Knocked one up a few weeks back but have to say I'm disapointed with the crap elastic I picked up off Ebay. its pretty light to pull with no real power to it! the lad now uses it now and again practicing in the back field.... Jasper

looks like some cracking sport you have there Rog . Just out of interest it looks pretty open there! do you back a Hide up against anything when doing the pigeons or Fowl? atb Jasp

alot of the Hare shoots I heard about in Norfolk took place near the Sandringham estate around the Bircham and surrounding areas. I had a Invite in the earley 90's after getting friendly with a keeper near by and going on a few local Cock shoots. You're right there was a few foreigners there aswel as people who thought they could shoot probably includeing myself, you might not beleive this but over a course of two days there was somtimes in excess of 400 - 500 Hares shot . when I heard these Figures being bantered about I was gobsmacked but it wasn't surpriseing when you saw the amount fa

I used to go out now and again with a few lads pre ban admitidly not beagling but out with the Lurchers! Must say it was a big adrenelin rush and I loved it, I never turned down a invite after the first time. One of the reasons I love flying Hawks too is the chase! from a sporting point of view this is everything to me plus hopefully the bird is succesfull too, the kill is also Important to me for the birds confidence but its nice to see a good even match. I try to do everything possible to see a good fit Hawk in full flight against some good fit wild quarry, All the quarry gets a fair spo

see told you my spelling was a bit wayward . seems like I hit the M when I should hit the N ... I'll definitley get the wife use a Onion . must say your recipe made my mouth water so I'm now looking forward to it. I had a Rabbit cassarole last season the first time for years! food from the gods, just a shame alot of them get wasted..... Jasper

cheers for the reply Andy I went on a Hare shoot in North Norfolk a few years back! have to say it scared the crap out of me the way some guns shot straight down the line, at one stage I could here Pellets thuding into the soil around me, I said then never again... All I can say is it was Carnage! anyone who thinks all these Hares was killed cleanly even useing shot as low as 4's is talking total Rubbish, I lost count how many was back ended or needed a second barrel to finish the job or necked. must say I'm a bit miffed how some people who have now admitidly aknowledged they own a Ai

Spot on Moxy cracking bit of sport there pal wish some of you lads lived closer as I would buy the Rabbits and some other vermin off you, clean Air Rifle kills are ideal for feeding to my birds... atb Jasp

I had a good idea you was flat out mate. to be honest I only pop out now and again with the gun just to give the birds a change from the usual diet, always somthing else needs doing here lately! beleive it or nots its pi****g down here today yet is was like summer yesterday... Look forward to hearing the new album pal . the wife got me one of them decks you can connect to the PC and play some of the old 45's and 33 records on, I went up the loft and burned off some classics which I now play in the car! the kids think its crap as expected... Can't honestly see whats wrong with slim whit

Much apreciated Inan thankyou . see! I have gleamed some good info off you already, and I'm not being sarcastic. I'll 100% give the recipe a try yis Jasp

Nice one pal , thought I hadn't see you about for a while. the Red wine bit sounds good enough to me! I'll have a scout on the net and see what recepies are about ... atb Jasp

spellings not one of my strong points Innnnnan! thankfully making clean kills is. but you knew what I was saying which is good enough for me pal .... Please don't end it there? intrigue me further and let me gleam the depths of your outstanding knowledge base, I consider myself a very lucky chap to share the same forum as you of which I'm indebted! I am not worthy .... yis Jasper

You have a point mate which I respect! if you read through it its near all constructive critisism basic disagreements being aired on a forum, its nowt to take to heart and no different than a difference of opinion in a pub or anywhere else for that matter... the topic could be locked or just disapeer but differences of opinion don't hurt anyone , it would be a sad world if we all agreed.... yis Jasp

You don't listen to the answers pal when they're laid infront of you! as I recall you asked it of another poster but I fancied a pop at it ... you can quote me as much as you want about your 50yrs experience! but the long and the short of it is the Hare was shot cleanly through the back of the head as you would expect from someone taking one on with a Air Rifle, one thing I can guarantee at the range it was shot in the zone I aimed for... I would expect anyone to take a Hare front end head or chest area with a Rimmy and so they should, you missed totaly what I was saying! this Hare was

stop talking is riddles old mate because you're now sounding silly! are you now telling me that everyone who shoots a Hare with a shotgun stops it cleanly? now you know thats totaly crap! have you ever been on a Hare shoot? you need to go on one and be eduacated ... a head shot in the cranium is a clean kill zone! if you body shot or backend a Hare with a Rimmy do you think it will stop it? wake up and smell the roses old mate you're beggining to repeat yourself over and over again........
-
totaly lost you pal . you quoted a recommendation? can you now tell me what it means or what it is? or Legally what it means? we can all make recommendations in life! if someone recommends a car to me does it mean I have to go out and buy it? Its against the law to hunt Hare with dogs but I'm yet to see anything about shooting them includeing a High Powered Air Rifle FAC or non FAC?
-
I could recommend myself to be prime minister but it wouldn't mean it was right? a recommendation is exactly what it is! its not law! seen plenty of recommendations not to shoot Fox with a .17HMR but plenty do pretty efficiently.......
-
Nice one Archie , must say I was a bit shocked expecially these days when the Hunting faternity should be singing from the same song sheet! good to see the shooters sticking to their guns. I think you hit the nail on the head judging from some posts ... Jasp

spot on Phil . is the idea of frying it to seal it first aswel as browning it? need to ask as the wife will be doing it . never had one for years mate, the last time I wasn't that struck! it was gamey as hell Roasted in foil... Jasp

No problem mate its all water under the bridge ! trust me none of it will be wasted as I hate wasteing anything I shoot, I scrounge as many of the Pheasants that can't go to the game dealer off the keepers or should I say as many as I can get in the freezer, all handy for the Ferrets.... I should have worded the original post better and saved alot of Hassle! Must say I won't be shooting another for a long time if ever, its not a animal I really want to keep adding to my quarry list whatever gun I am useing.. atb Jasper

No doubt about it mate some is going to the birds! I'll be having the saddle and both back legs just to try it again after a good few years. I Shouldn't have bothered putting the thread up really! I have shot a fair few squirrels over the last few weeks and didn't bother, I just saw another shooting competition has started which is why the date was placed near the Hare to prove when it was shot. the fact is it was shot cleaner than alot I have seen in the past useing shotguns on some of the Hare shoots they have here in Norfolk... Nice one pal! have to say I won't be repeating it n

I look at the post now Bill and think what a strange one. First I take a stroll with the gun and down a Hare cleanly <although I must add I did'nt specificly go out after a Hare> secondly I then have to explain myself on a HUNTING FORUM why I shot a Hare? then I'm told to refraim from the bad Language , (which has now been edited out).... from a entertainment point of view for once I'll have to give one of my threads 9 out of 10 .. YIS Jasp

Nice one sean! I will eat this Hare if I have to choke on it now mate, the birds can get stuffed because I would hate to upset anyone by feeding it to them mate.... I think next time I shoot anything I'll keep it to myself! I would also hate to bring a Hunting forum into disrepute by actually going out hunting and killing somthing ... atb Jasper

Point taken Richie but I think you'll find worse than this on the forum Mods and all in the past. some things warrant the odd swear word! I'm sure you must have been in the same situation and thought!! WTF is this about ......

Nice one Pal . I'm sitting here wondering if I am actually on a Hunting forum amongst fellow Hunters . I'm sure most just join to chat about Hunting and never get out and do it.... Take Care Bud Jasp
