  1. Made my evening.... with Man Utd winning and cocky big headed Khan loseing I slept well ........
  2. I bet you're well chuffed Shello? great feeling when it all slots into place, all the time and effort has now proved worth while bud ... All the best with your Dad mate, its times like this you realise whats most important.... I'm off tomorrow with the Gos on some of my old stomping ground with Harriswill, I'm struggling finding quarry on the bit of land I have around here which is a nightmare. he also punctured the top of his ankle after diving headlong into blackthorn after a magpie, this was a shame as he he's a proper boomeranger to the fist but needs more quarry put infront of him
  3. Give me a .177 anyday... Pellet in the cranium! Job Done.....
  4. easily done in this weather mate. Mick1212 has the right idea bringing him in doors to keep him warm until his condition goes up and he perks up a bit, even if you stand him in his carrying box for the evening somehwere warm in the house. remove all the castings or should I say basically skin everything when feeding, hopefully he will take food himself if not its a crop tube job with some blended meat and vitamins. let him put it over before giving him some more, don't crop him out just little and often until he starts to put his food over at the normal rate, if he is low his whole digestive s
  5. any chance he was low/light? with this cold weather we're having now they need to be up in condition with a few more reserves. a bird that is already well down in condition can litteraly go low while you look at it expecially when its burning more calories while flying. think I would give him some food thats easy to digest little and often with some Vit supplement and extra calcium, let him put his crop over between feeds to avoid sour crop. CCF is great in bringing birds round from the brink which are poorly or in need of some extra care. he could well be fitting too? may well be a t
  6. totaly agree Paulus . if you handle/train them yourself any bad habits can only be blamed on ourselves. cracks me up mate when I see people picking theirs birds up off a kill to a chick leg and then wonder why the birds get possessive over tjheir quarry there's some pretty arsey secondhand birds out there which have been mishandled one way or another, I'm surprised some people havn't been seriously injured or blinded yet.........

My memory is not so good these days Keith but I can vaguely remember. the guy in West Winch Mick H's Peregrines was from my old bloodlines at the time, we was in parnership on a pair I sorted him out with a female from a friend of mine and ended up putting one of my old Tiercels I brought in 1992 down his to make the pairing, also managed to sort out a old pair for him from a pal Ron Digby but this old pair wasn't pure and had Barbary genes in them but still very nice birds, I helped Mick out a couple of years ago with the AI side of things when he wanted to move things on from just doing the

Just seen you are a Norfolk Lad . I used to live there a few years back and moved on now, its was a nightmare moving everything and building aviaries again but thankfully some people came to my rescue who I'm Indebted to ..... did you get your birds from a local breeder? what part of Norfolk do you reside in?
  9. Big up for Cameron . sick of seeing the french and germans in each others pockets making all the decisions, . makes me puke how they look down their noses at the UK... the French have some very short memories...... Just seen this showing what apears to be Cameron being blanked by Sarkozy.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2071952/Eurozone-crisis-David-Cameron-vetoes-EU-treaty-save-euro.html

The forum has over 38,000 members. as you can imagine the Moderators and Admins can't keep tags on every post without living on the forum 24/7, any posts detrimental to the forum are dealt with when reported or picked up when scanning the boards. the main guy on this particular topic being threatening was Banned from the forum in September. Good luck with your Harris! sounds like she's a gamey girl .... Jasper
  11. is it one of the later models with the blued cylinder and barrel Eddy? the older models was painted. don't quote me on this but I think its the MK3 onwards that came with the blueing and also the "S" versions . Is is .177 or .22?
  12. Yep a cracking idea with a small hawk like a Spar which I have done myself but none get proper fit like chaseing quarry or being worked hard in the field.... Birds get fit chaseing quarry and we get fit trying to keep up with them ............
  13. Got a few problems with them here at the moment, I suppose living in the country I have to expect it. each winter its a never ending war at this place not so much around the aviaries but around the chickens/sheds and the missus also has them going in the polytunnel now. I have no other choice but to blitz them with poisen when in the areas above which is well away from the aviaries. when they're around the aviaries I use cage and selfset traps along the partition, I always have a few cage traps around the aviaries in the winter....
  14. Good question.. Can't see how anyone can get them proper fit unless they are flying them hard virtually everyday, working 5 days a week would make it virtually impossible. I would think some shft work would help if working nights and not getting much sleep during the day..........
  15. Good luck with the birds capture John .....
  16. some decent books wouldn't go amiss either shaun . there's plenty at the Library which is the route I took as a lad before buying some, I ended up reading them from cover to cover and reading them again and gleaning the information that was most valueble to me. I kept a diary jotting down the valued info from book to book that would benefit me. the reason for this is many books can me contradictive to each other and confuseing when you read a few, some techniques can be different from one author to another but I found some of the older variety of books was full of valueble info. basics lik
  17. This film had me shitting myself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCgWA7RFCxk
  18. Good film that.. a guy who's head Gasket blew bigtime after being pushed to his limits..........
  19. I feel for the poor kid sitting on her lap . she obviously felt the need to fire off but there's a time and a place for everything when the kids are not in ear shot.............
  20. You can average any many as you want old mate but I have lost count how many people have looked in my aviaries at youngsters and said "Thats a nice big bird I'll take that one". I have also lost count how many foreigners who ring up for birds want me to quote weights with most want birds of a certain weight, arabs can be expecially choosey when it comes down to size Peregrine wise. people who pays the money for a Finnish Goshawk expect a bird maintaining a Finnish size, if its smaller they'll soon as expected moan. I think you'll also find for many years giving the choice most austringers
  21. Nice one Milo! good luck with him for the rest of the season
  22. as alot of the old falconers used to say "Big Boys Little Girls", couldn't agree more with that quote... the problem is "Big Willy" falconers want big birds so from a breeders point of view its supply on demand....
  23. I think you're right mate . I get the impresion that Mark wish he never parted with him, mind you we have all done it in the past one way or another...........
  24. This is a male I gifted to a guy that sat in the aviary for 20 weeks until he picked it up. he weighed 1lb 15 1/2 with the Hood on. I had him back here for one reason or another for a while until he got sorted and had him Jumping to his fist at 1lb 11
