D day soon mate weather permiting , you could give him some short rations the day before the big day or perhaps fly him a hour later than normal to make him slightly keener. also Saxon try not to hold him back too long mate as they soon get bored which can induce a bird to start calling, I'm not saying yours will but some people hold them back on the creance for weeks on end..........

I'm the same as you mate when it comes to owls. all I know is the kids have had a Barn Owl <Ozzy> now for a good few years which is as good as gold, he's been imprinted and ridiculously tame around anyone. I loaned him to a guy a while back who took him around the local schools! the kids loved him just as my kids do

:clapper: Makes alot of sense flying her on different ground mate. I'm confident in the past some of the birds knew the areas they had previously made kills on regular flying ground. also handy to get them out and about with different people aswel as groups. I think we're all a bit guilty of having them on a creance for too long when the bird has already told us its ready to go! I have lost count in the past when I have said "I'll just give it one more go on the creance" when deep down everything is fine. alot of hawks first time out have this habit of performing well on the line creance y

they're going on in the next couple of days PL! I'll then get a piccy up of the bird in its new dress code, also bunged a different Hood on him that fits a little better! He'll look very dapper .

Couldn't agree more actic . always leaves my heart pumping the first time the bird is placed loose waiting for the recall. as you know It don't always go to plan! I had a Gyr/Saker which responded instant while on the creance as soon as the the lure was shown, you cold even flick the lure into the air and he would snatch it while on the creance. on went his flying jesses and tag and off came the creance and the first recall was perfect with him coming in and landing on the lure, the second time I twitched the lure away giving him a pass, the lure was then thrown out with a shout but nope he wa

Engine Modification Chips
jasper65 replied to Urban Fox Control London's topic in 4x4's, Quads & ATV's
would love to get some more info on this myself. I spoke to a lad the other evening who mentioned his mate has a D40 Navara Outlaw which has been chipped and now coming back with near on 40 mpg on a run ? If this is the case its got to be worth thinking about. -
He's a good sensible boy Rickardo , he has his times when he remembers he is a Goshawk but I reckon thats part and parcel of taking up a nice arsey P/R Gos. I won't be doing a diary on him mate but will keep updates on him from time to time like when he takes his first sheep or red deer Jasp

He's behaving like a true P/R Goshawk at the momet, Full of hate for everyone . as you know they seem to get wilder a few days after being taken up, the shock at the start makes them seem steady at first until he they tag on whats going on. 1lb 12 1/2 today and took two good last years cock Pheasants in flight with him this morning! cracking flights mate you would have loved them ,. funny what a few whiskeys and sloe gin can do to the old swede mate Here's one of the Gayboy taken yesterday. give you a bell soon, Jasp

I know what you're saying mate! its a big adrenllin shot when you get some moral support from people around you, Big up pal things are looking good! Oi for England

onwards and upwards now Saxon! you'll be on a mission soon pal

thats a cracking result

Nice one pal , I don't think he'll be much of a problem! He's a nice sensible bird in every way, He Hoods well for a bird out of the aviary only two days which will only get better, the only downside is he has took the tips off a few tail feathers while in the aviary, I have a full tail here virtually ready to be imped in but I don't think I'll bother.

I think you have now had all these Tirings lark rammed down your throat until you are blue in the face saxon , although a bird like a Harris certainly won't need to be as food occupied like a more arsey natured bird! Harris's are gregariouse by nature and come on quickly. carry on with what you are doing mate! its a Harrishawk not a loonatic thats caused you grief from day one. the bird reads like a bird thats coming forward fine and the sooner you get him blasting the length of the creance and off killing the better, I think I mentioned to you when you PM 'd me alot of footiness will go when

Nice one Boycey . this one is off a loaned C Bramhald female which belongs to a pal, Your bird was definitely bigger than this one mate off the old B Haddon line. the B Haddon female only layed one eggs this year and stopped, she lays some monsters with this egg weighing slightly over 82grms! hopefully she will be back on track next season.

Pulled the male I kept back today at 12 weeks, wish I could have left him longer due to reasons beyond my control but he has already pressed the the self destuct button on his tail feathers so he had to come out. stuck a Hood on as you do, sprayed him down and let him settle before sticking him on the scales. thankfully I havn't got a huge Willy or I could say he came out nearly 3lb . Unfortunately he only weighed a mere 2lb 1/4 . thats fooked me right up as I was hopeing to take Hares and geese with him . seriously! he is a nice sensible bird compared to some and took the hood well co

Nice one lads I'll get em picked . the missus picked a good 5lb of Blackberries the other week which was also well ripe, I sampled some tonight in a Blackberry and Apple crumble

1 for the northeast lads ,sunderland vs newcastle
jasper65 replied to rocky1's topic in General Talk
don't support either of them but I reckon Sunderland will turn them over 2 - 1 -
cheers for the replies . they now 36 days and seem to be doing alright off the heat. It looks like I only have 4 Hens from 11 Jasp

used these in the past but they always seemed a bit flimsy for my liking and easily snapped when they get a bit weathered, I ended up glueing them onto a thin peice of leather and cutting it to the shape of the plec, this definitely helped to reinforce it. here's a few plecs on here cheap as chips, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-Dunlop-Nylon-1-0-Black-Guitar-Picks-Plectrums-/110727023933?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item19c7d84d3d

Hello Martin Great right up. I did some reading on Mr Duleep Singh , Elveden estate. I think this man also still holds the Partridge record for most shot in one day on the estate? I remember reading a book which I can't remember the author but there was a quote in there which read "I beleive I have seen the best of falconry in the uk of the likes will never be seen again", never a true'er word spoken. I think it was Thornton who wrote this but not 100% sure now. I attended a field meet at Eleveden a few years back and must say it was wonderful to see how the land was still managed and

bang on mate! Don't know if you remember the last time we was flying I did the same and stuck two on due to one of the tranny's playing up. to be honest PL It would have been easier for your mate to go back in the daylight and retreive it, if the batteries was checked before he went flyiing then there's should have been plenty left to retreive it 24hrs later no probs.

the last thing you want to do is add much more weight to your Transmitter expecially if deck mounting, there's loads of this stuff on Ebay to stick on the Transmitter , the other good thing is even when a Transmitter comes off the bird you can normally track it when there is daylight. I asked a pal a few years back to remove the transmitter off the Gos only to find it had gone complete with deck feather, I ended up tracking it back to some woods ending up in a strong signal all around me, it turned out I was virtually standing beside it caught on the bottom runner of a old Barbwire fence.
