  1. I think far worse is yet to come mate. they only tell us what they want to tell us! there's plenty they keep quiet we don't know about until we're all flat on our arse. what gets me is the govenment hammer us with cut backs and hike up VAT to 20% just so they can give more away to foreign countries in aid who don't need it
  2. I think your right Moll! hopefully the guy has kept them pretty much unrelated. I had three down in total! they're all in a ark together but for some reason this problem showed up. when you feel the joint its swollen but the tendon at the back of the joint has moved round to the side, it can be pushed back but its impossible to keep it there! I tried splinting one with no joy, if I put anything tighter on the legs it would cut off the blood supply. Its a strange one as it came on at a early age around 8 days mainly in one leg, I had one which had it in both which has now been euthanize
  3. No idea saxon! could be the admin still not finished configuring the new server, have you tried the tool that comes up at the bottom of the new post for adding attachments? Jasper
  4. I have a male here Mick that I kept back in 2004 for my lad, I only flew him for a couple of months at the most as he totaly lost interest . I finally loaned him to pal who had him up until last year for flying, by all accounts he was taking Bunny's and Hunting best at around 1.9! no doubt he'll fly heavier than this but it sounds like this is roughly his Hunting weight. I weighed him when I got him back and he was a tad over 1.13 . Jasp hiya jasper northern irish lad here ..... any working harrisis for sale that you know of???? cheers stop.end Hows it going Irish Lad , wish
  5. Keep this quiet mate but its been crossed with a Rhode Island Red. seen one of these crosses run down a Hare and peck it to death Jasp
  6. They are Moll! they can still be Inreeds if he crossed two birds from the same blood back together. Not sure if they was straight Rhode back to a Sussex or could well be <Rhode x L Sussex Brother back to Rhode x L Sussex Sister> or even worse.
  7. I'm pretty confident now willie its a tendon problem, for some reason on this couple of birds the tendon popped out of place. I have no idea why as the rest are perfect? Could it be a inbreeding problem?

  9. Go for it mate! I'm a bit concerned as to how it came about. two went down the same but the rest are ok, there is nowhere for them to injure themselves so I'm a bit miffed why they got it..
  10. Cheers for that mate! here's a picture I took a few days ago showing the birds right leg swollen which I must say seems a little better now. it feels like the tendon at the back of its Hock slipped round but why It would do that I have no idea
  11. I used to use a old phillips screwdriver ground down at the end for a Bodkin. I've found Its quick and efficient to break the neck to dispatch the quarry when making into the bird on its kill rather than use any tools.

  16. Noticed a couple of the pullets limping this morning, when I took a look both had one leg knee joint more swollen than the other. they both have full use of the leg but inflamed right at the back where the joint is? anyone seen this before as I have no idea whats caused it? they have a decent run with fresh shaving in and don't get up to much michief so I don't think its been done by any injury.

  19. cheers for the info men . seems like the guy knew what he was taking about when he came round. I just took them out of the Arc and stuck them in a large open top run with a Lamp in the corner. what you're sayng Tuzo makes a whiole lot of sense mate.....
  20. Had a chap round here yesterday who informed me I have taken my young Pullets away from their main heat source far too earley . they're now around 14 days and seem to be doing well but do Huddle in the evenings under a small red Bulb. He's telling me they need a the ceramic Lamp putting in there in the evenings so they don't get chilled. I read on the net they should be under heat for 6 weeks which seems a bit extreme as they have feathers on their back already and 14 days.
