  1. In that case I don't think expansion is what you are after, as a pellet that expands will not penetrate a deep. With a neck shot the thing you need is penetration in order to severe the spine. The last thing you need in that scenario is a pellet that will stop before it does that and stop in the muscle of the neck. Have you checked if your gun is close to 12 ft/lbs ?? Or are you taking the bunnies at a to great a distance ?? The autopsy of a shot wabbit should give some of the answers you are after. HTH Michael I mean it should be around 12ftlbs (its pcp and apparentl 11.5f
  2. Dont i know it, i got my SCG when i was 12 and just to makes sure my ma piled on as much tea and bacon sarnies as possible. 4 hours later and 2 loafs later my licence was in the bag lol.
  3. cheers guys. i know accuracy is paramount but recently for some reason or other i've been clumping the bunnies just below the skull in the neck ,which mean the do just have enough to kick about abit, and im after as little suffering as can be possibly done, i also thought that a little expansion coupled with accuracy cant be a bad thing. i use accupells which dont seem to expand or deform much.
  4. yh i have some expanding bolts that have a bolt with a metal collar . i take it thats what you mean by Rawlbolt (sorry for my naiveity)
  5. SBS or O/U is pretty much entirly down to personal preference, i prefer SBS as im retro and i find it bit better in terms of weight, comfort (when it broken over my arm) and i like how they come up. that said O/U guns are just as capable as SBS. as for calibre, this depends on your build and age. presuming your over the age of 14ish and of average statue id go with the 12bore, the cartridges are cheaper (when compared to all calibres especially .410) and the much wider choice of cartridges.
  6. sorry guys, i meant can't be seen. whod think typin the right words would be this bloody tricky. so no thats been cleared up, sound good?
  7. Im about to bolt in my gun cabinet and i've chosen the spot. I have chosen a corner in my room (with a brick wall on two side (one exterior wall one interior)) and i aalso chose this spot so the cabinet can be seen from the houses over the back (theres trees in the way but better safe than sorry). can any of you see any problems with this?? thanks alot.
  8. Not sure if yours is the same, but one my one, on the little "knob" on the top where you adjust the brightness (nearer the eye peice) and it can be undone with a flat head screw driver then just pop the battery out (watch type) with a tooth pick after unscrewing the holder for it. when putting the new one in i have to be bit careful where i position the holder as this affect the switch so it dont correspond to the dial on the knob ...but thats just me being pidantic you cant see the number when you need the illuminated reticle.
  9. It may seem im goin back on myself but Setter you do make a very good and probable argument. and it would be us lot being whacked with it all and those getting off scot free.
  10. Deffinatly a good idea. mainly because of the said chavs getting dogs to look " 'ard!" nd i dont think thats fair to the dog and is dangerous to others, im not saying all dogs like staffs are dangerous but its how they are brought up. and those who dont excercise their dogs really get on my titts as well.

Worrying really. The other week my teacher was marking the mock papers and the question was simple enough...."how long is this line..,give answer to nearest cm" the kid wrote 180 degrees.....bless.
  12. the cheapest i can find is around the 280-330 mark, and not many second hand ones are about .
  13. Careful of that my mate did that once....never the same again
  14. As some will know i have been wanting to get my FAC for and absolute age now, but due to farmers letting me down and me loosing my job it has somewhat put it back on the back burner. And still with no job, i think i'm just goin to say stuff it and try get a rifle. I was originally looking at a CZ american .22lr, but that is now out of my budget (unless i find one secondhand for the right amount). so through my searches i have come across loads of BSA supersport or similar with either a tubular magazine or the clip tpe, all for reasonable money. So how do these rifles perform, im n
  15. Im sorry bud for asking , can only imagine how many time you been asked that....just had to know. lol
  16. Im not entirley sure but if you did want a shotgun i think yo can get a FAC rated shotgun, like a 5 shot one, but im not sure if you need a SGC as well. Someone please correct me if im wrong. But i shouldnt think you'd have any problem getting a SCG if you already have rifles. also im not sure if your aware but they do a joint shotgun/rifle licence sort of thing which may be of use to your self (it works out cheaper than both together).
  17. I know you have probably been asked this hundreds of times and my apologies in advance. but what is that gun? never seen anything like that before.
  18. That one did a good job of jumpin on to a power line with no back feet. and for the ego......WOW!....im impressed.

  21. If your flushing rabbits have you thought about a .410 or similar, agreed it has to be bit closer than 50yrds but upto 35 i should think youd get a good chance of having a go. i used to do a fair bit of it and i loved it, should really dust off the old .410 and do some hegerow work again.
