Nice one Dave he sounds a cracker . the bird in the picture above "Del Boy" was basically the same cross! at that time I had my German male in with a Finn x German female, he didn't seem to retain much Finnish genes into him except perhaps he was a lovely sensible bird and tolerated anything like alot of Finns, he was pale like his mother and came out around 1lb 8 1/2 at 16 weeks..... He would take Rabbits and was entered on them Bolting them with Ferrets. at one time he was dragged near arms length down a Rabbit hole! the last I saw of him was him arse ending a Rabbit under a hawthorn, wh

He used to GSi but now I think he hates them with a vengance. all his life he was always told he can't play football or whatever out the back when the birds was breeding or weathering, he was moaned at too for making too much noise and basicaly kept in the smallest part of the garden away from the birds, I think now as he has got older he's a bit recentful of them taking over his space.... Mind you he does like to come out and do the ferrets for me now and again when I can ween him off his Xbox ..... Cheers Jasper

Does anyone still fly these birds? It would be nice to here that they do as apposed to always choseing the Finnish race. I have a real soft spot for the these smaller gamey birds! I know alot has been said about them being difficult and more highly strung compared to the Finns but like anything! "You get what you put in" and BIG certainly isn't the best as some Big Willy falconers seem to beleive..... I have a old German 1998 male Imported in by Steve Tolly which I breed from, he's a absolute pocket rocket and without doubt a killing machine in his own right, He's certainly not big by

Well Done Man Utd . time to consentrate on reeling in the pretenders at the top of the table now , I can see Man U hitting form now and taking a whole load of points when others are loseing them.... Here's a nice little ditty to remind the rest who's the best ..... Jasper

Having said that I know of a guy selling suposeingly Superior Harris's wanting for £550 and they make no bigger weights than my birds or most others . Sold all mine for 3's and 2's last year over the water depending on sex unless a mate wants one and they go alot less ......... Jasper

Which one's did it for you or scared the shit out of you? , Dr Who still has me hiding behind the sofa with the kids.... As for the Mob Films anything from De Niro or Pacino took some beating! having said that this British Mob film set in the 60's was a bit special, its not a nice scene so don't watch it if you're into Free Willy movies ...... Should there be one for the 2012 Olymics? X Scotland manager Craig Brown says "I'm opposed to it because, first of all, I'm a very patriotic Scot and I want to retain the autonomy of the Scottish national team," said Brown. Read On: Craig Brown Jasper

He's getting there now mate.. he is at 1lb 12 3/4oz today and really responsive to the fist i will be taking him to 1lb 13oz tomorrow and im sure he will be just as keen... .. Millet Nice one mate . you've made a cracking job of conditioning that bird and getting its weight pushed up to where it should be, not many these days get their head round conditioning a accipiter.... atb Jasper

I Probably know him or off him mate but the name doesn't ring a bell!! unless its a Martin I know out wales way who been down here flying who breeds a few . Not bad sizes them Turk! the mother to Millets birds flew around that size but my big female will top around 4lb . a lad on this forum from wales had a male off her which topped out around 2lb 7 - 8..... I just let the birds speak for themselves mate and don't boast about all this Big is better business like some breeders or falconers, if none make the weight when I take them out of the aviary then the prices comes down. to be Honest w

Hopefully the guy turns out more Honest than the last bloke you brought that Finn x German bird off Turk! that Angelo did you up like a kipper mate.... Millets finn male is nearly flying at the same weight that female was going at Jasper

Its funny mate as I was having a conversation about this a couple of weeks back on the phone! personally I don't think you can over mann any P/R bird as lets face it Imprinted Falcons are silly tame and still get the job done no problem when entered, its just a case or arrousing some birds Killer Instincts with different methods. I think I can see what you mates are saying as some birds do tend to take alot of entering expecially with falcons Flying corvids which have perhaps been manned to death and done alot of lure work, a good balance between the two and entered quickly is a good compr

the fight was top draw . what a chin Froch has got! he walked on to them right hands all night and hardly flinched.... Jasper

I have heard simular things in the past mate about the guy. I've also done favours myself for people wanting to hawk land without a thankyou phone call or email, never again mate... they say "there's nothing queer a folk" alimac!! never true'er words spoken.... Jasper

It makes alot of sense to jump a bird and get some activity into them on none flying days mate which can only be good for the bird . Nick Fox wrote alot of stuff about the Red and White muscle fibres in his book <Understanding The Bird Of Prey> but it made things more technical for the average falconer than need be..... Fitness and conditioning is something we all strive for in one way or another, we all get there in the end with plenty of flying without taking the scientific route some write in these latter books compared to the old school routes who just got out and flew them.....

I know what you're saying mate and don't get me wrong I wasn't slateing High Jumps . I'm sure any sort of exurtion must be a benefit to a unfit bird to help build up its Metabolism and muscle to get things moving, anything has to be better than a bird sitting about on a bow or setting its wings flying from tree to tree.... with a new taken up bird or one out of the moult flying to the fist either on the creance or loose I normally get someone or a couple of people to come out with me and fly the birds fist to fist, if there is 3 of us you can soon get a bird moving in a triangular fasion b

I know what you're saying trappa but theres been alot of studies and books written in the past by people who dabble but never really get out and do it, they seem to write these books giving the feeling these birds are like Robots and ALL respond in the same way, surley they know they're all different with different metabolisms and temperaments? some birds bend to certain techniques better than others so I'll agree to disagree mate. perhaps it might well work with the Buteo's or parabuteo's But I wouldn't know too much as I have one flown one Redtail and two Harris's both never doing High Jumps

Hows it going mate! give us a shout sometime and fill me in.... I think I know now why she did me in the face Turk! this bird has a bit of a problem flicking food! when Millet was down he noticed a bit of chick stuck to the side of my head she flicked earlier, I get the Impresion this is why she did me over after seeing a bit of chick on the side of my head, either way it was a bit close for comfort mate....
