Thanks for that , ill give it a go during the week weather permitting

What is is like safety wise . The lad who I'll be going with is in his 60's and not in the best of health and he's a bit worried about getting cut off

Thanks for the replies . Called in at bispham angling earlier and the woman serving said the same about it not fishing well . If the weathers not too bad , ill have a look at 5bar gate monday or tuesday and just see how things go

Can anyone give any tips for fishing round the blackpool , bispham , clevelys areas . Ive just bought some beach casting gear but im a total novice when it comes to sea fishing and im not sure what kind of rigs to use for different fish or even which fish are going to be around .

I have that as well it's very limited chrome casts are brilliant if you know how too use them there great there is not a show I can't find and put on my TV with the Internet and a iPadCan you recommend any good ones for films and TV now movietube has gone . I tried movietube.ws but it's only got films and half of them won't work with my iPhone . Also are there any places for sports that can be cast from my phone , I found one for football that played on my phone but wouldn't allow me to cast it .

Emailing them to myself and reducing them with the options that come up is working for me on my iphone

The stream kit will be ok for it , just watch for striking too fast though or the rod will act like a spring with the really small fish and catapult them out the water towards you . I sometimes go on a little overgrown stream near haslingden that goes in to the irwell . Never had anything over about half a lb out of it but it's decent fishing , you get some funny looks from the dog walkers though when they see you wading in a stream you could jump across in most places

The rod was an old 7ft 3wt Shakespeare oddysey xt , the reel a small 3wt one and the line a snowbee thistledown with a silk furled leader and an 0.10 reflo line tippet , the flys that got most interest were size 22 f-flies . I started with a little nymph on a dropper aswell but never had a touch on it so just cut it off and carried on with the dry . I should of used one of my longer 3 or 4 wt rods because the 7ft struggled with hitting fast bites with a longish line out and also struggled with the wind aswell . Be warned though it's not that easy . I've had loads of dace on the river on flies
-
Had a go with the fly and only managed 2 little roach on a size 22 black f-fly . I thought dace were quick but I must of missed about 40 rises . The head on wind was making it hard to present the fly properly which didn't help though . Can't see me giving it many more goes , it's very frustrating .

Funny you mention that , ive been thinking of trying that for a while now , ive had chub , dace and minnows on the river on dries and pike on the canal on flies but never got round to having a go for roach . Ive got a little 7ft 3wt and a load of 20&22 dries to give it a go . If its not raining tomorrow night ill have a look on and see if i can get some .

I used to be obsessed with big pike and used to travel all over chasing them but it got to the stage that i was just going through the motions and if they didnt look over 20 i wouldnt even bother weighing or photographing them , now i prefer ultra lighting on the canal for anything that takes the lure . Last year i had countless perch to about 2lb and at least 300 pike from the canal and none of them came broke double figures but like you said , when you get one on the ul gear its good sport
-
Believe it or not that wasnt even the smallest one , the smallest was about the size of my little finger .
-
Had an hour on the canal early on trying to bag a roach on a lure . Had 3 of them annoyingly drop off under the rod top but I did manage about a dozen tiny perch and a couple of surprise little jacks on a 0.8 inch crazy fish whitebait with a size 12 big eye hook and a little fly tying bead . I normally use 12lb knot 2 kinky for ultra light traces but because I was Texas rigging such a small lure for roach and perch I went with 4lb flouro . There was a knack to getting the lure to work right but once I cracked it the perch were fairly easy and if I'd have taken my solid tip rod I would have had

Does my head in when people try to stitch you up on the bank . You can sort of understand why they do it but there's no real need for it . It might be worth prebaiting a couple of swims for a day or 2 if that's what they are doing and there's not a big head of barbel . The reason hardly any bait works for me on the ribble is because it's full of barbel and chub so your never far from them . Nash baits should be ok , I've done well on a few of his baits in the past and halibut flavour is as good as anything and elips pellets are used by loads of people on nearly every river so there won't be a

Have you tried fishing at the back end of fast water where it starts to drop off in to deeper water . Ive always done better in well oxygenated faster water in summer rather than the slower moving deeper pegs . Dont know if you have any pegs like that on your stretch but if you have its well worth fishing them and ingnoring where most of the other anglers fish The Dove is a funny river. Most of the big Barbel are in one stretch, most of the fishing gets done in this stretch. There are some faster swims with streamer weed in them. They don't seem to be fished very often. One or two d

Of course it isnt , but theres more than the old news paper story about him and dog fighting online , including from mclellan jr and people who knew him although his sister does say its not true . Like i said though , i remember it from an interview on tv from way back but for the life of me i cant remember where . Might be he was just trying to make himself sound like a badboy to hype the fight but then again maybe he was just like that .

Gob shyte and nasty b*****d for sure...but i wouldnt wish anyone blind and crippled...based on the stories sold to willing journalists...by distant relatives from the ghetto looking for a few dollars.. I've seen a bit of film where he himself admited to tieing up labs for his pit bulls so no hyped up stories did my eyes see and i have no sympathy for a totaly cruel fecker like him who also took plessure in hurting people badly or trying to kill them in the ring (his own trainer says that on that film link).I haven't wished him ill but be a cnut and cnut things happen to you end of really th

We call it "bullying the fish in" it's common practice with catch and release in still water trout. Thick gauge hooks help as well, minimising mouth damage.Lots of fishermen (especially coarse fishermen) underestimate the energy that fish put into their fight and "carefully" playing such hard fighting fish such as Barbel, Trout, etc can be killing them with kindness. I've said the same thing myself to people on the bank about not messing about getting them in quick . You see them panic as a barbel puts a bend in the rod so they lower the tip and slacken the clutch and end up playing them fo

One of mine does it all the time but only when it's the Mrs and not me who's there . He had some steaks off yesterday that the she had done and even though she knows what he's like he still manages to outwit her , as mad it sounds it's like he even creates distractions if he can't get straight to it like grabbing a tea towel or a shoe and running off to the next room knowing that she will go and take it off him and as soon as she does he runs back past her and grabs what he wants .

Like the look of the inline trout , the inline pike look good aswell . Ive had some on the 20 cm 3d rattle trout including one that picked it up static like a deadbait in 30ft of water . I dont think my rod would take 300g although i have lobbed the occasional mag dawg and fox deviant which are around the 7-8oz mark i wouldnt like to do it all day . If you want a big lure have a look at the musky innovations pounder and 2pounder dawgs , they also do rods with massive ratings to match them . A river 20 would be nice but theres not many rivers round here that will do it

Solid traces are the only way to go with the big stuff . Which abu do you use , Ive had 5501c3 and 6601c4 but prefer shimanos and okumas but ive noticed a lot of people relly rate the new abus with the drop down gears 6501c4 is the big reel, I also have a shimano for lighter work and that can cast a loooong way! I prefer the shimanos to abus , I had the silver c3 and the blue and gold c4 but they feel a bit agricultural and not the same feel as the 401 corvalus and Cardiffs I've had . If your ever in the market for a new low profile multi have a look at the okuma Helios air , I've been a pro
