  2. Go for a type that you like the look of and that you can get on with, some people just dont gel with collie crosses and some folks are the same with saluki types. Aim for something that is going to be 22 - 23 inches at the shoulder and the same in kilos. A good coat would be an asset and make sure you look for good feet, dont matter how great your dog is if it is always lame. Get a pup at 6 weeks old then puttime in training it, training it. Show it ferreting at an early age but have no expectations for the first season. Get it used to purse nets and long nets, let it figure it all out
  3. I almost certainlly looking to sell my 20 month old Daystate MK4-s with Airstream reflex MK-IV silencer, two 10-shot mags etc etc The gun is in immaculate condition and it is in .20 calibre. Where would be the best place to sell it? I've been looking at guntrader is it any good? Has anyone sold guns through there before? Cheers
  4. Thank you :clapper: It is great to see some new pics, especially of Llan.
  5. ferreting wont ruin a lamping dog. That dog of yours with the Kelpie in it will love the stimulation that ferreting will provide.
  6. Great post fella, wish there were more posts of this quality. Get yourself some spun poly or spun nylon nets, 4ft with good quality pegs on them. Avoid 4x or 6z nylon, you'll only end up leaving them behind when you get some better nets. A couple of thick socks over the water bottle will help, get a spare bottle and keep it indoors so you swap em and let one defrost whilst the other is out with the hobs Dont worry about only working one hob, when you have saved enough for a second collar then let him work. Some places you will need two ferrets, else the bunnies just give a si
  7. Shame you didnt bring on your other lurchers or the staffie as marking dog. Any dog will learn to mark. Then you have a dog you can take ferreting. If you do a lot of ferreting then consider a ferreting dog.
  8. There are a few strains of linebred collies out there. Most people keep quiet about them because invariably they get hassle for having them. They are generally mooching pot-fillers.
  9. SLiders work well if there is no cover to catch sliders. rings are generally a better allround bet. I have both but pick and chose where I use sliders.
  10. I use something like this, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CARP-BARBEL-CARRYALL-FISHING-TACKLE-BAG-OLIVE-GREEN_W0QQitemZ390254011945QQcategoryZ117100QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D15%26pmod%3D270651206414%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4788506350958689019 I like the holdall design, I can leave top open and place by holes and grab nets with ease and also handy for picking up nets. Gets flask and all sorts in.
  11. Enjoyed that one and nice pics. Useful looking cur you have that.
  12. Dog thieves are the worst scum out there. Though if people stopped buying grown dogs from sources they dont know 100% it would help.
  13. dog thieves are pure scum Good luck getting your bitch back.
  14. Are we talking about a ferreting dog or a dog taken ferreting? Haven't seen many of the former but plenty of the later.
  15. I've only ever heard good things about his dogs.
  16. Very nice rod that someone is going to get a great buy there.
  17. The Plummer line of lurchers is still going, there are very few about and litters are pretty rare, mostly people just say they are a collie cross, and reading the previous posts it is not hard to understand why.
  18. Sounds like a fecking dog thief to me. Certainly as dodgy as f$ck
  19. Any more information there on the bitch? Location too
  20. If he is isn't actually saying that it is what he's thinking
  21. Walk you lazy sod. Plus if you aint where you are supposed to be no one will know and more over you wont PI$$ the landowner off and RUIN it for the rest of US.
  22. First off a lurcher is the only serious choice, terriers will mark but after that they offer little. A ferreting dog needs to be able to concentrate for an ages when not much is happening. Great ferreting dogs do not happen over night they need lots of experience and are worth their weight in gold. Most will catch any rabbits that miss nets within a few feet so dont ned to be massively fast just quick witted. They need a good coat to protect from vbrambles hedges etc etc, unfortunately that rules out anything with a lot of whippet in it. yes a lot of people use whippets for ferreting.
  23. The age depends a lot on the cross and the individual dog. Also depends what you are asking of her and how much. Personally until a dog is 15 months is old I wouldn't ask too much of it. For now take her ferreting, it will sharpen her up, she'll get used to seeing rabbits caught. If you can get her out lamping then pick her uns for her, don't let her chase everything you see. Try and get a sitter right out from cover. Walk up tp it. Don't let her run up to it, often a sitter will just sit tight until the dog is up on it then wrong foot it and get enough of a gap to make cover - especiall
  24. Ignore 10z, not really what you are after. Go for some spun poly. Get in touch with DDtimberproducts or the Net Loft, They will sort you out and get everything in the post to you.
