  1. BE interesting one to follow. Be nice to know more of the facts surrounding it. Fingers crossed for us all
  2. ma whippet x took all her rabbits and hares like that tumble tumble and never injured her self. Then you are the owner of one very lucky dog. ME, give me no fuss and nonsense pick-ups every time.
  3. Good luck and happy hunting :clapping:
  4. NAME AND SHAME DOG thieves are scum and deserve a lot of fecking pain
  5. Unfortunately we will never be shot of mixy and likewise it will never ever decimated the rabbit populations like it did when it first hit the bunny population here. Basically mixy and the humble bunny are now playing a game of cat and mouse. Rabbits get hi by a strain of mixy and then they get immune to it and their numbers increase. Sooner or later the mixy mutates or another strain comes in and hits the rabbits again. It isn't in mixys best interest to kill a bunny. if the bunny dies then bang goes part of the journey for mixy. If you were being quite rational about thing
  6. Just heard on Radio this morning that vets are reporting record numbers of Pet rabbits with mixy. They are saying it is down to the unseasonal weather conditions. Are we seeing more than normal out there in the wild bunnies?
  7. Dry food then anything that is meat based and has no daft colourants. Protein wise anything over 20% is good. look at your dog you will see how it is doing, The amount of work (thus calories burnt) is vital as to the animals needs.
  8. nope nice thread, lots of variable out there. Probably why them lamping competitions never got off the ground. Problem being biggest variable out there - the owners! Out lamping the dog is only going to run what you slip it on. Choosing the right slips will only boost averages. But like they say be happy with what you got and enjoy those windy nights when you own the god-damned countryside (if only we did).
  9. yeah for sure, thought about adding it but don't think anyone woul;d get a lurcher just for feathered game alone. It is just a very welcome addition to the bag.
  10. I would approve steps to ensure that only genuine people use these forums.
  11. There really are a lot of variables. I take it we are onlyy taking runs/slips that we are pretty sure the dogs gonna get.
  12. Cracking looking dog and seems to be doing the business. Look forward to a report from the ferreting trip. Your biggest problem is going to be dealing with all the invites
  13. Please me honest about your expectations from your dogs. There have been some interesting and heated threads as to the nature of our dogs etc. I am interested and hopefully others are aswell to see if many of us have specialist dogs or if we expect them to be jack of all trades. This may flat on its face with everyone expecting everything from their dog. There is no choice for daytime mouching as well in my opinion that is pretty much a given, I'm not sure any of us would be upset if excersing our dogs in daylight they brought back game (Mind you people being people someo

    on now

Watched some of it then got fecked off. Your man there has a long history of jobs in the media. He knows exactly what he wants to portray. It was all WAY to contrived for me. Now Benedict Alllen is a diffrent kettle of fish. What was interesting was the dogs they had there in the camp and on the hunt.
  15. dog thieves are pure SCUM May they have slow painful deaths
  16. Totally It is why we have different people excelling at differing tracke events. Carl lewis has probably been the greatest track sprinter of our generation (well mine - some of yous lot may need to ask your parents). Any way he was an out and out sprinter, also long jumper. there is no way in heaven or hell that he would hve stood a chance against Haile Gebrselassie over anything above 400 m. Look at the build of the two atheletes....they are not built the same. Just the same as a salukiand a greyhound AREN't built the same. Trouble is lurcher work tends to be a bity of a h
  17. that is no argument (no offence meant). pure collie isn't bred to hunt a pure saluki is that is a no brainer. If it was that simple this thread wouldn't exist.
  18. the fens are criss-crossed with ditches and dykes, get yourself out to the big arable lands. fields of 100+ acres are common and those long ears take some running.
  19. I haven't got it to hand but i think in this months edrd he is advertising that he has three types of 'lurcher', maybe i have it from the web. anyway, how he has done this feat when no one else has yet to bred a recognised true-breeding strain/type of lurcher. God knows how many fogs he must have in order to keep all thing pure to type and ongoing. Is the man other a living, walking talking genius or a living walking talking fraud?
  20. Well when we are choosing our puppy, we have no guarantee that it will be a worker - we are just going on the basis of breeding and our ability to train the puppy. Also we have no idea what it will really end up looking like but even so we will tend to pick (given choice) a puppy that we like the look of. Granted this is probably mostly on colour, not shape. That and obviously puppy personality. Hell I am drifting from the point. Why not pic a pup we like the look of, after all we are gonna be looking at the dog everyday for the dozen years or so.
  21. "the tumbler, by virtue of its shoulder construction throwing itsefl at the prey and doing several rolls, or tumbles before coming up with rabbit in mouth." To me that sounds like the sort of dog that is gonna be visiting the vets more often than not. Sounds like a dog for the camera. Boring old me just wants a dog that will catch with minimum of fuss and show. DULL DULL DULL
  22. All the best,...CHALKWARREN.... Brilliant that dog, catch rabbits all winter then come the warmer weather has enough wool for a big old jumper.
  23. worker worker worker worker worker worker In my eyes there is nothing so beautiful as a efficient working dog. (well almost nothing ... )
