  2. I think the fact that Boar are temendously heavily built has a factor in what calibre, althought i dont shoot deer or boar, i have buutchered both. and deer although big, the bone and "density" of the beast doesnt compare to the heavy boar.
  3. A 9mm "garden gun" with a stock my grandad made up and i used it in the pens and around barns on my unlcles shoot (nothing too challenging) . only used it for a few years then used a .410 with 2" cartridges. then progressed the same route as eveyone else. but im loving my 20bore at the moment although its proberly too small for me, im used to it and as a result have more good days than bad days, n.b this only happens after an awful lot of bad days. Now for the other posts: Pigeons are (in my veiw) one of the most challenging birds to shoot, especially if you flight them, but even decoy
  4. that makes sence. lol, i was looking at that and was thinking...is it a bipod, a chronometre lol. What sort of fishing tackle you after?
  5. In my experience, whose who have to think about how many feet of lead, tend to miss as they are over calculating and this doesnt help the game shot, no doubt lead is the problem but measuring lead (imo) is impossible. the only way to get better at this is to do a few clay but only a few, and dont get into the habit of ambushing the clay as is the case. you have to swing through the clay so its as similar to a game shot as possible. I must stress that only a few clays, as i find pigeon shooting is far better for "getting your eye in" than any clay. so get your self pigeon shooting and if you ca
  6. Thanks for your replies, but been sorted out by holdaway to whom im very greatful.
  7. I second SS there, i know here in kent the police say the minimum is .308 for boar and the ones i've seen shot with one dont show too much meat damage either.
  8. quite good?! the cheapest quote i've got is £1850 for a frikkin 1989 1ltr polo. who was that with mate? but they are pretty good off road, really light as well, just got to know its limits. my friend is into opff roading and i go with him most times. although it is small this can be an advantaage in woods and in the tight stuff.
  9. That BASC magazine isnt the one that calls for a squirrel cull on the next page is it???
  10. Those little bunnies are the best eaters and remember they are vermin, in fact at this time id rather shoot young rabbits as then you know you arent leaving kit with no mum. Anyway, nice shot, always good when you pull off a shot like that.
  11. I live on in kent but sometimes find myself brave enough to venture in to south east london and its becoming somewhat infamous with guns, so i'll go ask those in woolwhich, they seem to shoot enough of eachother.
  12. What is that grey box on the front end??
  13. I've trod on a bumble bees nest when felling trees, im so glad i wasnt all harnesed up there, being on the ground you can ditch the chainsaw and run like heck. and thats bumble bees not as many of them in nest as honey bees

  15. hi sterry what are your forearms like? { easy buster } just that it is a bit on the heavy side buddy.but good chioce of rifle regards davy Weight not too bad as long as i have a sling and bipod so i dont have to use my tired arm. i have used one but only in .22 . years of slave labour on farms lumpin sack of feed and straw bales does wonders for the guns .lol.
  16. Im looking to have ago at snaring some rabbits and i want to make them (i think its important to know how), but i only want a few max of about a dozen, im going buy some tealers off trapworks (who i beleive is a member on here...), but the only spools i can find are massive and big, way more than i need/afford. So does anyone know of a small spool of snare wire even to make a few snares. Also any info on break aways and what not would be much apprieciated. im very very new to this area (i've read the snaring tips on here) but other than that only checked them and reset them when i

  18. i get the feelling these gys should just put in for the proper rifle
  19. All i could see it doing is giving the dog the sh**ts and making the dog feel rather under the weather.
  20. Thats what i find myself doing, leaving it on x6, and it seems bit pointless when i could use a fixed, also with a mil dot as you zoom in and out the mil dots change so i'd rather get used just one mag level
  21. Im not sure about accuracy, but my uncle had a friend who owned an auto mag i think it is...looks a beast in the pictures i've seen. im told that that was the gun/calibre (not sure what im afraid) combo for pistol hunting "hogs" in america
  22. Oi dont take the p**s out of my car. You forget it has 1043cc of pure power. lol. but really its a peice of crap but its a free car. i say its crap because we got over tacken by a lorry goin up the devon express way. embarresing.

  24. In my opinion, there is no excuse for poaching. anyone i see on my permission either lost or otherwise i approach, those who are genuinly lost i dont mind too much, although very annoying. but those who poach is another mater, i had one guy driving around a wheat feild with his dogs running around, and when i approached him he became very aggressive, partly due i was about to shoot his dogs as they were running at me and my dog about to latch on. the only way to stop it is either treat the problem as you would anyother vermin control, but as the law doesnt share our same veiw, maybe invest
