thats a bit on the harsh side socks, you are basicaly saying anyone who enjoys lamping are numb feckers, i actually agree with you that a proper daytime dog is a lot more well trained than 99.9 percent of lamping dogs, but as you know yourself as i guess over the years you have done your fair share of lamping that a dog with drive and determination will put you game in the bag in good numbers, from time to time you witness a dog which is a little different they make things luck almost to easy and with style and are very well trained. i wasnt saying that mate as i do my fair share of lam

I agree a dog should know where to stand. A dog whatever its used for has to have brains saying a dog needs more brains for ferreting is a stupid statement! Some of the best dogs I have seen day or night always no where to place themselfs to shorten the odds for a kill. have you actually done a substancive amount of ferreting with a dog ???

thats the whole point you shouldnt have to stand a BRAINY DAYTIME DOG ... it will stand itself using its own BRAIN .... i regularly ferret warrens with with a hundered holes how the hell am i supposed to stand the dog where the rabbit is going to come out ??? ... i am good but i aint that good ...........

rabbits dont wake up all bleary eyed like humans and have to have a cup of coffee to get going in the morning ..... when they leave that burry by whicher sneaky little bolt hole they chose they know exactly where they are running to ... where the cover is ... where the hole under the fence is ... where the next safe warren is where they can go and theyre persuer cant .... anybody that has done a lot of ferreting will have had their superior running machine bettered by the humble old bunny ... for he has to know is land and all his escape routes to stay alive .............

ferrets for 30 years ??? strange you were buying some only the other month ??? oh well ...... now all you have said is that the dog has to have good recall a good retrieve be stock broken and ? well thats about it realy ... everything else you have mentioned has nothing to do with brains ... being fast jumping etc etc ..... how does a rabbit running in the dark controlled by the beam run quicker and harder than a daytime rabbit ??? i think you will find that a rabbit in broad daylight is a harder animal to catch than a nightime one (much the same as the hare ... pre ban of course) ... a lamp d

there really is no comparison ... a night dog has to learn to run to the end of the beam to find a rabbit ... then if its decent will learn to box them off a hedge and then retrieve to hand ... thats about all there is to lamping ... how you can say that a lamping dog needs more brains than a day one beggers beliefe ... you have only had ferrets a very short time so you have not done a lot of day work and have obviously never seen a good day dog work with the ferrets and nets .... a good day dag should be able to be sent out to hunt up a field push out and catch the game and retrieve to hand .

the bitch was bred reared and trained and entered to be a daytime ferreting dog and if she did a bit of lamping on the odd occasion then good BUT it wasnt a requirement .... if i was after a lamping type dog then i wouldnt have gone for a cross with so much brain .... sometimes a thinking dog is not whats required for lamp work ...... a combination of the dogs injury and the confidence knock she took and her still being very puppyfied are among some of the reasons that i KNOW she isnt ready to be lamped hard yet ............ somtimes a thinking dog is not whats required for lamping work

well nice pictures but i beleave in a 16 month old bitch is ready to be lamped,but anyway she looks well,mark well I know MY dog and she isnt ready to be lamped .... just because a dog is a certain age doesnt mean its automatically ready for a certain job ..........

my hunting partner chicky was up today with jock his very good merle dog for a days ferreting on a spot that needed thining out so myself chicky chalkwaren tegan jock and the ferrets were ready to do battle thebigfish was also along as our photographer for the day as he is shit hot with a camera and i am ... well just shit :laughbounce2: ........ the day started off badly :grrr: .... i had made the customery breakfast (well it used to be anyway ... not anymore) of bacon and sausage in a lovely bread roll .... now there were 4 of us and 8 rolls ... half way through eating my first roll

no her tounge will never be the same i fear ... the vet told me that the first month would be crucial to recovery and the most improvement would be then ... she manages well with an injury that could have finished her and i have absolutely no complaints about the way she works ...........

a big thank you to CHALKY and TBF for inviting me and tegan up to their bit of permission ... and what a cracking little spot it was ... it was a nice change for me and tegan to be ferreting something other than open warrens ..... the day started well with the terrible twosome turning up late then needing a caffeen fix before we headed off ... however we only had a short drive and we were soon surrounded by coneys just waiting to be caught .... tegan worked well again today and accounted for a fair few bunnys ... she is turning into a really handy little ferreting dog and she is a pleasure to

i was going to put up what i feed my dogs and why (what meats for what and what veg's for variouse vitamins etc) but i cant be bothered when you have fecking idiots that no matter what they are told wont listen so i wont waste my time typing on here casper you carry on doing what you want and when you have a dog looking like this then i will listen to what you have to say ............ mostly i feed raw diet chicken mince pasta fish ect ......but once maybe twice a week i mix raw mince with with good quality dried food ....but i always add liquid e.g. gravy or what ever ....you know your stuff socks of the feeding side of things ....so how would the digestive side off things work if i did that ..???ive never seemed to have any probs ..... cheers snoop .. the problem with dried food mate is that it is desinged to break down slowly in the dogs gut and realease a steady amount of the minerals and vitamins over an 18 to 24 hour period thats why you should only feed the me
