  1. totally agree 100% cookie Unfortunatly sorry seems the hardest word even when some people know they're wrong or bang out of order............
  2. , I was just the same as you Paulus and loved all the birds, some of the featherd types were quite nice too .... we still have a canary here which is a few years old, he is the only Canary I have heard that wolf whistles picking it up off my mobile phone ring tone is that rosette for first place Paulus?
  3. I'll take your word for it joel and hang the next one for a 5 days Couldn't agree more mate. I can't say it was what I would call tender, it was like eating a older bird but it was only a tad over 6 months... I'll get another one done next weekend and leave it to hang a while like Patterdalejoel mentioned trust me Moll he was a hard one to catch . I told Gill not to let them out until I caught him up but she forgot, finally caught him up in a landing net and called the ambulance for myself shortly after . there was far more meat on the legs than the breasts, I think
  4. nice one Trappa . have to say it was the best flavoured bird I have had for many a moon, the leg meat was very dark and even the breast slightly darker than the super market stuff.... the only thing is its such a long drawn out process before he finally made it to the pot, in that time they've mullered most of the garden aswel as the some of the wifes veg patch and also hammered and flowers in the vicinity, can't say the flowers bothered me too much but the missus was pretty peeed off
  5. what a handsome chap he was too .. been round my mothers today and sifted through some oldies of the birds, I'll get some scanned soon when I get 5..........
  6. Just look what this cockerel did to itself when it got bored, it then walked straight into the oven ......

  8. Nice one Guys cheers .. Nice to know I'm doing nowt wrong, I'll do one of the other two for next weekend now. I'm used to the super market birds and seeing how fat they are which is really the reason I thought this bird looked so lean... Just tucked the bird away after a late dinner and have to say what a cracking tasteing bird, the legs was the Darkest meat I have seen for a long while and the flavour is going to take some beating .... Jasp
  9. I reckon most british islanders would find it intimidating. once they started to patrol their island with destroyers and subs I think most people would feel threatend. I'm not saying we should let them have the Falklands by any means as whats ours is ours but Tomo has a good valid point ........
  10. my Rhode Isalnd Red x Light Sussex cockerels was 6 1/2 months yesterday, I picked the largest of the three before finally preparing him for the pot and should be ready in the next half hour . what I can't understand is they have had good food on tap aswell as being free range around the garden, nearly everytime I look at them they have a crop on them. the strange thing is none are what I would call fat? I can't say they're thin either but definitely lean compared to one from the super market .. am I doing anything wrong? should i leave them longer before culling them for the oven? thi

  24. one of the lads I ferret with has a fairly small Hob which works well, I'm now thinking why not put him over my medium sized albino Gill to make myself up a smaller line... it will then give me the best of both worlds with my larger working Hobs and the smaller line too. also bumped into a old boy who beats on this estate and got on the subject of Ferreting, he mentioned some of the Ferrets he used many years ago was very small compared to the likes these days? no idea how true this is .....
