Lost my big wheaten cross to cancer 6 years ago first tumor went from the size of a peanut to tennis ball size within a month, after getting it removed he was grand for 4 months then it came back much more aggressive and had to be pts. A real sickener having to get a big strong otherwise healthy dog put to sleep.

It was my mums birthday today and her months mind yesterday so this last couple of days have been tough ones.

Its the worst thing about ex track dogs, 99.9% have had absolutely no socialising, my mate rears his like lurchers they're out across the fields from a young age with his other dogs jumping ditches wire and everything else, it's a nice sight seeing a full greyhound thats calm in normal situations and not running round like a headless chicken, it's the ex track dogs where most lads get their opinions about them from.

There was a big coursing bred dog up this way maybe 25 years ago that a local scumbag owned, its only job was killing stuff at night on the lamp, never had much running to do but was supposed to of been lethal at it, big dog of 32 inches that had no quit in him as much as the owner tried to break him. Ended up killed on the road after getting out of the man's back garden.

No doubt there is the odd one about that will take fox regularly but when they're out 3 nights on the lamp a Saturday with terriers and a Sunday doing covers with hounds they have to have a strong desire for the job because if there's any holes in their game it will be found out in no time. Anyway that's all in the past for me now and I've no need for a hard rough dog like I did back then so maybe one of those fluffy ones would do me just fine.

Id of had that thing sickened in a fortnight when I was in my twenties. Lol Tried most of the popular xs back then and none could handle the work they were getting like the bull and wheaten xs could, completely different mindset needed if they're seeing teeth on a really regular basis. The only other cross that came close was a little beddy xs a mate had, if she had a been 3 inches bigger and 20 lbs heavier she'd of been a real diamond but unfortunately when put to a real good wheaten xs she produced nothing like herself.

Its fcukin rife in the greyhound game, I know that for a fact and the higher up the grades you go the better the gear gets.

As far as greyhound racing is concerned its all about who's got the best drugs. Very little honest men left in the game and what chance do they have running against dogs pumped full of gear.
