    news tonight

missed all the news last night mate.. seems like some of them havn't been accounted for, by the sound of it he go off pretty lightly.......
  3. I have a Brittany that likes to range out a fair way which is probably down to me and my training. it points well and even used to point the flys around its food bowl when it was a pup. Its now 4 and still pretty scatty although it has calmed down a bit. the best soution for this dog before its worked is to get it out and let its burn up some energy first before any seriouse work is done with it
  4. You can get most sizes you need from a Garden centre and save yourself a fortune, even seen them in wilkinsons .........
  5. It was far from finished in them pictures, still needed food shoots, nest ledges and all the other cosmetics before they was the finished article, I still alter them now as and when I think its beneficial to do so ....
  6. Its a sad state of affairs mate keep hearing people say that falconry is on the way up . they must be looking at it with rose coloured glasses or lived in a cave for a few years Jasper
  7. He'll get there mate! once he has taken one and his confidence is up there'll be no stopping him . Don't know what its like where you are but its red hot here which makes a difference on the birds keeness, it was 24 degrees here today and 27 on thursday .... Jasp
  8. the netting I use shello is the same stuff they use on the Landfill sites. it perfect for the birds as it won't harm them when they fly up at the roof like alot of young P/R Goshawks before being taken up. Its good easy netting to work with, the stuff I used was 12ft wide by 52 metres long, it was handy as me and Millet slung it across the who section of over 70ft of aviaries a couple of pictures before the partition was put up across the entire front, and one when finished before being sprayed with fence care...
  9. I know this isn't a good comparisom but I know when I take up a hawk if I show any anger or shout I'm fighting a losing battle. I know people do it differently but everytime I pick a Hawk up from the time its feeding off the glove it gets food on my aproach, its not long before the bird looks forward to me aproaching it in anticipation of a meal, ok I can pick the bird up without any food and walk around with it while going through its initial Manning/Trainning but then it doesn't want to be there and consiquently will jump around trying to fly away giving the bird a negative response being fo
  10. Can't say I thought the lad was over the top, aparantly he has now been sacked and also being investigated by the RSPCA. Anyone think his techniques was over the top? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2042203/One-Show-axes-bully-dog-trainer-Jordan-Shelley-faces-RSPCA.html -jZJ4iSEE'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jZJ4iSEE
  11. cracking bit of footage ! totaly agree andy the guy wasn't over wreckless like some I've seen. no doubt about the lad will be skinned if he comes off but I'm sure we've all done when we was lads. I had a Yamaha DT175MX when I was around 18 1982 and would like a pratt ride around in cutdown jeans and T shirt most of the summer, certainly not clever but we was all invincable at that age . I ended up putting a nice hole in my right knee being clever doing wheelies! I wasn't too bad doing them and could go through the first three gears no problem, the big mistake was doing them standing on th
  12. Looking good shello . for the bars I have used 22mm galvanised conduit for a few years now. it came in 16ft lengths and cut it to size with the angle grinder. I then used 3 x 2 CLS for the window frame which was drilled hafway through so the conduit dropped into the wood and not completey through, it was gaped around 3.5" from the centre of one bar to the next . Must say bud you're making a grand job. Jasp
  13. :clapper: nice to see the bully get some payback Martin . this was one has been on youtube long while, Just another bully getting sparked clean out by somone watching in the wings
  14. with all this practice when a Handbag needs swinging I can swing it better than most Lab ..........
  15. Yeah you're right! the problem is weather he is on this form or not it won't be hard fro him to get a bird. they're all over the internet now for these people to get hold off. when he's gone there's 10 more like him ready to take his place . Jasp
  16. Wow there's some seriouse classics there . quote me if I'm wrong but can I see one or two Webley Air Ranger's there? it looks very simular to a little gun I had as a lad, it was a cracking little accurate gun.... Jasper
  17. I think you'll find there's plenty of them on the boards old mate! If anyone needs sorting on this particular forum I'll do it..........
  18. couple of local farms have been done over with diesel and other stuff going missing, also somone on the estate I was talking to had 1500 litres of oil deliverd a few weeks back only to find the lid off the tank and the level down to a quarter . thankfully I have security everywhere and many things tio deter any hardend thief , Its the Fox's and Deer I struggle to keep out.......
  19. dead right Paulus! I can see Goshawks going the same way mate, perhaps not so dramatic but its not far off. far too many hawks being bred these days exceeding demand.... the other thing I hate is the way the Harris is used as a stepping stone to a Gos and passed from pillar to post. I was talking to a old falconer the other week who said to me that he doesn't like the direction falconry is heading these days, I think he is right expecially when you see the amount of birds forsale these days.....
  20. alot of these white feathers are a deficiency in their diet, I picked up some youngsters a few years back that was totaly knackered due to the white feathers being brittle and snapped, these birds could hardly get off the ground. I know you can get true albino's but these birds have a problem ... looks like a crow? then again my eyesights knackered these days..
  21. seen then thrown in free with a pair of jesses on ebay . seriously! Its a shame how these lovely hawks have come to this, they transformed Falconry and opend up alot of doors for the bird control business's and display teams, plus a nice relaxed trouble free form of Hunting......
  22. Just out of interest all these years I have been useing white sugar, does it taste better useing brown as stated above? also noticed the sloes are pretty earley this year around here. The missus picked over 5lb of them in the freezer now
  23. Nice one Macaveli . Just looked them up and they sound pretty hardy and ideal for what I want, I like the look of them Bear Grylls trousers but by all accounts they're not ideal for crashing about in woodland with.......
  24. Remiinds me of a phone call I had a when I was advertiseing a proven Tiercel Pere in the old Cage & Aviary, a guy rang me and asked me would I want to swap a female Harris for it, back then it wasn't a bad deal as the Harris was worth around £750, to cut to the chase we got talking and he mentioned his mate had a Barn Owl which had caught a few voles but couldn't understand why it wouldn't take Rabbits? he went on telling me they have ferret them for the bird but each time it ignored them , by this time I was beginning to think he was on a wind up but nope he was totaly seriouse, this is t
