  1. WB Gutted to hear about your dog , you only just got started with it too. Did you get out the other night with it? If so how did it go? At least the dog will be up and at em bunnies in time. Def report it to the police, providing of course you can have an A to B route that is nice and clean  . I know it is tempting but, let it lie - what goes around comes around and if you aint looking to get permission much then you really don't want to be ruffling anyones feathers. Let the police deal with it. Also this website is a PUBLIC forum so would people ple
  2. harvest is no respector of weekends. I will try get hold of my mate and see if he will take one. I don't think you will have any bother finding homes for them. Glad to hear you are letting her keep them
  3. Golf courses, so long as you don't mess up the greens they won't bother coming after you, groundsmen usually live off site and the courses have plenty of cover...... WB wait until harvest is over before writing any farmers, they don't really have time for anything but getting crops cut.
  4. God they are stunnning pups, wish i had room to take on another pup.
  5. WB definitely endeavour to get some permission, get an adult to go with you and leave the dog behind. Even offer to help out on farms for nowt chucking bales or whatever in return for permission. Try calling in any favours, friends of friends that sort of thing - it is often not what but who you know. If you don't have nay permission then farmers will soon wanna know where the F you are running that new dog of yours. Farming is a small community and they all talk, get caught and you will never get any permission locally. Go out and go where you want but have some actual permiss
  6. I've seen a couple of litters like that in c/w over past few weeks. I know someone who is looking for a bitch bred like taht but I'm sorry to say that they won't travel, which is annoying. One of the guys i spoke to who had a litter and bred them intentionally for bushing dogs and was keeping back pick of litter for himself. I would say that enopugh people on here are interested then keep em.
  7. Nah keep them, they could well make useful dogs. They will be racey enough to do the business and the terrier will give em plenty of pluck. Where you at?
  8. well done got the problem fox good work
  9. We had 18mm of rain yesterday and the ground is still like damned concrete, dogs excercising but called off anything fast that gets up.

  13. Its thoughtless comments like this that give a site a bad name
  14. WHAT exactly do you want to know ? Border Collies,..came via Dartmoor,..er,...just Border Collies,.not much else to say,... Should really been a bit clearer , just wondered if there is anyone out there breeding lurchers from that particular type of collie. I know Hancock tried the type out but hasn't kept up with it. I remember seeing a couple of smart dogs that were dartmoor crosses that had very yellow eyes that made them quite distinctive. cheers
  15. Anyone know anything???? :search:
  16. Smart looking pups, what's the breeding or have i missed that?
  17. 36C round our way Fields is getting cleared and cleared quick, no where to hide now brer rabbit and your friends, or you Mr Fox
  18. Horses for courses Collie cross for most lurcher work if i wanted out and out running dog like in the old days  would go DeerhoundxGreyhound or maybe 3/4 greyhound 1/4 saluki
  19. I like the look of those dogs, good combination Plus nice smart kennels, good to see kennels like it
  20. Try a 3/4 Greyhound 1/4 collie bitch easier to train than a straight half cross, esp if you are new to the game. good luck and keep us all posted
  21. Ridgebacks really aren't used much for hunting nowadays in africa, they are kept for protection, or a similar breed is. Ridgebacks are not a sighthound, they are related to the mastiff. They sure as hell fon't have collie or airedale in their breeding. I may be wrong but you will have to come up with some hard evidence to prove it. Fast..... yeah for a big dog heavy dog they are fairly mobile. They are not and have never been bred for speed, courage, loyalty and some brains yes. A first cross with a greyhound would certainly still be too clumbersome and a 3/4 bred - why bother
  22. It might just be worth running by a lawyer of your own or call the Citizens advice Bureau. As far as I am aware he can only shoot your dog if he has absolute proof they are causing harm to his livestock. Chasing them may well be enough. If he does shoot your dog he will need to inform the police that he has shot your dog. if he doesn't then I believe that that initself is an offence. If he does shoot your dog and has no evidence that it was worrying his stock then he can be prosecuted and will almost certainly lose his gun licence. Unlike cats dogs carry a lot more weigh
  23. For sure at six months she is still a puppy, give her time, she has lots of promise and will grow into the game. Good luck and keep us posted
