  2. will do had the dogs out today got some more deer on vid put them up in a bit NO NO NO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN I WAS JOKING ,,,, please don,t make me sit through any more of that shit.
  3. I'm out almost every day for an hour or two, my dogs become a good game finder but what rabbits there are are wised up so we catch very little. Sometimes I take the shotgun and it would be unusual if I didn't come back with something then. Just lately I've been out a few times with a mate and his 2 whippets and Jack Russel and thats become one of my favourite ways of hunting, nothing better than watching dogs pick up a scent and push out prey that you would never know was there in my opinion, even if you come back empty handed.

    Kindle?

You can download a pile of books at bitcomet for free, though they are in blocks of a few hundred at a time and you have to sort out the ones you want to read after you have downloaded them onto your hard drive. I've had one a few weeks now and think it's a great tool, but I haven't found any hunting books that apply to lurchers, any that there are tend to be American and involve rifles or bows. I'd be interested to know if anybody has found any.
  5. The best advice I was ever given is never lose your temper, if you find you are knock the training on the head straight away.
  6. My wifes dad had a dog named Mouse years ago and I liked the name so I called my lurcher the same. My wife has a cat called stickybud, because the bloody thing is forever forgetting to sheath her claws and ends up stuck to clothes, furniture, anything really, it's the doziest animal I've ever seen.
  7. how the f**k is the dog 35 years old is this a joke or do you have no concept of time ? instead of moaning about your dog why dont you make an effort to learn about the type of dog you have . Most sighthounds or sighthound mixes learn better by positive reenforcement so stop subjecting your dog to acts of cruelty and bond with it . You say you mooch twice a week and let your dog do as it pleases well from what i can see its you not the dog thats the problem im a begginner to hunting but ive had dogs all my life and i have read and watched countless articles and programmes on dog behavior and i
  8. "A DWARF porn star who was Gordon Ramsay's double has been found dead in the most bizarre of circumstances," Now there's a statement I never thought I'd hear...
  9. Dam is a bull/grey/whippet, sire beddy/grey/whippet. I've got the brother to this dog and have to say he's the total opposite to her, calm, steady, and pretty obedient. i've become good mates with Shushy over the last couple of years and know he really has made an effort with the dog, but this is the first lurcher for both of us and personally I think this has been the problem. I've made loads of beginner mistakes with my dog but he's been the sort that can take it in his stride and recover, whereas his dog is much more hyper than mine and in my opinion would have suited an experienced owner
  10. A couple of years ago or so I bought my dog from here, I was a complete novice but was able to have a look at a few of the sellers posts and suchlike so for me it was a good thing that the site sells dogs. I don't know if it's a coincidence but since F.T.B. has had a bee in his bonnet there seems to be fewer dogs for sale than there were, so maybe it will calm down a bit if he stays on the case?
  11. Personally I'd vote against it, because some of the most random threads turn into the ones that crease me up. I'd be more inclinded to go for an age limit, but there again there seem to be some good kids on here and there are older people who come across as tits.
  12. No way would I get rid, Even if I gave up actually going out looking for game my dog would still have a good life mooching along canal banks and suchlike, thats something I've done all my life and will never stop doing.
  13. I should think the officer in charge is Inspector feckin Clueseau
  14. They are selling on ebay, but have no feedback at the minute, it will be interesting to see what happens. Don't think I will be buying from them for a while though.
  15. Someone on pigeon watch says they have started a new business called DJ Decoys, don't know if it's true or not.
  16. I've always thought he was more influential on pop music than the Beatles, it's amazing how many of his songs have been covered by others.

  18. The 4th series of True Blood, it's not on over here yet but the first nine episodes are on the torrent sites. I'd love to get my teeth into the girl who plays Sookie
  19. i know it's not possible for a ferret to transfer mixy directly to rabbits, but was wondering if I ferreted a burrow with mixy'd rabbits and the ferret picked up fleas, would it not then drop a few of those fleas if I did another warren in another area and infect that one?
  20. I would leave the rabbits for now and concentrate on getting her to return immediately, theres nothing worse than a dog that hunts up and puts every rabbit for miles around down. If her recalls ok in the day then take her out at night where there are no scents to bother her and shine the lamp on your feet and recall her. Do this till she comes back just to the lamp every time and not your voice, then you can take her lamping.
  21. They don't have to be incompatible, I love mooching with the lurcher and gun, though if I could only do one thing it would be the dog every time. I'm only interested in pigeon shooting and have never been on an organised shoot so maybe thats the reason I enjoy the gun so much, you're on your own and unless you are on a big number of birds it's not that expensive, though it will never give me the thrill I get when I slip the dog on the lamp.
  22. I was 17, she was 15 and the first night we met with a group of mates I pulled a chair from under her as she went to sit down in the pub. (I always had a way with the ladies} I thought for years it was me that bagged her, only for her to tell me that she had had her eyes on me for a week and there would have been no escape. That was nearly 40 years ago and I'm convinced she is the only woman that could have put up with me, we have 3 kids, a grandaughter, and she has made me a better person, I still fancy her too.
  23. There will be a sensor on or in the pump that detects water flowing eg when you turn a tap on, it's probably this sticking thats giving you the problem. On some central heating boilers there is a flow valve that does a similar job, basically it's a little propellor that turns as water flows over it, I'm not sure if the pump you have works on the same principal but it will have something that does the same job.
