  1. . . . That's what I was thinking I am not 'au fait' with the new quick set nets, but I have seen them when they were first put on the market. What does this grommet do and look like? OTC Ah,..Grommet,...what a beautiful english word... The first 'quick-set' nets were brought to the attention of the public by Mr Glenn Waters... He favoured tying his lines onto the borrowed fibre glass Golf flags by dint of rubberised bands cut from bicycle inner tubes. This idea soon progressed onto lamb castration rings (sadly, designed to rot !) and was further enhanced by the Hampshire
  2. I think you are right there ,..they sort of 'came and went',..real quick..
  3. We do a fair bit of it... Its just part of the job.. 'Roadsiding' for local authorities is very profitable,.but its the pits for a keen ferreting enthusiast The obvious noise and constant disturbance takes some fecking getting used to,.and you have to be vigilant with regards to the ferrets wandering out across the road But on the whole it is a very good mistress...£££...
  4. I often wonder just how long this controversial subject will be talked about in lurcher circles.....
  5. Good first effort Deltor ... But I would have to go with The Master Trapper,... Get away from that fecking gate,..the wire stands out like a sore thumb,..even Stevie Wonder could see it. Walk back from the gate and look for a travelway coming to and from it,..that's the place.... All the best,.CHALKWARREN...
  6. You boys are right,..White don't stay white,..for long... After a few trips out the white nets turn an earthy grey/brown and take on the appearance of traditional hemp..Nothing wrong with that, but if you are wary of leaving a net on a warren, its best to go blue This colour is completely alien to the English countryside and really stands out "You'll never lose a Pompey Blue'...
  7. I work as a Rural Pest Controller,...I also do a fair bit of wine tasting,..on a self employed basis
  8. Good points raised I've used hemp trammels back in the 60's and 70's,..I got them from S.Young and Sons of Misterton.. They were good things,..they tangled well,.but SEEMED easier to handle when removing the rabbits, as opposed to the nylon jobs. We only used the Trammel with a 'Drop Net' system. When it was pulled and dropped,..we ran like feck to get the rabbits out... But for night work...well,.I still favour the traditional 'end pin' and hazel wands style of long netting. Mind you,..99% of the lads I know like to use the basket and fixed pole method. Its quick and easy. I must be an aw
