  1. Not denying that the rules need to strict, but i dont think anyone has a problem with having strict rules as long as they are applied fairly. For instane the lad in my post asked them to stop and get back in line, and yes he did really need his scg as he was the gamekeepers son and would regulary help out.
  2. I know a native american now living over here, and he is really into his bow hunting when he goes back to america (or canada...cant remember) and he'll shoot things with his bow (a modern bow but still admirable) that i wouldnt think of like, elk, mule deer (i think...?) and bears (not beers) and all sorts. no doubt theres skiill in it . But to answer the original question: bow hunting on this country is illegal no matter what animal it is .
  3. I agree with you there, for ever walking on egg shells, one lad i know had his scg tacken away because he went out one night and his girlfriend rceived some pretty derogaratory comments so, whilst standing up for her the guys went for him and beat several shade out of him as well as putting a knife in him, but as he was seem walkin up to them it was seen to be him being agressive.
  4. Thats the cheapest so far, i just got quoted £20 short of £4k. and thats with pass plus.
  5. im only 17 but still i think thats well steep.
  6. Got a quote for my car insurance today...1989 polo 1000cc ......they wanted £1835.47 just for 3rd party.........Rediculous.
  7. What advantages / disadvantages does the gas ram have over a spring is it just that it does fatigue like the springs???
  8. yep i agree aswell :] i have the excalibre but i dont think i have the carbine. nice and light aswell. Well im only guessing as well as i havent been able to see pictures of the carbine and standard side by side. mines got the 16" barrel so.... Im trying to find another magazine for it but they are (in my veiw really dear) but i guess i'll have to bite the bullet (pun intended)
  9. I WANT ONE, how much would it cost to do this as the factory built crewcabs are like rocking horse manure and bloomin dear new. that looks the mutts'
  10. Why are you so against shooters....it seems that your just insulting every shooter who expresses theire opinion, and this does nothing for our way of life.
  11. Sorry misundersstanding i thought you wanted to just let them go where they fancy. i think the best way to keep them in would be a really hefty pig fence coupled with electric fence.
  12. When you say release do you mean actually release or have them enclosed, because i have a feeling they come under dangerous animals so you would need a licence to farm them, and i dont think realeasing them would be legal.
  13. excellent. (try to avoid sounding like mr burns there) i'm downloading it now, if i figure it out i'll drop you a pm or something...no promises im a techno retard...
  14. That sort of thing is priceless for on goin pestcontrol where you report to the owner. can i ask how much something like that sets you back and where from??
  15. God knows how you expected us to deduce that from your first post. But the way to do it to ignore the barriers that have highlighted in this thread between dog and gun user and actually talk to each other, rather than slagging off their chosen sport. it not going to improve anything is it now
  16. Right this is how i see the situation: Some of The dog gentlmen and ladies are accusing shooting as being unskilled, not essential and inhumane...Now i dont see the need for this argument (which is what its turned into), the hunting, shooting, fishing and general country side fraternities should pull together as we're all in the medias spot light. I myself, have ferrets but i do by and large shoot more (due to seasons), i shoot rabbit bolted by my ferrets, and i net them. So how this shooting can be classed as "Easy" i do not know. As for the ban on shooting at night, Why on earth would
  17. Returning to the original post i too will be retiring my air rifle from feather following a vey similar situatuion this morning. Despite my best efforts, i still ended up wounding. and now feel a great shame that i couldnt deliver the respect every quarry deserves. I dont doubt my air rifle does the job as i have shot lots of rabbits, but i dont know why but the smaller vital area of feathered quarry, i dont feel confident in anymore. Edited to say that it wasnt just a shot because i could but because the magpie had been stealing eggs all week
  18. What would they confiscate your chickens despite them being well kept and healthy, seems to me like its one of those laws that has no current context but would cost money to overturn it so they just dont enforce it. not saying animal welfare comes into, thats vitally important.
  19. Some shop owners are bloomin odd in that respect, Myself and a friend asked cheshire gunrooms to take 2 mc nab woodcocks (about £2100 a piece) We was goin to buy them but when we got to the CLA gamefaire not only had he not brought them but when we asked simple questions about the spec of the different modles he said "that we better get your finger out your a**es and stop pissing about" needless to say wont be using him again.
  20. Im suprprised they are still bothering the rape, its about 5ft round here...shame pigeons dont have a look anymore
  21. The thing that screws me up is when lamping i change the magnification and get thrown out by the mil-dots aiming too high or too low as the POI changes. so i figure stick with one mag.....keep it simple for a simple mind.
  22. What brought this about was i just dug out an old scope of my late grandad's (i think its an old doctor) and whacked it on my gun, i have always used variable magnification with mil-dots, this one is a 4x32 with 30/30 and i love it so clear. so i'll zero it properly soon. Just wonering what everyone else prefers fixed or variables magnification (and range if variable) Thanks guys.....and gals. Joe
  23. I was wondering about this today as i have always used fairly wide mag scopes but today decided to put my late grandads old Doctor scope (really old) which is a fixed 4x32, and i love it, think i'll zero it properly and keep it there. I think this a case of quality is better than quantity. But just wondered what you prefer and if it is variable what sort of range do you prefer.
