  1. Lots of discusions lately taking place about taking Hares with Air Rifle's which seems a bit of a gray area. it would be interesting in this poll to see quite how many of us as responsible shooters knowing our capabilites would take one on? either Calibre includeing the not so popular calibres. It was correctly pointed out in a previouse Hare post by Inan the BASC's Air Rifle quarry recommendation! It seems Hare is not on their list. It will be interesting to see how the poll turns out and if the BASC's recommendations are justified in the eyes of fellow Hunters. Jasp
  2. spot on pal . just seen a vid on the stuff and ordered some off Ebay......
  3. did it hold RC? I banged a patch on from the kids repair outfit! sanded it down a bit first but couldn't get it to grab strong enough, mind you the split is in a awkward spot on the crease of the toe...
  4. Marlboro colours Vespa Aarron! very nice pal . I know a few lads back then who would have been very enviouse includeing myself.. I was 21 back then! missed my old white PX150 and still loved the scooters and also went through a couple of DT175 Trail bikes but by 86 was blasting about in a 2.0S Capri! Must admit I had some fun in the Capri but not the fanny Magnet the scooters was ... a couple of pictures of some lads from my way doing what scooter boys did back then
  5. cracking boots! had a pair of Tay Muck boots for around 3 years now. Only thing! there's a small crack apeared where they crease behind the toe, is there such a thing a welly repair kit or any other methods? Jasper

read a few articles in the past of a expected civil war in this country in perhaps the next 20-30 years or even sooner. basically the jist of it was we such a clash of cultures in this country is virtually like a time bomb ready to explode. we're supposed to be Multi cultured but just how long can this clash of beleifs/religion/hate Ect, go on? survival soon may be a reality for a large majority of us.........

Been picking up scraps of food for years now out oif bins and the landfill! Road kills don't go to waste either... Picked up a cracking pair Y Fronts hardly worn on the landfill the other day .....
  9. Lovely gun! I think back then they did a standard and a E with a bloody great 21 - 22" barrel. as I remember when they came into this country they was de-tuned to stay within the 12ft/lbs limit with some only managing around 10ft/lbs, all was very tuneable again... meant to say back in the 's a pal had one and stuck a PTFE washer in it from a guy T Robb, plus a bit of porting, it was soon singing out a 12ft/lbs again. the rekord trigger was amazing and was the rifle build quality. 10. Watched about 30 mins of it and that was enough. Bit different than how I remember 86! back then it was full of poncy Durran Durran and Spandel Ballet followers dressing like Fairies ... thought the main Mod/Skinhead movement was late 70.s/80's, by 86 there was a few die hard lads about but by then the trend changed to a load of poofders with flicks and ski jumpers...
  11. Probably both ideal for Hares within Range! then again so is a 12ft/lbs Rifle ....
  12. Very nice! its looks the Business Phil ... I quite fancied a MFR before I picked up the Ranger! I'm sure they knock out a fair few more shots than the Air Ranger... Jasp
  13. Cracking jacket pal! If it was me that would be my choice. I thought the same about the length of these fleeces but they also have a Draw string which is handy. had a few Le Chem windstopper fleeces which seemed pretty thick and padded! the Harkila is alot thinner but outguns the Le Chem all round .... It would be Harkila everytime for me AA.

    Cows

Must admit they seemed more aggressive when I had the dog with me LG when the Hawk took a Bunny in the field I never once mentioned I enjoy eating them and even tried talking to the fat heffers but they looked pretty arsey to me . a lad once told me they only come over because they're curiouse but f**k that! I'm sure by the way that start Barging about they mean business............
  15. Is this on offer at John Norris AA? picked my fleeces up from there Knocked down to £65 each....
  16. Can't say I have the Harkila high bird but my Harkila Fleeces are top notch! Can't fault them ...

    Cows

they scare the crap out of me LG. once had a heard chase me across a field when I was younger when I had our old Lab on the lead. had another time when a Goshawk took a Rabbit in a cow field! as soon as I hopped over the fence they started running across the field to us, the guy who was with us didn't care less about them and somehow moved them on but I was messing it... I think they're best carved up on a plate .... Jasp

    hares

good stuff sean! what calibre was you useing? you would expect a .22 to hold more energy at range than the .177, if someone done tests with both calibres it would be interesting? whatever the Calibre its still a loss of 7.5ft/lbs on the 10ft/lbs rifle. you would expect a massive loss on say a size 6 shot out to 45 - 50 yds. ok a Cartridge has the quantity to do the damage and leaves the barrel with a fair bit more ft/lbs but seen plenty of birds when plucked back litteraly stopped by a single shot perhaps in the neck or head. goes to show if I'm taking head shots within 35yds who needs 90

I remember reading a old book on shotgun marksmanship by Percy stanbury! don't quote me on this as it was a long time ago I read it but I'm sure he mentioned that game birds useing game loads only needed around 2ft/lbs in the swede to stop/kill them , perhaps someone else who has read the book can put me right! I'm sure I'm not far away as to what he quoted... Its interesting if you take the thickness of the skull of a Rabbit/Hare and consider what ft/lbs energy would be expected to kill them cleanly...... 21. always found it hard work getting Rabbits in any decent numbers when its pissing down with Rain. I like to get out and about whatever the weather! It might be just me but the weather certainly has a bearing on how productive I'm going to be..... Jasper

    hares

I have only ever shot two with Air Rifle's Andy! one a few days ago in .177 and one a few years back with a Webley Vulcan springer .22, both bit the dust pretty sharpish when hit in the swede . both guns running not far off the 12ft/lbs limit... atb Jasp
  23. Elmer given up on the Pesky Wabbits in favour of eating Hare . Just ate the back legs and saddle tonight! must say it was deliciouse. followed the recipe off another Hare post and some more info off the net ..... and didn't forget the Onion Jasper
