  1. Only experience will tell. I recently have lost confidence in my air rifle, a half grown rabbit from standing shot about 20yrds, agreed my marksman ship was slightly out, instead of the gap between the eye and the ear (where i usually shoot them it i dont get a chance for a back of the head shot) the pellet struck just above the eye (was so close was touching) the rabbit dropped i looked up from my scope to mark where it was. with that the thing scrambled away. found him in a run just sitting there, poor lil bugger, mad me feel like crap knowing i did that. needless to say i put him out of his
  2. Finally they got the power back on (since monday we've had power for 3 hours) and obviously all the freezers were down, such a waste, had to bin loads of rabbits and duck and everything that was in there, real shame. managed to give quite a few pigeons away to some falconers i know. Any one else experience powercuts in south east???
  3. Yup should be a good show, im going saturday with the whole revelry. got no money mind but few things i need to get
  4. I would say get yourself beating, you'll meet lots of people who all shoot and hunt. if you can tag along with one of them just to learn the ropes then continue to offer your hand to the odd job any farmer has all goes to helping your cause
  5. I tend to use 5s for everything, work brilliantly on everything from ducks to woodcock to pigeon. that said recently i have been using gamebore clear pigeon no 6 (very good cartridge, very recommended) i wouldnt use 7, just tooo light for my liking, stick to 5 and 6 you wont go wreong
  6. THATS WHAT I THOUGHT! my frikkin gun dealer just pushed the buck on to someone else...it was a bloomin drama getting it from them in the first place. I'll send the letter off tomorrow recorded as you say, and go in to the gun dealer all guns blazing (excuse the pun) ......What happened to service????
  7. As the title suggests i have brought a new shotgun, and i have written a bit saying what the gun is, my license number and other personal information, but do i also need to send off the second sheet of my SGC (the table thing), or do i do this, and just send the police the confirmation of my gun?????? THANKS FOR ANY REPLIES. Joe.

  9. GET THE FLY ROD OUT! you wont want to do anything else once you get one off the top with a dryfly, i gauretee.
  10. Just an update to the situation, i have been invited to an open day and they seemed to be quite impressed that i was sorting things out early rather than later. I have got myself some work experience working on a large mixed farm down in Devon (im here in kent/greater london) which im doing in the summer holiday, and hopefully in the wor placement my school does in y13. And by god patchwork...you werent half right, my back up plan is now not quite so much of a back up plan...not helped by the RAF being completely unintrested in me as i dont have the qualification but have well over the re
  11. I would try my local gunshop, but it seems that he only caters for those crocadile dundees amongst us. I think im going to get the brusetto fandsmann trapper. they look really nice knives, not to ostentaious either. cheers, when i get it i'll put a mini reveiw up on my findings. Cheers all,
  12. So does anyone have an idea of a decent knife that fit the bill??
  13. Im not saying that at all........i purley and simply want to try one. no other reason. just....want to try one.
  14. well, i dont like the really short blades but 3-5 inch blade would be fine, im just after something a bit different, no particular rreason, opinels are great knives but i wanna try a fixed blade knife.
  15. well i did really want a wooden handle, not keen on plastic,
  16. Im not sure if this is the right section. Im after a new hunting knife, my old opinel no.8 has seen its days pass unfortunatly, what im lookin for is a fixed blade knife with a wooden handle, blade around 4" or 5" blade and preferable with a sheath. Im dont really want to spend mega bucks but proberly around the £60 mark, but obviously bit of change wouldnt go a miss. does anyone know of any knives that are decent and are what im after, any responce will be greatly recieved.
  17. Well all im saying is that a single strand of grass can change the path of the pellet let alone a series of foam baffles.
  18. The round only contacts the foam wipe, It's the final part of the silencing process. There are many technical publications on the subject which mention these. How do these "wipes" affect accuracy, surely to only contact you wan is in the barrel, anything else would affect the spin on the pellet or distaught its shape.
  19. Well i effective range of a shotgun is dependant on shot size, choke, and quarry. i rat at 15yrds with a .410 will no doubt go down with no7 shot, where as a rabbit, well. no7 i would think it you run off. the range of a .410 imo is further than 15yrds with no,5 or 4. 6 0r smaller i would agree with you.
  20. Done the same thing but ratting, and used a can with both ends cut out, pop a smoke pellet (plumers ones) down the hole with a stick and when they run in the tight grab the end swing it round slam it on the floor or wall. then reset, had a few like that. good work
  21. Yeah lol, i liked that bit, took it as some what of a complament lol,
  22. Thats exactly the same reason as myself, we're both in the same predicament here. lol. I think its such a shame that this calibre has such limited ammunition range, as with correct shot size/choke this lil gun can be used with great effectivness (when i was little uncles friend, who took me round the shoots, killed a goose with one) on rabbits, having a mooch this gun weighs nothing thought these might intrest you compo. http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/ammo/1372...cartridges.html http://www.fourten.org.uk/cart.html
  23. Couldnt agree more. Its the lowest of the low when someone does that to a dog, they give their all for their owner and this is how it is repayed.... I hope this isnt the case i really do, Not sure if it help but the noses are different colours and i cant see the dew claws on the original picture, they might be due to bad picture but worth a thought.
  24. I think im going to have to have a trip down to west malling guns or whatever its called these days, do fiochi make them in no.5??? glad to see everythings cleared up now spiderpig.
  25. LOL got to love threads when its all friendly banter. If your after a bed then tuffies are fantastic (kicked the dog off before after having a few too many and the stairs look too much efort) very comfortable lol, but if you after like bedding (like shredded paper) im sure they do horse bedding made from rubber chunks.
