Are you saying you would put a freshly Hooded bird on one of them things? I tell you now mate if I stuck one opf my birds fresh out of the aviary Hooded on one of these it would be dead pronto! I'm still yet trying to work out what you're gaining sticking a shortwing with one of these posts, ok you can give me the bit the added height is better than towering over them but what happend to the old "slow and low" cliche. Manned all mine on bows useing a Hood from day one basically because I don't know any different, good use of a Hood during the manning period certainly is nothing but benific

I had a P reg FSIE when I was a lad squint, it was a lovely little bike but a pals AP50 always had the beating of me! I even took the Baffles out so it sounded faster

no disrespect to the author mate but it would be a nice book for proping the bed up if it was a bit thicker . if you get yourself or hire one from the Library try and get yourself a decent old book on Manning and trainning a shortwing, I wouldn't be looking at any books specific on a Harris! once you glean the techniques involved in trainning a P/R shortwing you'll certaionly carry this through to train a Harris. when I was a lad I used to lay under the bed covers with a torch "The Art And Practice Of Hawking - E B Michell", Mavrogordatos A Hawk For The Bush would also be a nice book to r

The whole country has been like a ticking time bomb for some time, people are being hammered by cutbacks and the cost of living, people are having their pensions hammered, food and fuel is going through the roof and job cuts, when is it all going to stop? the police force have also suffered big time with cutbacks, their moral must be on the floor too. they're then put in the front line of a full scale riot, I feel for them as much as anyone else involved. the initial spark started from a single incident involving the police allegidly shooting some black guy, its all far deeper than that no

Flew a good few birds in the past without Telemetry! the fact is back then my family couldn't afford such luxurys so I had to make do. I think one of the last bird was a Retail which was pretty pricey back then but the bird was there to be flown so fly it I did, before the days of Telemetry we had to make do with field craft and bells which seems to be lacking these days in favour of telemetry being their saviour, I had a few out overnight but thankfully retreived them in the end.... I hope you get your bird back soon Leepy! things can get pretty tense when you lose a bird. with luck you'l

There's plenty that don't expecially with a bird such as a Harris, its a shame as a Hood is beneficial in alot of ways. any bird that comes out of these aviaries gets a Hood put on its head! it helps in many ways, not flown a Gos yet that hasn't been hooded through its manning and trainning and there after. weather the new owner continues to Hood the bird is down to them, it helps keep any stress to a bird to a minimal expecially when being handled fitting equipment or whatever

Big up to the breeder saxonmaster, the bird is in lovely fettle. the fun begins now mate with the manning and trainning, its all good as the bird moves through its different stages and you can tick off each stage from the time it first fed off the fist to jumping to the fist and so on. when you get him loose and take your first head of quarry you'll be one happy chappy mate Jasp

whats the difference then if its kept clean? weather its on the floor or on a perch you're still going to get Germs! then again where don;t you get them when raw meat is in use. I use astro on shelf perches where birds sit most of the day and have done for years. if it gets covered in shit its easy to power wash down weather its on the floor or on a perch, give it a blast with some Anti Bac <Virkon> and a quick hose down and Bingo! nice and clean again... The floors of my aviaries are sharp sand as is the weatherings.
-
I use astro turf on all perches in the Peregrine aviaries! never had a problem with any germs as I'm spraying the turf down. the whole aviaries get sprayed down with Virkon a few times a year which does the trick. Once its worn out and looking rough its replaced, it certainly avoids any problems with Bumblefoot in the falcons when perching. Jasper

Fook me that was a tight one! not seen the game yet but looked at the half time score 2 - 0 Man City and thought here we go again , seems like we raised the bar a bit in the second half after letting them have a couple of goals . I'll be watching it later with my lad on the box and kicking every ball . where do you get to see these games live if you don't have Sky?

Its incredible how quick these things can be arranged on the social networking sites, just another one of the dangers of these sites when it falls into the wrong hands.....

Read this link the other week about alot of Garden birds with a virus, the symptoms are irregular growths which can be seen on the infected bird. the sad thing is its pretty infectious and will soon spread around. to cut a long story short I have seen a few great tits hanging on my nuts and seed stick which looked to have growths. today next Doors moggy nailed one which I managed to get off it in the picture, for once the cat probably did good taking this infected bird out of the system. Here's also the link to the virus. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-14380813

A how to guide needs pinning at the top mate if you're up for it? as for tomorrow!! a walk in the park against the noisey neighbours . 3 - 1 Man Utd All The Way.

Nice neat job saxon , the elbow drain pipe food shoots take some beating, I still use them at the back of my imprint pens to fire food straight onto the nest ledge if needed, also use this method on my old pairs of Harris's aviary. simple and effective just the way I like it! I like the simple things in life these days mate Jasp
