  1. Can't fault my old Navara either! had it now 3 years and sailed through 3 MOTS. Its good on fuel and reliable and easy for anyone with a ounce of savy to service..... One thing I had pointed out to me the other day by Millet because I have never read the manual . I always thought I needed to stop to select 4 x 4 but I have now since found out you can slip it in and out of 4 wheel drive anywhere upto 40mph <Clutch not needed>, its come in very handy when my steep driveway was snowed over....... Jasper
  2. there's a few who went anonymouse mate in the falconry section for variers reasons .... Jasper
  3. Tell me about it mate!! its a trait I picked up of Mr Haddon! there's a good few of the genuine Gos breeders expecially the natural pair breeders who pull their hair out from time to time, I just tend to throw everything about for a few weeks more than most . The biggest girl chucked out 11 eggs last year so I'm hopeing for much the same this year Jim, so far everything is on track at the moment with one more large female coming down tomorrow with Frank... Its a funny as one of the females always comes in well ahead of the others and stands alot earlier! yet she still lays first week
  4. Nice one Jim I can imagine bolting Rabbits down them hills with a Gos flat out on their arse, it looks stunning.... I'm now doing things to the aviaries I should have done weeks ago! I opened one door and the Hinge snapped which has now been replaced, but all in all with some tidying a few changes they will do for another season... Both tiercels are now in the chambers and clucking away! the female on the other hand will be banged in hers shortly, I weighed her the other day with Gill in the Morning after she had cast, she was one fat lady weighing in at 2lb 13 1/4oz's! the pictur
  5. :welcomeani: to the forum Jasper
  6. Welcome to the forum mate Thats a nice looking male everiss. You're having some good sport there mate by the looks of things with him.... Jasper
  7. Very nice boycey! Its funny mate but I have hear a few comments this year about some Russian X birds not makeing the weights of the true Finnish birds, I heard one case of a guy paying £2500 for a female which aparantly is still flying well below 2lb 10 , this could well be his fault but either way you would expect it to have been going higher by the end of season..... Let us know how things go mate through the breeding season Jasp
  8. Nice one RIOHH . all in all it was a good week with some good company! there's two good peices of land full of Bunnies and whatever, the weather played a big part but we'll get out again sometime in the new season I'm sure Jasp
  9. Finally finished flying yesterday after a bit of a hit and miss season in the flying stakes, I never really got her going due to one thing and another so fitness was one thing she lacked in abundance. I would say this week was the most I have flown her all season and she started to show some potential towards the end when the weather was good.... It ended with a few hours out ferreting and a couple of Rabbits in the bag! there's Nothing outstanding to write home about but she did what most hawks will do when a Rabbit is bolting infront of her . Nice one Millet with the Handy camera wo

Nice one mate it was a good crack! the Sloe Gin and Ginger Whiskey also helped warm us up a fair bit too . here's a few more pic's of the weekend which I'm now just about recovering from, That Ditch must have been cold mate when it filled the tops of your wellies . we must have covered some land miles between us walking Rabbits but when you're in good company it quite litteraly flys past .... we had a few more days Millet and me out Hawking and ferreting but the weather has been so unpredictable with either snow rain and wind atb Jasper
  11. Been there a few times Richie its just round the coast for me. its ok mate if you like the sea! perfect if you like Crabs Jasper
  12. Very nice Boycey I wouldn't mind doing some swaps with you sometime in future if you're up for it mate! I can see you knocking out some cracking size birds in the near future with that stock.... cheers Jasper
  13. Nice one john cheers . it makes me laugh as you read alot of the Incubation guides or books and they advice adding water, its probably 100% right in warmer climates which is why they come with Wells in the bottom but like you said the UK has plenty of Humidity aleady, my usual problem is drying them out.... cheers Jasper
  14. you are 100% right stevie it does corrode metal! I'm sorry mate I should have mentioned it by heads up my arse as usual . I use some kitchen towel just to wipe it out a bit, the main things to look out for on this Inc is the Turner which is metal and the element... I know one guy who breeds a good few birds who just uses The clear Detol Antibac from Tesco's and swears by it! they probably all do near enough the same job mate so it might be a idea for me to try it this year.... cheers Jasper

I can't keep up with you mate! Jim will need the Zimmer frame mate so bring it with you . I'll Pm him mate and all go for Mid day onwards ........ speak later Jasper
  16. Just before I fire up the Incubators/Hatchers and Brooder March time I spray them out with Virkon! I leave them for a while before turning them on to dry out and leaving to run for a good 12 hours to stabilize... On the humidity side of things I never add water in the Grumbach forced air Incubator, I only add water in the still air Hatcher when eggs are placed in there at Pip stage, Humidity in there is around 60% or slightly higher running at 37. 3 - 5 centigrade... with 99% of the eggs I weigh down most need drying out due to loseing weight too slow, I end up putting holes in the air

I hope so mate! I rang him earlier but couldn't get hold of him but will buzz him later. had a wander with the bird and to be Honest it was pretty dead, she was a bit unsure with the first few recalls in the snow but finally speeded herself up after a few well aimed snowballs in her direction .... I slipped her at one Rabbit close to cover which she hadn't got a hope in hell with, mainly just to get some use in her wings! she over flew the Bunny and disapeered in the fog that was coming in, she wasn't far away just sitting in a low Hawthorn, I called her down and had a quick walk around to
  18. Very Nice Boycey . Are these the pic's you sent me on the Mobile phone? they'll be ideal to get some semen into from the male DB has down his, failing that any decent male..... speak soon Jasper

The Pigeon shooter are out and about here now Jim! Its something I must get out and do this year with some steel shot for the Larder, I had some pigeoons Millet brought down last year which was handy so I must make the ffort and get out with the gun...... It will be 100% Sunday mate! I meant to ring Frank but last night was one of them nights here and I forgot, but sunday is a 100% a Go Go, the main plan is to walk up the landfill for some decent walked up flights and Ferreting on another day while Millets down , I'm off out today in the deep snow for a quick wander which should knacker me

she looks a lovely sensible Gos Jim! she's a credit to you I've not flown mine for probably a couple of weeks but will need to get out with her before the weekend. I can finally feel at ease flying on a Saturday now with the game season finished in the area, last Saturdays last day of the season was Mayhem here with Guns going off all over the place around where I fly... I'll be contacting Frank tonight to see if he can make it over this weekend! I need to get out walking about again and get some of these calories off so Sunday we'll be walking the landfill which should put me in tra

Great to see you on here mate speak soon Tony
  22. Here you go mate plenty on here... http://www.independentbirdregister.co.uk/w...ird%20Mart.html
  23. about 6 inches of it here and still coming down..... Jasper
  24. I'm sure a bird of that size when in condition should be able to sustain a good even pace to fly down any pheasant in fair flight! On their day a fit in condition bird when asked to perform this in a open field or wherever should acheive it everytime, the problem is they're not always on their day so we can't expect these great flights on every occasion. Many of the game reared birds in the area expecially in the early part of the season put in after a shortish flight and are taken fairly easy by birds no where near their top fitness, but when a good strong seasoned Cock bird gets up and stays
  25. The smaller birds have this lovely clippy wingbeat and seem to dash off the fist in a blur! weather they are actually faster than the bigger birds is another thing or is it just our eyes playing trick with us as the small bird perhaps fool us they are going quicker .... I know this much when you watch some P/R youngsters flying round the pen you can see the difference expecialy when they need to turn in tight corners, I bred some 3/4 German x Finn birds a while back and the males zipped round the aviary like Bumble bees! they're always constantly on the go flying from one end to the other
