    26tts , bull grey x fell hound grey ..........head like a bucket , coat like a scrubbing brush , immense jaw power and prey drive , a real loner of a dog , would lye in kennel quiet all day , but the minutr he knew he was working he changed , used to shake Charlies once , drop them and walk away ! His first roe , he locked on that tight , I had to drag him and the roe to the van ............not good when you need a quick getaway !

    Once took a bet of 100k at 2/1 on horse called Magic Ring at Royal Ascot , never even altered the price , it won , cost him 200k , never flinched , you would have thought he had just paid out a tenner ! A superb bookie , shrewd and fearless !

    The old bill chased my brother but he lost them in the beer tent ! Henerita was one of the best killers of a hare I ever saw there , fast up and killed them very quickly , took my money off Stephen Little , nearly 400 , but he still went home in the Bentley and fur coat ! I have my card from the last day , signed by the slipper and judge , proudly framed on my wall .

    Max , you wouldn't remember us but it was my brother who you asked for a light to light your " ball of mud " ...........and yes it did make them scatter !!! Fond memories , never seen so much tweed on a dancefloor as you used to get at the Scarisbrick disco !! Remember the year Henerita won it , we backed her from the first round all the way through to the final , she killed her hare in every round including the final , paid the hotel bill she did !

    Remember him turning up at a show in a brand new Subaru with the reg plate LGF 1 , .............told me he had brought car and the plate .....on way home I passed him in a lay by , putting the proper plates on , turns out car was on test drive !! A character which the game needs from time to time !

    I was pulled over on M6 on a Sunday on way back from a rugby match and told my car was marked for rural crime , few days later had a letter saying my car had been seen in daytime parked on a lane and a member of the public " thought I may be going to commit a crime as I had a lurcher " !!! , I was on public footpath , the land holds no game , but he decided I was about to commit a crime !     Ray its bloody frustrating , the brindle bull x I had ate his kennel , I covered it with a mix of chilli , mustard , etc ..............he ate it and stood there licking his lips and wagging his tail , so I muzzled him ...............he got it off and ate it ! He did eventually stop it ..............but was then killed out lamping !!!

    Gnash , don't know if you agree but its easier to pull stunts in the amateurs than in pros ! .............My nephew has just turned 11 and has had 2 fights recently , 1w , 1l ,thing is he has been in the gym 2/3 nights per week since he was 6 , so he was a very experienced " starter " a bit unfair on his opponent to be honest , he lost his 2nd fight to a disgracefull " home show " decision in Coventry , even the winners father apologised for it !     Cant see England getting a lot out of NZ , the NZ backrow have 260 caps between the 3 of them , its a pretty daunting task , never mind , I am going to the Samoa game so looking forward to the next couple of weeks anyway .

    I had a 1/4 bull x 1/4 foxhound greyhound , 26 tts , coat like a wire brush , head like a bucket , immense jaw power , he never hunted up on lamp ., was hard as nails , if I could have one dog back it would be him , caught anything from rabbits to stags , never seen a dog with such little emotion , he would just shake it once , drop it and walk away !

    First time I had them , I was at work , managed to get home , paramedics came and wanted to take me in but my lad was boxing on the night so I rode it out and went to watch him , I looked terrible , was a shade of yellow . Second time I went in the ambulance , passed out in agony , took 2 morphine jabs to ease it , spent weekend in hospital , pain was unbearable , still got it in my kidney as they say its too small to laser , its like walking round with a timebomb in you , never knowing when its going to fire up again !

    I gave up funding the promoters Range Rover years ago ! Apart from that the atmosphere has gone , the lurcher ring is full of women who I find hard to believe that spend their nights walking round muddy fields with a lamp ! As most things nowadays , money has taken over and ruined it .
