  1. she's prety nigfty with that glass, I'd have tried a chest shot - see how quick she really is
  2. Be very happy of that and no it doesn't mean anything of the sort.
  3. If it is a one off and both animals are healthy then almost certainly you'll have no problems. But unless you know enough about genetics and the heredity diseases of dogs stop there. To say that you are going to double up on good and bad traits is not strictly true. All dogs have the POTENTIAL to cary recessive genes for some pretty nasty things. Now related individuals are MORE likely to be carrying the same recessive gene than unrelated genes. Mating those two together increases the probability of a puppy being born with two copies of a recessive gene for a genetic disease. There
  4. As had been said feathering is a recessive trait when compared to the smooth coat. I doubt however that it is as simple as a single loci gene (ie one pair or two genes) I suspect it is a slightly cumulative trait. This is because you can and do get degrees of feathering. To be honest know one really knows the exact properties of the gene. Colouration is the one that has the most information about. There are a number of breeds of dog that do/can exhibit feathering. Salukis as you've already got; also, collies, setters, pointers etc If you had the time and resources you could breed
  5. Get some wings off a dead bird, dry them out and stitch/tie them to a dummy. You'll puppy will soon be snapping up feather. DON'T forget that your puppy is still VERYVERYVERY young. My dog didn't touch feather until he was 18 months old, now he will take it at every opportunity.
  6. She is still VERY young, collie blood needs TIME, she needs more time to musle up and more , much more experience. Keep at it and let us know what she is like in a year, you'll have a cracker

  8. Husky's have a very efficient stride and style for steady pace. Sprinting over and over is different requirement and they don't cut the mustard. Coat is thick but our winters aren't the artic. sorry if this isn't very positive.
  9. Surprised at this and also surprised that no one else has picked up on it. I think it is not the 'most' that farmers worry about it is the minority of useless fecking idiots . How does a farmer tell the difference if someone just approaches out of blue and asks??? Better safe than sorry. If the majority of us really put our minds to it we'd start a union of hunters that vetted and monitered it members so that a land owners would know that if they allowed one of the union on their land all would be well. But that ain't ever going to happen
  10. Farmers get INUNDATED with requests. Dogs generally cause problems to farmers, trained ones are in the minority. Plus most people treat the land and owners like shit. You need to prove yourself. Take your time, never approach with a dog. Start off with less and go for more. It has taken me four years to get the dog on some of my permission, worth it though.
  11. cheaper to get shot of hens and buy a few organic eggs. airgun and persistence they WILL get the message
  12. LOL, been some good reading here. This thread sums up THL very well. First off ya man cúagusgiorraí has posted NUMEROUS Posts over time on various running dogs. Any member with an intellectual capacity beyond that of a goldfish would have known that. Or do people just read posts and forget them by the morning. Secondly, anyone that has gotten beyond 30 miles of their mothers apron strings would realise that tthat picture was never taken in the UK. I got the wrong continent. Fair enough most people will not have travelled and seen working dogs in different countries. But differin

    WORLD HUNTERS

I think the band wagon has really got going here. I think WH has jumped fully into the running dog world, he has only had them a short while BUT he has done a fecking good job on bring Storm on [i wont call him Sir]. He posts and photography are good. He has added a lot to the forum. I'm guessing that he may have taken a bit too much on. He's a young lad and we all make mistakes I think kicking him off the site is pretty harsh. I do think he could have handled this nets thing a bit better but feck me, I am yet to meet someone who deosn't make mistakes. As peddling dogs I dont th
