  1. Thank God you weren't by elephant walk, thats all I can say
  2. Not a quote, but my all time favourite THL moment was the picture of LDR with his "loser" tee shirt standing next to MB, I still snigger now when I think about it.
  3. This threads really cheered me up, I thought I was on my own when things like this happen. I remember walking my mutt up to within a few feet of a squatter, slipping him and then watching him as he trod on the bunny without seeing it. The rabbit jumped up and hit him in the face and scared the s**t out of him. (It also escaped )
  4. There's a disadvantage to a long tail, my dog is forever hitting his agaimst doors and walls and making the tip bleed.
  5. The Wye valley takes some beating, especially in Autumn.
  6. That's exactly what happened with me, my dog was the one that showed most interest in me from the the litter when I sat with them. It's worked out well for me and if the time ever comes when I am after another pup I'd do the same thing.
  7. Don't know if you smoke mate, but touching the leaves of tomato plants after a having fag is a certain way of killing them, I know from experience. The nicotine on your hands kills them for some reason. If it's too hot in your greenhouse they will wilt a bit till it cools off, but shouldn't die.
  8. I've never known a cat crap in the middle of a lawn before, I thought they did it somewhere they could cover it. Maybe it's a dog or fox if it's in the front garden?
  9. [bANNED TEXT] the f**k would you know about a dog romany52 nowt so get back to bed with your mam
  10. Good topic this one. I think I've dropped lucky as this is my first lurcher, but temperement wise my dogs perfect for me. He's laid back, not aggressive at all, and biddable. I think a strong willed dog would have been too much for me as a novice. The hardest part of training for me was to get my head around not scolding him, I ended up buying a whistle to stop him picking up if I was angry from my voice and he's gone from strength to strength ever since. I still can't believe how sensitive he is to being shouted at, a raised voice will see him not coming near me for a few minutes yet he wil
  11. Snap mate :laugh Colie/Saluki/greyhound x Beddie.................... I wish it was trumps we were playing........ Beddy/whippet/grey x bull/whippet/grey for mine. Amazing, different breeds but still come out looking the same.
  12. And you have to remember that of the 30000 members, 29900 of them would tell you they never pay, they'd just poach it
  13. Just my own opinion but I think they're crap. You need a very dense hedge or suchlike behind you or you can be seen easily, the stealth nets are far better for me.
  14. Jesus fecking christ, put yourself down now and save our gene pool. Unless that was a reference to his spelling?
  15. Sounds a lot like my dog, at 12 months he was a handful but if your dog is the same you will find a gradual improvement over the next 12. It's been nothing dramatic, just finding he needs less and less commands as time goes on and now at 2 he's pretty much as I want him. As for the aggression, does he do it only on the lead? My dog growls at every dog he passes while on the lead but is not dog aggressive in any way, I think it's just that he feels threatened while leashed. I tend to leash him around other dogs simply because he can be very full on when playing about, and it's not fair on othe
  16. +1 on that, I take my sons terrier out occasionally and he's knackered the lurcher within a couple of hours. The only reason I don't take him out every day is that the little sod buggers off 100 yards in front of me and drags the lurcher with him, other than that I'd never leave him at home because he finds rabbits everywhere just lately, and he can follow prey through any thick stuff with ease. I'd love to watch a pack of terriers work, if mines anything to go by it would be like watching army ants, everything in the area would be put up.
  17. Well I think you're living in a fantasy world there mate, whereas I'm pretty sure my request to be Cheryl Coles paid sex toy is being processed as we speak.
  18. No idea what it was but it would be a good laugh if someone could arrange to have maybe a tape of a lion roaring played through a loudspeaker while out with mates, I'll bet some would need fresh kegs.
  19. I had exactly the same problem if I took my sons terrier out with my dog. The only way for me was to leave the terrier at home and concentrate on my dog. I've reached the stage where I take the two out together once a week for a mooch and the rest of the time it's the lurcher on it's own. The terrier still ranges way too far in front of me for my liking, and pulls the lurcher along with him but the two together are much more obedient than before and the lurchers spot on when he's on his own. Everything I've read said 2 dogs together were hard work and it certainly proved too much for a novice
  20. Here's my mutt Mouse, bred by Lovestohunt off this site.
  21. My kids are in their 20's and 30's now but when we have a family get together the talk almost always turns to the days such as you have there, just messing around climbing trees and playing in the woods, and all 3 agree they were the best times of their lives. Small things like that have a habit of staying in the memory for a lifetime and in my opinion kids that live that type of life grow into well adjusted adults. ATB, Tom
  22. BitComet is very good. Also try a site called "Rotten Tomatoes" for lists of films from the last few decades, as you will reach a stage where you have all the new films and can't think of the names of older ones.
