A terrier will struggle to catch many healthy fit rabbits, but it's great fun to watch them try. I've always thought the ground being a bit wet was an advantage to a dog but may be wrong, and no she's not too old, in fact if she's been taught some basic commands over the last few months it may be an advantage and make her more biddable.

But they are now saying there was nothing wrong wth the solenoid, so my argument is why the fukc didn't they check it before replacing it? I was a gas engineer before I retired and if I changed a part on a boiler without testing it on just the say so of the houseowner and it turned out to be something else there would be no chance of getting the money from them, same applies here imo

This was the only firm my mechanic knew of with the diagnostics to do the job, they are pretty well known in the area and tout themselves as specialists. I'll pay the bill for taking the ECU off willingly, but if it is the case that they have done something to cause it to fail they should be responsible for the rest imo
-
I agree, I can't be 100% sure the ECU wasn't the problem in the first place and if it was I'd suck it up and pay. The recovery guy turned it over at my house to try and start it to get it on his wagon so I'm sure he didn't do anything because the bettery wasn't flat. It just seems very odd that it happened when parts were being replaced that require recoding work to the ECu Getting the ECU checked sounds a good idea, if it's possible it would solve it once and for all.
-
No money has changed hands yet. I'm pretty sure that when they recoded the ECU they have fukced it up, and now they are trying to say that it was like it when it came in so I'm to blame. Trouble is that it went in as a non runner so it's my word against theirs.

My Citreon van conked 3 wweks ago and the guy who does my motors diagnosed it as the fuel pump solenoid, which he couldn't do himself as the transponder had to be taken off and recoded. The only specialist company he knew of were a few miles away so I arranged to have the van towed there, told them on the phone that I thought it was the solenoid and waited a phone call to say it was done. 3 days later I phoned to ask how things were going and was told by a guy that he had changed the solenoid and the van started perfectly, however none of the clocks were working and he had to see what was th

Can't believe this is still rumbling on after 15 pages, all I've learned is that there are some great collie xs, some shit collie xs, and there are some gtreat/shit (add whatever breed you like) xs. As long as you're happy with your own dog does it really matter that much?

we hunted the "water rats" with both guns and dogs all through my childhood Me too, and every kid I knew, and it never made a difference to the population. It's strange how things change over the years, I see kingfishers occasionally nowadays, but there are hardly any sticklebacks in our canals.
-
First one I've seen on the local canal for 10 years or so. Is it just my area or have they dissapeared all over? When I was a kid you'd see or hear one in the rushes every few yards, yet now the canals are clean there are none. I know mink have been blamed but to be honest we don't have many round here so I don't think they are the cause.

Ooops, I meant his terrier...

When my son lived at home I fed him barf and he always seemed heavy. Our vet said raw can put too much weight on a dog and since he left home and began feeding it tinned stuff the dogs much slimmer, so maybe the vet was right with certain types of dog?

My half x is 5 months old now and is incredably easy to train so far. I'm only just beginning to do any serious stuff but it took me all of 2 minutes to teach him to heel and the other basics like recall and retieving have come without training at all. He is however the biggest pain in the arse pup I've ever had, if I'm not keeping him occupied he's digging the garden up or chewing stuff up none stop and he's at it all day long.

Sounds a bit like me mate,,,,

Feeding And Excercise For A Pup
tsteve9999 replied to dommorris92's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
A day, he's coming up to 6 months old now. It's pretty easy to gauge it because if I give too much he will leave the mixer, then he'll get a bit less for his next meal. -
Feeding And Excercise For A Pup
tsteve9999 replied to dommorris92's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Mine gets minced raw 3 times a day, and he's eating about a pound and a half plus mixer, odd bones, and veg Get him out as soon as he's jabbed just for an hour or so to run free to begin with, and for short road walks on the lead so he sees traffic and other people and dogs.To be honest as long as you've got a garden I think a pup will get all the excercise it needs there for the first couple of months, it's the seeing new things and socialising that taking them out brings that's more important imo -
A mate of mine fetched his at 6 weeks. If you put your foot down he will let you take one before he loses the sale. 10 weeks is far too long to have been locked in a pen without seeing the world in my opinion. I agree mate, I wouldn't touch one more than 8 weeks old. Having said all that though, mine has been great. I'd been told of collies being sensative but nothing has fazed him so far, his only quirk seems to be that if he sees anything unusual he gives out a couple of quiet wuffs, though even that is easing off now. He's had a couple of bollockings and alls forgotten 30 secs

From what I saw there is very little socialising done, in fact they don't like you to get in with the pups when you go to see the litters at all, In the litter I had my pup from there were 2 that I wouldn't have touched with a bargepole, one of which was the pup I originally picked. Even at 8 weeks I couldn't get them within 10 feet of me, they just cowered in the corner of the stall. The old man said they would come round within a few hours of being taken and I guess he knows a lot more than me but I wouldn't take the chance.

I had my 2 done a couple of years ago and it cost me 90 quid for the pair,

Great pics, from what I can see you could replace the dogs with todays and not know the difference.

I took my 2 to Bloxwich vets a couple of years ago, it cost me quid to have the 2 done if I remember correctely. Never had a problem with either and the one I have left has bought my jills out of season each year. -
Any Tip On Toilet Training
tsteve9999 replied to Chris the bass's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
I'm the same mate, every pup I've ever had was as near as dammit trained in a fortnight. I think Skycat is right, because they have no proper bed they go wherever they want and never learn from the off to go to a certain area. -
Any Tip On Toilet Training

I've got a Hancocks pup too and without a doubt it has been the hardest dog to housetrain I've ever had. The only advise I can give is do what I did, and watch him like a hawk and let him out every 15 mins or so, whether you think he wants to go or not. It took me the best part of 6 weeks solid doing this, before he was finally housetrained but touch wood he's been fine for more than a month now. I've had a big advantage in that I retired at Christmas, so was able to be with him 24/7, God knows how I would have done it if I'd been at work. Other than that he's been a great pup so far, none o -
Get him to a field with a low fence or a low gate and no other way for him to get through, climb gate and walk off, He'll soon follow if he thinks your leaving him.
-
I would think it all depends on where you are, if you're out in the middle of nowhere there's no problem, if you're near to somewhere you shouldn't be it's a big problem.
