  1. Aww, bless you, Simon Have you been drinking or have the meds kicked in?? I've not had chance to start on your 97 yet as I've been stuck without a car for the past two weeks and I've only just got mobile again so I should be able to get cracking on it this weekend. Give me a shout Sunday evening, I'll give you the run down then Cheers, mate.
  2. I've had dealings with Wurz before and he's a proper gent. Looking forward to meeting up properly one day
  3. 25 from a TX??? No way unless it's dieseling it's sack off.
  4. You'll never get an honest review from a magazine, they're too frightened of losing advertising revenue if they piss someone off by telling the truth about how utterly shite some of their products are. As for hunting articles, I'd agree with the above comments about Airgun Shooter from what I've seen.
  5. I know exactly what you're saying, Miles, and to be fair I shouldn't really comment as I've had very little to do with QBs and I've never used a modded one. The car analogy's spot on for me. If you want a better car, get a better car instead of dicking around with something you're not really happy with.
  6. I'll never understand some people's need to polish turds. Why spend loads of money and time on something that's only ever going to be average at best? I'm not having a go at anyone, it's just my opinion.
  7. I've tried those, they're now sold as Benjamin Air Bullets and they're hopeless in my HW90. Some are tight as feck in the barrel and others nearly fall straight through. Very badly made.
  8. Brake or carb cleaning spray's a good way to go. Just make sure it's properly dried out though before re-assembly.
  9. If you can go the extra, give Sandwell Fieldsports a shout and get their spec spring with a matching guide. Top quality kit and it'll smooth things out a bit. Not essential but better than standard. Don't be tempted to fit an OX or similar, it'll ruin it. Other parts depend on what you find once it's in bits. If the breach or piston seal look at all damaged then replace them too. It's unlikely it'll need anything else so long as all's otherwise well. A light coating of molly grease on the spring and guide and if you can get some, a light smear of pure silicon grease on the piston seal.
  10. Personally I'd go for the 6x42. It's a really good all round spec, IMO. Also less to break. I've known a good few Hawke scopes to have problems on springers so the less to go wrong is a bonus. Decent enough quality optics for the money but they're not as robust as they might be.
  11. http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/riflescopes-leapers/leapers2732-leapers-2-7x32-red--green-illuminated-mil-dot-riflescope.html Have a look at this. I've had one for a few years now and it's taken a lot of grief from a lot of guns without a problem. Cheap as chips and as tough as you like.
  12. Scopes are a very personal choice. I like a nice simple 30-30 ret without all the knobs and whistles but that's just me As for pellets, both of my 52's have been quite fussy ammo wise. My old one in .22 only shot properly with Crosman Premiers and the one I have now in .177 favours JSB Exacts. You'll just have to find this one out for yourself, mate. Sometimes even two seemingly identical guns will shoot differently with the same ammo.
  13. How so are different muscles used to carry a rifle than the ones in your arms that you need to shoot the thing with? We all have different levels of fitness and strength and endurance. Some folks will struggle to carry ten pounds of kit free hand for a hundred yards while some of us could carry it all day and night. I use a properly fitted sling on all of my guns, always have and I am also lucky enough to be able to carry my kit around all day long without if I needed to but I don't see why I should need to stress my body any more than necessary before taking the shot. I'm not hav
  14. £40??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! :icon_eek: f**k me, you've done well there, mate. Look after it and it'll last you a lifetime.
  15. I have one in .177. It's over thirty years old and looks like it's been used as a gate prop for most of it's life before I got it four years ago. It shoots beautifully, as accurate as I could ever want and for a springer, very little recoil when in normal sub 12 format. It's the second one I've had and It's not a gun I'll ever part with. I paid £150 for mine which considering the state it was in was probably a bit too much but they don't come up too often and tend to hold a premium. Those that have them tend to keep them. The only down side (for some...) is that they are on the weighty
  16. Ahh yes , young Andy when you get over the age of 16 you will hopefully find you have grown a pair! and your voice will break! and you will find Girls are more atractive than your X BOX! Erm..... I'm 44. My voice broke long ago, my 'pair' are well and truly grown and girls stopped being attractive when I discovered women.
  17. I'm not really in to long speachs and monologs so I'll sum up my feelings with a nice simple bollocks.....
  18. I'm not a f*****g grumpy 44 year old and anyone who says I am will get a right f*****g ear full!!!! Count me in
  19. If you had two identical combo's in the different calibers and shot them one after the other, unless you're very sensitive, you'd be hard pushed to tell them apart. Yes, .177 does need a tad more air pressure behind it to match .22 but not that much.
  20. PM me your address, Craig. I'll send you some FTTs, Baracudas, Loguns, Benjamins, Daystates and some Dynamics.
  21. They're a total waste of time on an airgun. As above, just do it the old fashioned way. They're really only meant to be used as a rough guide for full bore shooters wanting to save a bit on ammo.
  22. My 14 year old boy can manage the weight of a TX all day long and he's no giant, not by a long way. Unless the gun's giving you problems then just give it some time to get used to the weight before chopping and changing Best of luck however you choose.
