  1. I flew a female hh bred by John ackerman and she was flown at 2 lb 81/2 oz but the heaviest she flew at was 2lb 10 oz and caught 2 mallards at that weight.Im afraid size means little to me however and i prefere the agility of a male hh but thats just personal opinion
  2. I promise i will get a picture of him up this week...Im still stuck at 2 rabbits due to myxie hitting again but the buggar has caught 2 cock pheasants on the rise ..he thinks hes a hunting cat on the african planes the way he leaps at them lol
  3. Well done Penny im glad to see shuck is doing so well
  4. If you fancy a change go for it and try to go out with a goshawer for the day.I did this a few seasons ago and i ended up sticking with the hh as the flight style didnt suit my way of hunting plus the fact that we spent more time looking for the gos with the telemetry than hunting(gamebirds)I have heard of goshawks following on and hunting from the soar like a hh but have never seen it yet, they may be just creatures of myth used to hunt unicorns.I dont think there flight style is as versatile as a hh,they are best flown from the fist
  5. Hes never been footed by the hawk but if the dogs get to close the hawk opens his wings and screams at them which sends them scappering.Forgot to say he is very friendly with both people and other dogs when out but he is very protective in the house and garden.
  6. Penny are you sure theres no hyeana in the breeding as Nim comes back with something dead every time i take him out .Hes started to slow down growth wise now hes just over 26" and he weighs 65lb at nearly 10 months old.His nose is exellent when out in the field and usually puts something up,hes very birdy and has twice come back with a mouthful of pheasant tail feathers although he hides behind the sofa if im in the house with the Hawk .He also has an incredibly loud deep bark and takes his guarding very seriously, this may come possibly from the airedale side.Im pleased to say he is everythin
  7. Update on the male harris hawk,i have now finally caught a rabbit with him so i can now say he has caught fur and feather with me.I only get a few flights at fur each season due to mxy on the land i hunt so every rabbit is a bonus. He has also caught a female mallard and another pheasant this week and is flying strong at 1lb 9 1/2 oz.If the people who sent me a pm are still interested please get in contact with me
  8. Penny, the pup looks like its coming on well. She is way in front of Nim who spends most of his time playing around or sleeping on my lap(hes getting far to big for that). He seems to have taken an interest in feather and like to flush the phesants with the terriers. He seems very cautious of the harris hawk however and i thinks he thinks it wants to eat him,the big softy
  9. I ordered my copy yesterday so im looking forward to a good read.Ive got a Penny Taylor book and a Penny Taylor pup so god help me now
  10. Selling for a mate,a six year old male harris hawk.I have been flying this hawk for a couple of months now as my mate split up from his misses and he needed somewhere for the hawk to stay.He had hunted rabbits with the hawk before it did a couple of seasons sat in an avery.I have been flying him for a couple of months and have taken 6 moorhens and a phessy with him but we have no rabbits here and it is a waste of a good bunny hawk.He is quiet in the garden and hunts at between 1lb 9 and 1lb 10 depending on weather. The hawk comes with new anklets and jesses, tailbell and a bow perch and high per
  11. I finally got around to picking up my pup from Skycat yesterday and i would like to say it was a pleasure to finally meet her.All her dogs were in exellent shape and the pups all looked fantastic although im sure mine looked the best.I could not believe how laid back, friendly and more importantly how well behaved her pack was.I just hope i can do you and the pup proud, what a terrific lady
  12. Thats a very good price mate, theres not many around for sale this year so someone will have a bargain, all the best with the sale
