Love and Stairway to Heaven along with Rush - Spirit of the Radio ... Whats your favourites ???
  7. Brilliant pics Tommy , never seen or heard of a munty like that one , its special
  8. Yesterday evening I had a run out to a farm where I normally shoot the rabbits for him once or twice a year. His living is selling hay and silage and as the grass isnt growing well this year due to lack of rain he was more than happy for the rabbits to be culled. Well there was no where near the numbers I normally see here , probably due to the severe winter weve had but I still managed to have a decent session !!
  9. Thats a cracking weekend mate .Ive given up looking for deer at the minute hoping to be a bit more lucky in the rut....
  10. Yep Jon , still in winter coat in Scotland.
  11. No need to write a post pic says it all .....
  12. It probably wont even start here the way my luck has been , worst season I can remember. I will have to come down to Wilts and you can show me how to call
  13. A farmer phoned the other day to advise she had sown a field with spring barley and the crows were hitting it. Could I have a go at shooting them ? So I arrived at the farm at 4.30 and went for a stalk first but once again no luck only saw 2 does , I got to within 30 yards of this one .... I then set up on the field at 6am and had a good couple of hours shooting , missing next to nothing. I picked 54 corvids and 2 woodies for 75 cartridges !! The farmer was very grateful and I went home with a nice leg of lamb !!!
  14. I can vouch for V-maxs professionalism. He is very meticulous in his work from gralloching the deer to his larder work in fact I have never seen someone so fussy. He will not allow a single pin from the deer pelage to come into contact with the meat and not to mention straight joints whilst removing the deers feet. Wireviz you could probably learn something from him ......
  15. Can you give me some of your luck mate as mine seems to have run out ....
  16. FD you are a naughty boy neck shooting deer at 150 yrds , you should have your licence revoked ...
  17. I chest shoot most deer in the high lung area but have on a few occasions neck shot them usually when they are at close range...
  18. Nice one mate , Im sure FD wont mind , hes got plenty bucks to shoot anyway !!
  19. My mate had a fox peer into his living room window the other night , it then proceeded to harrass his neighbours pheasants which he keeps out the back of his house. So he contacted the adjacent landowner and asked if he could lay in wait with the rifle. Permission granted we lay in ambush spying a gorse bank below us. At around 9pm not 1 fox but 3 emerged from the gorse but never presented a shot. Then a little while later I noticed a fox on its travels heading up the grass field in front of us, I gave it a shout and quickly dispatched it with a shot to the head. 1 accounted for but th
