Ahhh yep that is a fair point Maty. There are enough fields roundabout that I will lamp/airgun whislt I am waiting. Also the Undergrowth round the Park n ride is that thick that almost no one will get through it (I have, naturally found a way through - would have been rude not to at least have a look. Problem is they have CCTV there ). The houses although all over looking the fields are unliely to investigate what I am doing. To them probably look like some chap fencing late. Or they just won't see. As opposed to hearing shots or seeing a bl00dy bright beam sweeping round the back

Probably best to start this way round. I have permission over a few fields which are border a park and ride scheme, by dint of which they are also overlooked by houses. Now I can't really shoot or lamp in these fields, they are pretty small and overlooked by nice suburban houses. I am a novice when it comes to long netting but I have been watching these fields andcan't see how it would be possible to set a long net down the hedgerow without spooking all the bunnies (the fields are always semi-lit by the car park). I would like to get hold of some drop nets so that i can set them an

Nice read, sounds like an enjoyable day out. Maybe leave the phone in the car though

No breeder of any stock, be pedigree Angus cattle or Silkies has ever bred brilliant stock all of the time. There will always be variation, accept it. With Hancock's dogs you know what to expect. But if you can get a pup from a working line then it increases your chances of getting a goodun. all the best

Thats my pup here [bANNED TEXT]. that is a tidy looking pup you got yourself there.

Good luck to you, dog thiefs are a blight on us all, the are absolute scum and don't deserve the air they breathe. If they can have so little thought about the distress they are causing dogs and owners alike, then they deserve to be treated likewise. If you have the name and details of any dog thiefs then people should post a thread saying so, no personal details, just the area then peoople can PM for details. If they have been convicted then it might be easier. How to the mods feel on this. We have a valuable resopurce in the form of this and other forums, we have a nationwide

Looking at parents isn't always the best indication, my little monsters parents were 22 inches and at 8months he has hit 25.5 at the shoulder Yours shouldn't grow much more, if you look at him you will probably be able to see that he just needs to level out with his hind quarters. Put some pics up, love to see collie crossses. All the best with the pup, happy hunting. S

Good luck, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. There are windy, cloudy nights that need to be hunted. s

All good sound advice. I would ad don't expect too much too soon. and forget what you read on here in terms of dogs doing xyz at 4 months. Go at it slowly, you have that dog for years so don't worry. Good luck to you and hope to see pics and read updates on here as you go along.

He started off by saying he was selling it because he had got an older one that was already working, This 'changes in personal circumstances' has been added on at a later date. I am more than willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt . What personal circumstances means he has to get rid of a sapling in favour of a dog that has started working? Maybe his missus didn't like its colour ?
-
Why the hell did yo get him in the first place ? You should get out of the game completely :stupid: . That dog looks decent and will pledge his life to you and your just moving him on because you can't be arsed. I I hope karma gives you back what you deserve

If the litter has already been bred then any problems will have been obvious in the first few weeks.

If merle is mated to merle then there is the distinct probability that you will have puppies that are blind and or deaf. Merles on their own are no more prone to it then any other cross, they are just more likely to be carrying the recessive form which is why mating two together can be asking for trouble.

CW, not meaning to pry but On a personal note,...I've possibly made the 'Mother of ALL feck-ups' with my latest young lurcher has def raised my curiousity, any chance that you will tell more? All the best. S

Brilliant advice from skycat. Practice recall more, and don't let the dog associate recall with home time. One thing you could try, although you might be better enrolling in some dog training before attempting it, is the following. Dogs are pack animals, you are (or should be) the most important person in your dogs pack. Your the top dog, there is no doubt she is testing the boundaries and pushing buttons to see how you react. One thing to try is when you are out walking is to exclude her from your pack. Each time she comes near to you growl at her and chase her out of your 'spa

well it looks pretty distressed now. Could be an odd shot took slow toll, though doesn't look like it had lost a lot of condition. Otherwise, caught, broken neck and dumped.

No reason for it not to, depends which out of the mix it favours and how it is brought on
-
They don't, the fens are huge and pretty desolate at times. Though depends where you go. It is huge salad and veggie growing area of country and those boys REALLy don't like hares so shoot em where they can. But if there is one thing they like less than a hare munching on young icebergs, it is a dog coursing across the maicured fields. So you have to pick your spots. Oh the fens is also a massive turf producing part of the world, so some of your courses will be on what are basically manicured lawns, which is a bit surreal - unless of course you have a f****n huge garden.
-
The fens just has fair it of hype up about it. As regards location Head out to south lincs and North Cambs and as soon as you get bored of the scenary you are in the fens. Flat as a pancake only less interesting. The whole place is criss-crossed with dykes. Fen hares are no better than others. The ditches and smallish fields mean you don't get the smae courses as with trhe big firlds of other parts. But then with the fens being f*****g flat you get to see it all. Unless the fen blow is on then all you see is a pissing black cloud. Parts of the fens are pretty remote and so police

Sorry to hear about your loss. All the best for the future

Glad you got your dog back, that is a heart ripping moment when you realise that your dog is gone. Glad to hear you go an alarm system fitted up now. Like ditch says they are vaulable things but you can't always be having them in the house. Only so much room in a house. Anopther good point on this thread is that don't over do the PR for your dog. No point advertising that you have a little gem there. No matter how pleased and proud you are, because out there are folks who have no respect for anything and will take rather than put the effort in. If you can find out who it i

I have two young ferrets from two different breeders. both of which are out of this years litters one at start of season and the other is only about 11 weeks old now. They have settled in to their hutch but one of the little fuzzballs refuses to use a latrine corner. One just uses it like she was born to the other little madam will use it then just as easily start in another corner. It is frustrating and i trying to suss out means to stop them. I use a massive triangle litter tray with a back to it. I've tried shavings, soil and now cat litter which seems the best but just as
