  1. High jumps are a good start for a stretch and help with some stamina at the start and bonding to the fist but personally no one will ever convince me you'll get a bird truely fit with this process . If my Gos gave me 150 High jumps it works out on average 150 flicks of its wings? If on the other hand I stand a good 30 - 50yds from a Ferreted Rabbit the Gos would be pumping all the way to make up No1: the Law I allowed the rabbit and No2: the extra speed needed to reel it in and secure its quarry. I'm pretty certain that the birds wings would be working harder/faster useing full strokes compare
  2. Top man Graham cracking stuff .... I know what you're saying about the Dangers! I had a nice 2lb 10 aviary weight Pere x Saker off Gary Wall in 95 which for some reason used to get off on a bundle with crows, she had plenty of power and more than capable of grabing them by the head but for some reason never did... On a few occasions she had Crows/Rooks rolled over on their backs with their feet up clasping her and literaly having the Falcon eyelid in the tip of its beak, she just seemed to ignore it and carry on with the wrestling match , she was finaly sold to a popular Bird control c
  3. with all respect you'll never reach true fittness by doing high jumps! you'll get them perhaps semi fit but true fittness comes from flying regular plus chaseing quarry .... Jasper
  4. Just out of Interest can't this happen to any gun if you're useing Tight chokes like FULL and heavy loads such as BB's or SG's? I was on a Hare shoot a good few years ago in Bircham Norfolk useing 4's and was advised then to open up the chokes! I ended up useing Improved and Cylinder although I still think the 1/4 and 1/2 I normaly use would have coped with it fine .... Jasper
  5. Ricky NPP has been off the forum for over a Month so there could be a genuine reason. I read through a Comment on his profile and it seems he did do a Legite transaction with another user on the forum TIMELORD with another gun, perhaps this guy might be able to fill you in Mantha , if not its the Paypal route all the way mate .... 8. 100% as people have said in previouse posts! we used to take Jackdaws and Magpies when we was kids just before the branching stage. I had a few jackdaws one of which would talk saying "Jack" and "Come On"! this bird would follow me to school. I would let him out first thing in the morning but used to have to climb over my mums front fence because if the bird heard the gate he would be straight over the house and on my shoulder, and you guessed it his name was "Jack" ... Also had a carrion crow called "Charlie" which I was forced to let go by my old man due to his attacks on the two young g

What fights would stand out as some of the best you have seen!! either in your lifetime or before? lets face it there has been some classics and some decisions went the wrong way so think carefully ? one which was controversial but still a cracker from round 12 Leonard one of the best vs Dave Boy Green Larry Holmes totaly underated
  14. Compatible pairs will breed in all sorts of size aviaries. too bigger aviaries expecially for pairs of Gos's are of no benefit due the fact they can put too much space between each other, in the wild they have obviouse space but when captive breeding I wouldn't want something like a 40ft aviary partitioned into 20ft sections!! when the partition is dropped and they have a full 40ft flight all sorts of damage can and will accure.... My pair Gos pen is 24ft by 12ft partitioned. the Imprints range from 10 x 10ft to 8 x 8ft! its plenty big enough to succesfully breed. One guy I know who bred w

    eating crow

I'll probably get Hammered for this but a good few years back I was shooting Rooks/Crows on one of the farm when a old boy from one of the cottages walked over to me just as I was setting up and asked if he could have a few Rooks as he loved a Rook pie and hadn't had one for many years.... By the end of the day I ended up with a few pigeons and 3 Crows! Not wanting the let the old boy down I Beheaded the crows cut the wings back and partialy plucked them for the old boy telling them they was Rooks ... The next time I bumped into him I thought he was going to have a pop at me but nope!

  18. Cheers for that Info Cube we cancelled the Insurance the day before the renewel! Yet I just had the old Insurance company on the phone 7 days after cancelling telling me I owe them £30 for admin fees. I told him where to get off and also told the guy if he wants to take court action then go for it... the first time they rang he spoke to the wife and asked her to get her credit card and pay it now , thankfully she obviousley told him where to get off, I'm fumeing with the b*****ds and their Bullying tactics when they was on the phone to the wife.... I recommended this Insurance co
  19. I have been trying it in the Garden and utility room since coming home stubby! if I hold the Locator say around 2ft straight above the collar I get a good continuouse strong signal, if I then move the Locator up in say 4 inch segments still staying directly above! it misses for a sec or two and then continues to blip eeach time it is moved upwards, sometimes it stops totaly before finally kicking in again.... Jasper
  20. Just been out today with the ferrets. one had the older type MK3 collar on and the other the MK3M! Its probably me being a Numpty but the new collar seemed to be intermiten compared to the older one . I pinpointed the ferret showing 4 1/2 foot but when I sweep the Locator slighly away it stops for a sec or two and then kicks in again, also when I come back over the top of the ferret again it blips away for a few seconds and then stops, I then sweep back around the area and nothing! then come back to where the ferret had killed and it works again then stops. this could be me but the older
  21. I know nothing about nets but I totaly agree mate they're pretty flimsy!! You're also bang on its a bit of dowel for the pegs ..... I'm keeping my eyes open for some more but what do I go for Spun Nylon or Hemp? cheers Jasper
  22. I'm 100% straight out of a comic book when it comes to Ferreting but I'm determined to get out and net a few bunnies for the freezer for some different Hawk Food plus the odd one for the Pot .... I have used Ferrets for a good few years for Bolting to Hawks or shotgun but never tried the netting side of things which will be a new venture. so far I have invested in 3 MK3M collars to go with my old one, a few more Ferrets includeing a nice Jill Millet gave me a few weeks back, and now finally invested in some nets... Looking at these nets which came off Ebay they look a tad flimsy or are
  23. My bitch has just come out of season but next season I'll give her a whirl if you're up for it? I'll either give you cash or choice of litter its up to you. she has a cracking pedegree which goes back through generations of falconers. The KC name on this bitch is Gos's Mate but she's not much of a mate most of the time she's just a pain in the arse Jasper
