  1. Only Just seen this post Davey! cracking bit of info plus I look forward to seeing the vid to glean some info . I must admit I am a bit disapointed that the Air Ranger isn't Regulated . its big money for the gun so you would expect it to have all the mod cons. I removed the Harper valve from this gun a while back and polished it up useing some advice off the Daystate owners, must admit I should have gone the whole Hog though mate and did the rail aswel which was a bit rough but didn't get round to it. Its very very tempting to contact the Tench guy to see what he comes up with! then a
  2. Top man Darryl thankyou just sent you a pm. atb Jasp You're a star Buster . thats the sort of thing I am looking for so I can store all my bits and bobs in plus the rest will be handy, the other good thing is its my local gunshop .. cheers Jasp
  3. Very Nice ST! bet its a cracking light tool in the field Nowt wrong with lefty's mate ! I have always shot kack handed even when I had the old BSA Mercury's and Airsporters they all had righthands stock but could still be shot fine by the more superior lefthand shooters ... I used to get some real stick about shooting off the left shoulder but I have a left master eye which comes into its own when I pick the shotty up both eyes open ... atb Jasp
  4. Nice one Markha . do they do them the same diameter to fit a Air Ranger? the only reason I wanted to get the Airstream is because it slides a good 3 inch over the gun shroud and makes the gun look shorter more like a Bullpup... Jasp
  5. Nice one lads cheers sore is a understatment, it was made even worst having to fight the wife off all night in bed . gave the gun another check over a while back and couldn't beleive it was too painful to pull the bolt back! thankfully the wife has been trainned for all situations so she did it for me atb Jasp
  6. The wife has been looking on variouse Air Rifle websites in the hope of getting me a Airstream MK4 silencer for xmas. she then told me that none of them will deleiver and it needs sending to the nearest gun dealer . I knew this was the case with the guns but surely not with Silencers? I looked on my nearest dealers website <Uttings> and it seems they don't sell them anymore! if this is the case I'll have to wave bye bye to getting one unless another gunshop will send to Uttings . also any Recommendations on a decent Gunbox and stand, I was looking to hopefully get one thats all i
  7. fookin hell BBB I just nearly crippled myself again laughing! what a classic. just goes to show how the most silly of things can happen when out hunting, Must admit though mate I had one of them needles in the arse cheek before! it nearly put me though the ceiling. think if I had seen it happen I wouldn't have been able to help and probably would need some oxygen through laughing so much . atb Jasp
  8. Nice one BJ! cheers for the info mate . Yep he got away this time, I'll be more carefull in future and look at the ground more often, Can't see me running about anymore after squirrels Jasp thats one clever squirrel mate! I can imagine a few celebrations like that in the local Dreys. been up all bloody night with this! can't beleive how painful it is even after dosing myself up with Painkillers, no doubt about it laying down makes it worst. Its funny as the only thing I really worry about is my gun! It would do my head in if I damaged it. I think I was also pretty luc
  9. Looks painful Martin. Don't tell me you caught a squirrel and headbutted it to death what gets me is I know there is snares along the tracks yet I blanked out everything when the squirrel was on the move, one minute I was on the move and the next I was decked out on the floor! my Muckboot came off and was still wrapped in the snare while I ate dirt. I laugh now but it could have been nasty if a sharp stump or rock was sticking up where I was downed. Hope you're head gets better soon anyway mate atb Jasp Yes mate top marks to the under keeper for his Snare placement , it
  10. Nice one Wurz! I thought you would be busy mate, If not I'll bell you again in the evening shortly . seen some of that Jack Pyke stealth tape and it looks the business! the only problem I have is the forend of the stock sits pretty tight againt the bottom of the bottle! you could probably slide a cigerette paper through it, the only other option is to take a small amount of wood from the inside. Speak Soon Jasp Must admit Fry I am a bit of a La La mate when I'm injured . you're right though pal it hurts like hell, I can't lay at all and need propping up! I did my ribs in a few
  11. Nice one stoaty mate! the inner tube idea is a cracker, I'll be doing it asap . I have been out of it until about 30 mins ago, propped up on the settee Hammered with pain killers! sore as hell now so I think its about time the wife put the kettle on and got me a cup of tea, she'll have to carry me to bed and tuck me in afterwards too . atb Jasp Kyle thats another good idea mate . by the sounds of it I'll have to make sure all the air from the Bottle is completly empty before I remove it, I'll have to do somthing though mate as I hate to see the gun looking like this. chee
  12. Must admit the plus side of it is I'm being waited on hand and foot! I'll have to call her in again soon as I can't reach the TV controls . Squirrels are leading 1 - 0 at the moment and probably now pinning a medal on the little shit that had the last laugh on me, I can see them now all having a good piss up in my local woods at my expense .. atb Jasp
  13. Spot on Davey . I'll take it off later and give it a try. I'm not sure about this Barrel, it slides into the action above the bottle and held in place by 4 x Grub screws <2 at the bottom and 2 at the top>, must admit if it had a band strapping the barrel to the end of the Bottle this would of helped for a support. hopfully all is well with the barrel and perhaps just the scope moved... cheers Jasp
  14. Thanks lads for the advice much apreciated I have broken ribs before but this is getting worse and worse, everything is now starting to seaze up and getting more painful, the missus thinks I'm swing the lead and being a La La . The squirrel probably sat their pi***ng himself when I went down, he'll have one hell of a laugh when he gets back to his drey with his mates. the funny thing is I was winded and in agony trying to shout but nothing was coming out, must of been Hilariouse looking down from a Squirrels point of view . hopefully I'll be able to just get away with a quick to
  15. Had a pretty nasty trip this morning while out with the Air Ranger. I managed to get onto a squirrel running through the canopy with me running underneath to keep up, unknown to me there was a snare set in the small path I was running! I hooked my foot in it and over I went . Have to say I have never had pain like it! I couldn't breath properly for a good few minutes and totaly winded and in agony, turns out I have fractured 3 ribs after a X Ray . My main worry now is my 400 Bottle. it now has a fair chip in the front edge out of the paintwork plus a couple of sctratches, the rest of
  16. Thats a lovely read Martin! it opitimises what Hare hawking is about. Only ever taken two Hares in my time and one was with someone else bird, this bird was "Belen" and belonged to a Austringer I got very friendly with in my area Bob Haddon! she was 18 at the time 1996 but still did the job like the pro she was. in May 1997 BFC mag Bob did a tribute to her including the other two people's accounts in the field who flew her, I must admit by the time she was 18 she lacked a bit in style but made up for it in experience! I feel Honoured to have been one of the people graced to fly her bef
  17. Thanks for the great advice again lads . seems like getting the valve sorted is the way to go . Pm sent Sean and T atb Jasp
  18. Can't speak for the standard Airsporters or Mercuy's ft/lbs but I know the "S" models was singing very close to the 12ft/lbs limit. had them both in the late 70's - 's and both had plenty of power and accuracy to get the job done. A pal had a standard Mercury in .177 knocking out BSA Pylarm pellets around 800'ish fps! I saw this gun account for many pigeons and squirrels in its time, as jenky said! shot placement is everything if you have enough power to do the job. Jasper
  19. Just sat and watched the vid with my lad Davey! what a cracking evenings sport mate My lad wants me to get out somtime with him down the grain stores on the farm to see if we can pop a few, hopefully it will give him some enthusiasm away from the xbox. are you using NV equipment Davey? atb Jasp
  20. thanks for the reply T! much apreciated mate I think thats what I will have to do from now on! topping the gun up past its "Sweetspot" is a total waste of air si I may aswel just top it to its sweetest spot. the only thing that bugs me is the gun from a full charge is capable of around 230 shots before the drop off! this was basically why I wanted a Air Ranger due to the large shot count and also its Ambi stock so my son can use it too. Out of Interest T! if say I had a Tweaky or Tench Reg fitted would this iron out the power curve and allow me to return to having the full amount of s
  21. I'm sure there is some top tech guys who can Hopefully answer this. My gun has a WP of 170BAR, when the gun is fully charged it returns a average of around 730-740FPS, as the gun drops down to 150BAR not only is there a power increase but the gun also seem more consistant and generaly hits a "Sweet Spot" at 150BAR, at this pressure the gun averages around 780FPS until the drop off and charging again. The funny thing is there is a fair shift is POI! ok there's not much of a drop but the gun also shoots slightly to the right, I end up compensateing for this until around 150BAR when the g
  22. Have to say Guys the Field Target Trophy's have been a revelation in this gun! I picked up 5 Tins beginning of the year somtime from Uttings and now on my last tin, I tried all sorts out of this gun but the grouping always seems better with the FTT's, not sure if its because they are slightly heavier but the gun loves them! having said that I have only shot 1 Pigeon in the last 3 weeks but thats down to me not getting out . Just out of interest are these new FTT's available in .177? I looked all over the net for some different tins but couldn't find any? Jasp
  23. Interesting stuff SnB! I'm now coming to the end of my Blue/Silver .177 batch. it will be interesting to see if the .177's have also changed. I swear by the FTT's in my Air Ranger! if these are a update of the old FTT's and they're performing aswel as you witnessed then I'll be one happy chappy . Jasp
  24. Got a PM this morning from the same guy saying he had added me to his friends list, i looked on his profile and he had accumilated 198 friends without a single post . I banged a post up in the Moderators forum about my new friend . Jasp
  25. Bang on the money Wurz! lovely shooting mate that 95 looks a nice peice of kit pal, to be honest I havn't seen one close up but it looks like another lovely example of German engineering. atb Jasp
